Rich Swann Injury Update, JBL Takes A Spill At EC, Scott Dawson Gives Speech At WWE PC

12

– As seen above, The Revival’s Scott Dawson recently spoke to potential new recruits at the WWE Performance Center tryouts. Wearing a Sasha Banks t-shirt, the NXT superstar promoted hard work, advising the recruits to work as hard as possible and to respect themselves. He told the recruits that they should strive to be as good as he is, but added that it would never happen. After leaving the recruits, he speaks directly to the camera declaring that whether it be in the ring, on the mic, or in the weight room, no one could beat him.

– It will be interesting to see if Rich Swann returns to the ring on 205 Live tonight. He returned to the ring this weekend at WWE house shows after suffering a foot injury a few weeks back.

– JBL took quite the spill during the pre-show for the Elimination Chamber pay-per-view on Sunday. See him tumble in the Gif below:

Bayley Captures RAW Women’s Championship (Video)

24

Bayley defeated Charlotte in the main event of Monday’s RAW from Las Vegas to capture the RAW Women’s Championship. This marks her first main roster title reign and the 8th title reign for the RAW Women’s Championship, which was introduced last year at WrestleMania.

Bayley is a former NXT Wonen’s Champion and made her main roster debut last summer. Based on this victory, it appears she’s going to have a big role at WrestleMania 33. You can be sure that Charlotte will expect a rematch sooner than later, with Sasha Banks and Nia Jax also in the title picture.

Discussion: Do you think it was the right time for Bayley to win the RAW Women’s Championship, or should WWE have built this up longer, with her coming up short many times before finally reaching the top of the mountain?

Charlotte is already focused on getting her title back. Charlotte tweeted this message after losing the championship:

WWE posted this video of Bayley backstage after her big win:

I am proud of what I’ve done. I’m not at all regretful for how I’ve behaved and I will continue to do what is best for me, my family, and what has my best interests in mind.”

– Daniel Bryan noted on Twitter that he’s back in the gym training after taking some time off. He wrote, “Got back to some cleans after months off. Don’t try this at home, at least not the way I do it because my form is horrible @RehabPlusPHX” Below is video of Bryan in action:

Goldberg Responds To Gillberg’s RAW Return (Video)

11

Gillberg made his WWE return on Monday’s RAW from Las Vegas during the Friendship Festival segment with Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens.

The segment saw Jericho call out Goldberg, knowing Gillberg would be the one to come out. Universal champion Kevin Owens would proceed to beat the crap out of Gillberg before doing the same to his now former best friend.

The real Goldberg took to Twitter and commented on Gillberg’s return:

WWE Monday Night Raw Reaction (2/13)

16

Stephanie McMahon kicked off the show and she danced down the entrance ramp. Stephanie announced that she has given Mick Foley the week off due to his disrespectful attitude during last week’s contract signing with Samoa Joe. Roman Reigns came down to the ring to his usual negative reaction. Stephanie McMahon didn’t look pleased that Reigns interrupted her. Reigns said that he is not waiting until Fastlane and demanded that he fight Braun Strowman right now. Stephanie McMahon claimed that the Las Vegas crowd didn’t care about Roman. Stephanie announced that Braun Strowman already has a match tonight against Mark Henry. Roman Reigns said that maybe he will watch the match from ringside and Stephanie McMahon threatened him.

Gallows and Anderson then interrupted and challenged Roman Reigns to a Handicap Match. Stephanie McMahon then made the match and Gallows and Anderson made their way to the ring. Reigns attacked both Gallows and Anderson before the match started. Raw went to a commercial break with Reigns holding his ribs, which is an injury he apparently suffered at the hands of Braun Strowman last week.

Handicap Match: Gallows & Anderson vs Roman Reigns

Reigns dominated the match for a few minutes. Gallows and Anderson wound up beating the hell out of Roman Reigns and wouldn’t stop. The referee was forced to disqualify Gallows and Anderson. After the match, Gallows and Anderson went for the Magic Killer but Reigns powered out of it and fought them off. The match ended with Roman Reigns standing tall in the ring as Gallows and Anderson retreated.

Winner via DQ: Roman Reigns

Reaction: Roman Reigns is still getting a negative reaction from the crowd and the Raw Tag Team Champions look even weaker after this match.

Kofi Kingston vs Bo Dallas

The New Day brought down a folder with blue prints for their new ice cream. Bo tore up the folder. Kofi then hit the SOS for the victory.

Winner: Kofi Kingston

Noam Dar vs Jack Gallagher

The match started out back and forth. Gallagher hit a headbutt and followed it up with a running Dropkick for the victory. After the match, Neville came down to the entrance ramp and raised the Cruiserweight Championship.

Winner: Jack Gallagher

Reaction: Hopefully everyone enjoyed the weekly three minute Cruiserweight match on Raw.

Samoa Joe was shown exiting a limo with Triple H.

Emmalina finally showed up and announced that she was turning back into Emma.

Reaction: People did not find this amusing at all. Hopefully it doesn’t take another 17 weeks for Emmalina to transform back into Emma.

Triple H was shown backstage having a discussion with Kevin Owens.

Braun Strowman vs Mark Henry

The match was back and forth for a couple of minutes but Strowman planted Henry with the Running Powerslam for the victory. After the match, Roman Reigns came down to the ring to fight Strowman. Braun pushed Reigns off the apron a couple of times. Eventually, Reigns got in the ring and hit a couple of Superman Punches. Strowman then hit Reigns with a Running Powerslam and left Reigns in the ring.

Winner: Braun Strowman

Michael Cole interviewed Samoa Joe. Cole said that a lot of people believe that Samoa Joe is only in the WWE because Triple H is afraid of Seth Rollins. Joe stated that he is a very dangerous man and injuring Seth Rollins is just another example of that. Joe claimed that Rollins was going to miss Wrestlemania for the second year in a row. Cole claimed that Rollins may be back in time for face Triple H at Wrestlemania. Joe said that he has no problem putting Rollins right back on the shelf when he returns. Joe stated that he was not some “Sami Zayn who is just happy to be on Raw” and that his goal is to be in the WWE for a long time. Cole said that Triple H has turned his back on a bunch of people in the past, including Shawn Michaels and Seth Rollins. Joe said that for once Triple H has someone he can rely on and that he knows what is best for business.

Sami Zayn vs Rusev

Rusev controlled the first couple minutes of the match. Zayn battled back and hit a Moonsault onto Rusev outside the ring. Rusev connected with a kick to Zayn’s face that knocked him out of the ring and Raw went to a commercial break. When Raw returned, Rusev had Sami Zayn locked in a Bear Hug. Rusev slammed Zayn to the mat but his mask somehow got knocked off. Rusev put his protective mask back on and beatdown Zayn in the corner.

Both Superstars battled on the top turnbuckle. Zayn headbutted Rusev to the mat and went for a Crossbody but Rusev got out of the way. Rusev connected with a kick to the back of Zayn’s head. Rusev went to jump onto Zayn in the corner but Sami got out of the way and Rusev launched into the ring post and fell out of the ring. Rusev Clotheslined Zayn outside the ring. Zayn got back into the ring first and hit the Helluva Kick while Rusev was trying to get into the ring.

After the match, Sami Zayn addressed Samoa Joe’s comments from earlier tonight. Zayn called Samoa Joe a sellout. Joe’s music hit and Zayn was at the top of the entrance ramp waiting for him. Joe attacked Zayn from behind and smashed him into the screen by the entrance ramp. Samoa Joe then applied the Coquina Clutch to Zayn on the entrance ramp.

Winner: Sami Zayn

Reaction: There have been a grand total of two solid segments tonight on Raw and both have included Samoa Joe. Sami Zayn and Samoa Joe can put on a great match and I’m looking forward to seeing it.

Akira Tozawa vs Ariya Daivari

Brian Kendrick joined commentary for this match. Kendrick claimed to be Tozawa’s mentor. Tozawa got a quick victory over Daivari after hitting the German Suplex. Kendrick took credit for the victory and applauded Tozawa from the announce table.

Winner: Akira Tozawa

Festival of Friendship w/ Chris Jericho & Kevin Owens

Chris Jericho was dancing around in a ridiculous hat with a bunch of showgirls. Kevin Owens looked embarrassed to be there. Owens and Jericho made their way down to the ring and Jericho said that he had a ton of gifts to present to Kevin Owens. Jericho presented a sculpture created by Ralph Googenheim that cost him $7.000. Jericho then presented Owens with an interesting painting.

Jericho wanted Owens to hang the painting in his house. Owens declined because he has two kids and stated that Jericho wasn’t wearing pants in the painting. Jericho then brought out “Friendship the Magician” and the crowd booed him. Owens stated that his 9 year old could do the same tricks. Jericho agreed and added Friendship the Magician to the list. Jericho then called out Goldberg and Raw went to a commercial break.

When Raw returned, Gillberg came down to the ring and Kevin Owens beat the hell out of him. Owens became annoyed with Jericho. Jericho said the last year has been one of the best of his career and thanked Kevin Owens for that. Jericho guaranteed that Owens will beat Goldberg at WWE Fastlane because he is going to have his back. Jericho then referred to Owens as his brother and told him that he loved him. Owens said that he loved him as well and presented him with a gift. The gift was list of KO and Jericho’s name was on it. Owens then attacked Jericho and slammed him into the barricade surrounding the ring. Owens then Powerbombed Jericho into the ring apron. Owens then smashed Jericho’s head into the Festival of Friendship sign in the ring. Owens then raised the Universal Championship as the crowd booed him. Jericho was then stretchered out and taken away from the arena in an ambulance.

https://twitter.com/FightOwensFight/status/831349362315759616

Reaction: I was expecting the friendship to end at WWE Fastlane so this caught me by surprise. The list of KO was a nice touch and it was good to see Kevin Owens not look like a joke for a change. The table is now set for Owens to drop the Universal Championship at Fastlane and feud with Jericho until Wrestlemania.

Enzo Amore vs Cesaro

This was a quick back and forth match. Cesaro got the win by hitting a gigantic uppercut. After the match, Big Cass and Sheamus argued and Cesaro separated them.

Winner: Cesaro

Sasha Banks confronted Charlotte backstage. Charlotte once again mocked Sasha for being injured. Sasha said that she could beat Charlotte again. Charlotte stated that Sasha is a constant reminder of how quickly someone can turn into a failure.

Raw Women’s Championship Match: Charlotte (c) vs Bayley

The match started off back and forth. Bayley slapped Charlotte very hard and she fell to the mat. Raw went to a commercial break after Charlotte rolled out of the ring with a look of disbelief on her face. When Raw returned, Charlotte was slamming Bayley’s head off the turnbuckle but Bayley was shrugging it off. Bayley then bounced Charlotte’s head off the turnbuckle and followed it up with Crossbody off the second rope. Charlotte slammed Bayley’s head off the bottom turnbuckle and punched her in the face several times.

Charlotte then applied a Chinlock but Bayley countered it into a Jawbreaker. Charlotte responded by hitting a Neckbreaker for a two count. Charlotte then took down her knee pad and hit a knee to Bayley’s face. Charlotte launched Bayley into the turnbuckle and hit her with a viscous chop that sent her falling to the mat. Bayley got back up and connected with a kick that sent Charlotte into the turnbuckle. Charlotte connected with a kick that knocked Bayley out of the ring.

Charlotte followed Bayley out of the ring and connected with another kick and Bayley fell into the barricade. Charlotte then hit a Moonsault off the barricade onto Bayley and rolled her back into the ring. Charlotte tried to pin Bayley three times but Bayley kicked out every time. Both Bayley and Charlotte hit a Crossbody at the same time and they both fell to the mat. Bayley was the first Superstar up and she leveled Charlotte with a Clothesline. Bayley followed it up with a Suplex and climbed to the second turnbuckle for a flying elbow.

Bayley connected with another Suplex and climbed to the top turnbuckle. Bayley almost fell off the turnbuckle but caught herself and connected with an Elbow Drop for a two count. Charlotte then climbed to the top turnbuckle but Bayley caught her with a couple of right hands. Bayley connected with a Hurricanrana off the top rope for a two count. Dana Brooke ran down to the ring but Bayley hit her with a right hand and knocked her off the apron. Bayley applied the Figure Four but Dana Brooke raked the eyes of Bayley. Charlotte then applied the Figure Eight but Sasha Banks came down to the ring and hit Dana Brooke with a crutch. Sasha then hit Charlotte with the crutch and the referee didn’t see it. Bayley then hit the Bayley to Belly to win the match. After the match, Bayley celebrated with Sasha Banks and with the crowd.

Winner & New Raw Women’s Champion: Bayley

Reaction: It was awesome to see Bayley win her first Women’s Championship but I’m just assuming that she will wind up losing it back to Charlotte at Fastlane. Charlotte is still undefeated at PPVs but all she does is lose matches on Raw. Time will tell if Bayley gets an actual title reign or if the WWE decides to play hot potato again with the title. The match itself was very entertaining. Overall, Raw was the same as it has been since the brand split. There were some entertaining segments and matches scattered into a three hour show. The rest of the show was painfully dull.

Emmalina Makes Bizarre Debut On WWE RAW (Video)

39

After 17 weeks of videos promoting her transformation and WWE television return, Emma appeared on Monday’s RAW from Las Vegas as her new persona, Emmalina.

The hype surrounding Emmalina’s debut has become a running joke. Once we got a brief opportunity to meet this new incarnation, it quickly became apparent that we were in fact being trolled. Emmalina spent just a minute on stage to say WWE Universe will now witness the makeover from Emmalina to Emma.

We’ll see if Emma is kept off WWE television for another extended period. With WrestleMania around the corner, hopefully Emma joins the mix of RAW’s women’s division sooner or later.

WWE RAW Results & Discussion (2/13)

2,179

The January 13th edition of WWE RAW aired live from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, NV.

– Stephanie McMahon comes out to introduce us to RAW, and she is quickly interrupted by Roman Reigns. Reigns demands a match against Strowman tonight because he doesn’t want to wait until Fastlane. Stephanie declines, and Reigns gets in her face. Luke Gallows are Karl Anderson interrupt next, and Stephanie sets up a handicap match between them and Reigns. Reigns hops out of the ring and brawls with Gallows and Anderson around the ring until they’re pulled apart by referees.

Roman Reigns def. Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson via DQ: Anderson starts things off against Reigns and works on Reigns’ lower back. Reigns fires up and lays out both Gallows and Anderson, then hits a series of ten clotheslines on Anderson in the corner. Reigns follows up with a big boot on Anderson and Superman punches him. Gallows lays out Reigns from behind and beats him down with Anderson. The referee disqualifies Gallows and Anderson and calls for the bell as they pummel on Reigns. They go for the Magic Killer, but Reigns fights out and suplexes Gallows then throws him out of the ring. Reigns Superman punches Gallows off the apron, then boots Anderson in the face. Gallow and Anderson retreat to the back.

– Braun Strowman takes on Mark Henry later tonight.

Kofi Kingston def. Bo Dallas: The New Day cuts a promo on Dallas before the match, and once again talk about ice cream. Dallas controls the opening moments of the match, and rips up The New Day’s blueprints for their ice cream. Dallas gets too distracted talking trash to the other New Day members at ringside, and Kofi hits the S.O.S. for the win.

– WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville is backstage doing an interview when he is confronted by Jack Gallagher. They have a brief confrontation before Gallagher walks off.

Jack Gallagher def. Noam Dar: Austin Aries is on commentary for this one, and Alicia Fox is at ringside. Dar and Gallagher are evenly matched in the opening minutes, until Gallagher takes control with a headbutt to the face. Gallagher follows up with a running dropkick in the corner for the win. After the match, Neville comes out and stares down Gallagher.

– A black limo pulls up to the back of the T Mobile Arena. Samoa Joe and Triple H step out and head inside.

– Emmalina comes out next to the entrance ramp to announce that she has transformed “from Emma, to Emmalina.” She then says “Now you’ll see the makeover from Emmalina to Emma.” She walks backstage.

– Bayley cuts a promo in the back about her determination to take the Women’s Championship from Charlotte, despite being the last of the “Four Horsewomen” to make it to the main WWE roster.

– We get a look at Triple H talking to Kevin Owens backstage, but we don’t hear what they’re saying.

Braun Strowman def. Mark Henry: Henry and Strowman go back and forth with right hands. The referee orders them to break apart and gets between them, and Strowman throws a punch at Henry over the referee’s head that drops Henry. Strowman keeps Henry grounded and puts him in a chin lock. Henry fights back and starts throwing rights at Strowman. Henry clotheslines Strowman in the corner and goes for the World’s Strongest Slam, but Strowman fights out. Strowman hits Henry with a dropkick, then hits a running powerslam for the win.

– After the match, Roman Reigns comes out and hops up on the ring apron. Strowman bumps Reigns off onto the floor at ringside. Reigns stares at Strowman, then heads back to the ring. Reigns Superman punches Strowman and goes for a spear, but Strowman catches Reigns and hits a running powerslam.

– Samoa Joe is backstage with Michael Cole for a sit-down interview. Joe says the only opinion about his actions that matters is Triple H’s opinion, because he’s the one who gave him the opportunity. Joe says Triple H has given more people opportunities than anyone else, but no one else in NXT is on Joe’s level. He says the only reason they never brought Joe in earlier is because WWE was scared of hiring him. Joe says if anyone questions why he’s there, they’ll find out why “the creator” has unleashed “the destroyer” on RAW.

Sami Zayn def. Rusev: Lana is at ringside for this one. Rusev takes control early on, and the story of the match is Rusev slowly working on Sami’s back. There’s a turning point when Rusev misses a splash in the corner and bangs his head on the ring post. Rusev falls to the outside and gets back in the ring before the referee’s ten count, but he walks right into a Heluva Kick out of nowhere. Sami pins and gets the three count. After the match Zayn does an interview and gets interrupted by Samoa Joe. Joe beats down Zayn on the entrance ramp and throws him into the Titantron. Joe chokes out Zayn on the entrance ramp and leaves him laying there.

Akira Tozawa def. Ariya Daivari: Brian Kendrick is on commentary for this one. Daivari takes control of the match early on, until Tozawa boots him out to ringside. He follows up with a suicide dive on Daivari to the outside, and back in the ring hits a snap German suplex for the win after a short match. Kendrick applauds Tozawa after the match.

– Chris Jericho comes out with a bunch of dancers to welcome us to the Festival of Friendship, Vegas-style. Owens joins him shortly after, and they make their way down to the ring. The ring is covered in red carpet and has an item covered by a sheet in the middle. Jericho pulls away the sheet to reveal a $7,000 statue as a tribute to his friendship with Owens. Jericho unveils a painting next, showing Jericho and Owens touching fingers. Jericho suggests Owens hangs it in his home, but Owens says he has two kid and can’t have a painting of Jericho in his underwear on his wall. Jericho brings out a magician next who does some simple tricks. Owens calls out the magician for his basic tricks, and Jericho agrees, so he puts the magician on the list. Jericho then shifts gears to Goldberg and calls him out to the ring right now. Goldberg’s music hits, but Gillberg comes out instead. Owens beats down Gillberg on the ramp, then Owens gets mad at Jericho. Jericho says he thought Gillberg was funny, and he did all of this for Owens to show how much Owens means to him. Jericho says Owens is going to beat Goldberg at Fastlane because Jericho is going to make sure of it. Jericho says he loves Owens, and he’s always going to have his back, and that’s never going to change. Owens apologizes for getting mad, and tells Jericho he loves him too. Owens says he has a gift for Jericho too, and he gives him a new list. However, this list is “the list of KO,” and Jericho’s list is on it. Jericho realizes what he’s looking at, and Owens snaps and starts beating down Jericho. Owens takes Jericho to the outside and powerbombs him into the corner of the ring apron. Owens takes Jericho back in the ring and throws him into a glass sign in the ring. Owens pushes over Jericho’s expensive gifts and heads backstage as referees check on Jericho in the ring.

Cesaro def. Enzo Amore: Big Cass and Sheamus are both at ringside for this one. Enzo and Cesaro are offensively evenly matched early on. Cesaro hits a series of running European uppercuts on Enzo in the corners, but Enzo blocks one and drops Cesaro with a tornado DDT. Enzo runs off the ropes but Cesaro throws him up in the air and knocks him down with a European uppercut for the win.

Bayley vs. Charlotte: Charlotte’s Women’s Title is on the line in this one. They start things off going back and forth with chain wrestling until Bayley smashes Charlotte’s head into the turnbuckle ten times, then hits a splash off the middle rope for a two count. Charlotte comes back when she whips Bayley into the corner and starts pummeling on her. Charlotte gets Bayley in a couple different holds and then drops her with a neckbreaker. Bayley starts fighting back, but Charlotte drops her with knee strikes and throws her outside. Charlotte drops Bayley on the ringside floor and kicks her in the head, then climbs up on the fan barricade. Charlotte hits a moonsault off the barricade, then throws Bayley back in the ring for a two count. Bayley starts firing up, and they exchange blows until both women are down. Bayley gets up first and drops Charlotte with a clothesline, then follows up with a suplex. Bayley comes off the middle rope with a spinning elbow for a two count. Bayley hits a Stone Cold Stunner, then follows up with a side suplex shortly after. Bayley goes to the top rope and comes off with a flying elbow for a near-fall. Bayley sits Charlotte on the top turnbuckle and Frankensteiners her off for another near-fall. Dana Brooke comes out, but Bayley knocks her off the apron. Charlotte rolls up Bayley off the distraction, but Bayley gets out and puts Charlotte in the Figure Four. Dana rakes Bayley’s eyes behind the ref’s back, and Charlotte puts Bayley in the Figure Four. Sasha comes out and lays out Dana with a crutch, then hits Charlotte with the crutch behind the ref’s back. Bayley hits a belly to belly suplex on Charlotte for the win. Bayley celebrates with the Women’s Title and Sasha as RAW goes off the it.

Money in the Bank to be Exclusive to Smackdown Live

39

It looks as though only superstars from Smackdown Live will be able to compete for the Money in the Bank briefcase this year. Promotional materials for the event are advertising it as a Smackdown-exclusive event.

Money in the Bank 2017

Tickets for the event will go on sale Friday, and so far everything the WWE has sent out has indicated the event will not be open to both brands. This is unlike how the event was run during the previous brand-split era, where each brand would have their own separate MITB match. Under those rules however, the winning superstar could cash in their briefcase for a shot at either world title.

The event is scheduled for Sunday June 18th 2017 from the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Randy Orton’s hometown.

This doesn’t necessarily mean the RAW superstars won’t have their own MITB match, but so far all indications are the gimmick will be exclusive to Smackdown.

WWE’s full release can be viewed here.

Discussion: Have Titles Become Devalued In The WWE?

88

The WWE has made a habit out of playing hot potato with their titles. Last night at the Elimination Chamber, the WWE Championship and the Smackdown Women’s Championship changed hands. Bray Wyatt became the new WWE Champion and Naomi became the new Smackdown Women’s Champion. Both Naomi and Bray Wyatt captured their first single’s titles last night. Wyatt was the Smackdown Tag Team Champion recently but has never held a major title in the WWE until last night.

Alexa Bliss captured the Smackdown Women’s Championship on December 4th, 2016, at WWE TLC. She defeated Becky Lynch in a Tables Match. John Cena won the WWE Championship two weeks ago at the Royal Rumble. Cena defeated AJ Styles in a terrific match and tied Ric Flair’s record for most WWE / World Heavyweigh Championships. Many people were pissed off that Styles lost the title in the first place.

The WWE has seemingly made the decision that the amount of titles won means more than the title reign itself. Cena is now regarded as the 16x WWE Champion but his latest title reign amounted to nothing. Alexa Bliss only held the Smackdown Women’s Championship for two months and just dropped it to Naomi. She had a feud with Becky Lynch, emerged victorious thanks to Mickie James and then immediately dropped the belt. Charlotte and Sasha Banks spent several months trading the Raw Women’s Championship back and forth. Neither of them were given a legitimate title reign. Charlotte has held the title for a bit now but she still routinely loses non-title matches on Raw.

It feels like titles in the WWE have never meant less than they do now. Kevin Owens is currently the Universal Champion but nobody takes him seriously. He has relied on Chris Jericho to keep the title. He never wins a match on his own. Owens will now defend his Universal Championship at WWE Fastlane and everyone knows how that will play out. The only question is whether Brock Lesnar will interfere in the match or not. There is no way Kevin Owens will even put up a fight against Goldberg if nobody interferes. If Goldberg does win the Universal Championship at WWE Fastlane, he will then most likely lose it a month later to Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania.

Bray Wyatt Talks About Winning The WWE Championship

17

Bray Wyatt spoke with ESPN after capturing his first WWE Championship at last night’s Elimination Chamber pay-per-view. Wyatt says the victory is a symbolic “up yours” to the powers that be who never saw him as WWE Championship material.

“To me it was an up-yours to the authority, because when I walked into this, I don’t think anyone ever looked at me and said, ‘One day you’re going to be WWE champion'” Wyatt said.

“I’ve seen so many come and go over the years, and so many that look the part and thought they were something special and they just weren’t. And someone like me, I had to cut my teeth for years just to be recognized. No one looked at my direction. I had to grab them by the throat and make them look me in the eyes and say, ‘Look at me.’ This is a huge accomplishment for me, because no one else expected it but I always did.”

He said the victory indicates he’ll be in the main event of WrestleMania 33. He added that he didn’t get much time to celebrate his win yet because he needs to be in Oakland, California tonight for a SmackDown live event.

New UK Company UnPro Wrestling Debuting in August with a Stacked Roster

11

It has been well documented that the UK  independent wrestling scene is as hot now as it ever has been. New companies with top UK talents such as Lucha Forever, VII Pro Wrestling, Riot House Promotions and big money WCPW have been blossoming from the impact that top UK indies such as PROGRESS, ICW and Revolution Pro have had over the past few years.

With that another new company has emerged with their first event announced for the Hackney Showroom in London on August 20th. Known as Unprofessional Wrestling (@UnPro_Wrestling), they will be holding an 8-Man tournament to crown their first Champion and here are some of the bigger names that have been announced for the night:

‘Flash’ Morgan Webster – One of PROGRESS Wrestling’s most popular homegrown stars, Webster recently returned from an injury sustained against Zack Sabre Jr at the WWE Crusierweight Classic qualifying rounds back at PROGRESS Chapter 29.

Pastor William EaverA product of the PROGRESS Wrestling School (known as the ProJo), Pastor William Eaver has become one of the most beloved figures in PROGRESS today. He is now starting to make a name for his himself across the UK and Europe and looks set to have a big impact in 2017.

Jack SexsmithSexsmith is one of the most intriguing characters in wrestling today, having started as a comedy character in PROGRESS wrestling he has grown to be a huge crowd favourite that may possibly be in line for a world championship run at some point this year. American Alpha Is Currently The Only Viable Team On Smackdown

46

Last night at the Elimination Chamber, American Alpha retained their Smackdown Tag Team Championships. That is not surprising at all. In fact, there was really no reason to take the titles off of American Alpha. They are clearly the best team on Smackdown and deserve a long run with the belts. American Alpha defended their titles in a Tag Team Turmoil Match against every other team on the Smackdown roster.

In order for American Alpha to have an impressive run with the Smackdown Tag Team Championships, they need to have a legitimate opponent. There was no legitimate rival highlighted last night at the Elimination Chamber. Instead, American Alpha wound up looking like the only team worth a damn on Smackdown. Breezango was the first team eliminated. They were eliminated by Heath Slater and Rhyno, a team that has been at odds with each other for the past several weeks. The Vaudevillains were also eliminated by Slater & Rhyno. They were eliminated so quickly that most people forgot that they were even a part of the match.

Then there was The Ascension. The Usos were eliminated by American Alpha, but stuck around to beat the hell out of Gable and Jordan. The Ascension were the last team to enter the Tag Team Turmoil Match and everything was laid out perfectly for them. American Alpha were left decimated by The Usos. All they had to do was pick up the pieces and win the match. They couldn’t do it. Viktor wound up falling victim to the Grand Amplitude and Jason & Jordan wound up retaining their Smackdown Tag Team Championships.

In one match, Breezango, The Vaudevillians and The Ascension were made to look absolutely worthless. The only viable team on Smackdown right now besides AA is The Usos. American Alpha pinned The Usos last night as well. Unless Smackdown spends the next few weeks building up the teams that lost in this match, everyone will just be waiting for The Revival to finally show up.

Newest Member Of The Bullet Club Revealed

22

Frankie Kazarian turned on Christopher Daniels and joined the Bullet Club at Saturday night’s ROH television tapings.

While Adam Cole was gloating over The Bullet Club’s win over Jay Lethal, Bobby Fish and The Briscoes, Christopher Daniels, who was on commentary got into the ring to attack Cole. Daniels then grabbed a pair of scissors and hair clippers to shave Cole’s head.

Kazarian rushed to the ring to help his partner Christopher Daniels, but instead revealed a Bullet Club t-shirt and beat the crap out of Daniels with the rest of his new Bullet Club brothers.

The Wrestling World Reacts To Bray Wyatt Winning The WWE Championship

31

Bray Wyatt made history on Sunday night when he captured his first WWE Championship inside the Elimination Chamber. Wyatt ended Cena’s historic 16th title reign, which began just weeks ago at the Royal Rumble. It appears he’s now on a collision course with Rumble winner Randy Orton which will culminate in the main event of WrestleMania 33.

It’s been a long journey for Wyatt, who made his main roster debut back in November 2010 as Husky Harris in the Nexus faction. After a second stint at WWE developmental (FCW, then later NXT), he joined the main roster as Bray Wyatt in 2013. Widely regarded as a strong all-around performer, Wyatt has received an outpour of congratulations on social media.

Here are some reactions from the wrestling world:

WWE Elimination Chamber 2017 Recap & Reaction

28

Becky Lynch vs Mickie James

The match started out with both Superstars locked up with each other. Becky launched Mickie out of the ring and then kicked her off the ring apron when she tried to get back in the ring. Mickie James planted Lynch with a DDT back in the ring for a two count. Mickie then focused her attack on Lynch’s arm for the next few minutes and took a break or two to pose for the crowd. Mickie threw Becky into the ring post and connected with a Hurricanrana off of the second turnbuckle.

Becky Lynch batted back by connecting with a couple of Clotheslines and a kick to the face. Mickie hit a seated Senton off the top turnbuckle for a two count and the crowd started to chant “lets go Becky!”. Becky climbed to the top turnbuckle and hit a Dropkick for a two count. Mickie hit the Mick Kick but Becky was under the ropes. Mickie dragged Becky back to the middle of the ring and went for the pinfall but Becky kicked out at two. Becky then rolled up Mickie James for the pinfall victory.

Winner: Becky Lynch

Handicap Match: Apollo Crews & Kalisto vs Dolph Ziggler

Dolph Ziggler attacked Kalisto before the match. Ziggler then beatdown Crews for a few minutes. Kalisto limped his way back to the ring and Crews connected with a kick to the face. Crews then planted Ziggler with a Powerbomb for the victory. After the match, Ziggler attacked both Kalisto and Crews. Ziggler placed Crews’ ankle in the chair and stomped on it.

Winners: Apollo Crews & Kalisto

Reaction: The crowd chanted “thank you Ziggler!” after he attacked Apollo Crews. I’m guessing that is not the reaction the WWE was hoping for. I didn’t get this match at all. I figured that Ziggler would attack Kalisto before the match. I don’t get why he came back to the ring and Apollo Crews didn’t defeat Ziggler on his own. Instead, he needed Kalisto’s help and then still got his ass kicked after match. The crowd really didn’t care about the post-match attack and nobody was impressed that Crews and Kalisto won a Handicap match.

Tag Team Turmoil for the Smackdown Tag Team Championship: American Alpha vs The Usos vs Breezango vs Slater & Rhyno vs The Ascension vs The Vaudevillains

Slater & Rhyno started out the match with Breezango. Slater dominated Tyler Breeze early and then tagged in Rhyno as the crowd chanted “ECW!”. Rhyno controlled the match for the next few minutes but the momentum turned when Heath Slater got back in the match. Breeze and Fandango took turns stomping Slater in the corner. Fandango issued Slater a bunch of fashion tickets but got kicked in the face. Rhyno then knocked Breeze to the mat. Slater then tagged in Rhyno and he hit the Gore on Fandango and Breezango was eliminated.

Slater & Rhyno battled The Vaudevillians next. Simon and Aiden launched Rhyno into the barricade. Slater then hit a Crossbody onto The Vaudevillains. Back in the ring, The Vaudevillains beatdown Slater in the corner. Slater battled back and hit a DDT on Aiden English and The Vaudevillains were eliminated.

The Usos were next up to face Slater & Rhyno. Jimmy Uso beat the hell out of Slater for a minute as the crowd chanted “he’s got kids!”. Rhyno then entered the match but Jimmy Uso launched him into the turnbuckle. The Usos quickly eliminated Slater & Rhyno.

The Smackdown Tag Team Champions American Alpha were next to join the party. The Usos met them halfway up the entrance ramp and everyone traded punches. Chad Gable hit a Crossbody onto Jey Uso in the middle of the ring for a two count. Jimmy Uso entered the match and continued the assault on Gable. Jason Jordan finally got into the match and hit a Belly to Belly to Jey Uso. Gable tagged himself in and rolled up Jey Uso. After they were eliminated, The Usos attacked American Alpha.

The Ascension then came down to the ring as American Alpha tried to recover. The Ascension hit the Fall of Man on Jason Jordan but Gable broke up the pinfall. The Ascension beatdown Jordan in the corner. Jordan hit Viktor with a Belly to Belly Suplex. Jordan tagged in Gable and Konnor was knocked out of the ring. American Alpha then hit the Grand Amplitude and Jordan prevented Konnor from breaking up the pinfall.

Winners & Still Smackdown Tag Team Champions: American Alpha

Reaction: Breezango and The Vaudevillians remain complete jokes and The Ascension look worse than ever because they couldn’t capitalize on a beaten down American Alpha. Brilliant.

Natalya vs Nikki Bella

Natalya controlled the first few minutes of the match. The action spilled outside the ring and Nikki hit a Clothesline off of the ring apron. Natalya tried to call a timeout and then shoved Nikki into the ring post. Natalya then mocked John Cena’s “you can’t see me” hand motion and taunted the crowd. Natalya applied a Chinlock on Nikki for a bit. Eventually, Nikki battled out of the hold but Natalya knocked her to the mat and continued to mock her. Nikki’s family was in attendance and Natalya mocked them as well.

Nikki applied the STF but Natalya got to the bottom rope to break the hold. Natalya hit a Superplex on Nikki off of the top turnbuckle. Natalya applied the Sharpshooter but Nikki reversed it into another STF. Natalya once again reached the bottom rope to break the hold. The action spilled outside the ring and both Superstars were counted out. Natalya attacked Nikki Bella after the match. Natalya was attempting to leave but Nikki Bella ran after her and tackled her on the entrance ramp. Natalya then sprinted away as Nikki Bella stood tall.

Reaction: This was an okay match. The finish absolutely sucked but clearly this feud is not over.

Randy Orton vs Luke Harper

Harper controlled the match early. Orton knocked Harper out of the ring and posed on the turnbuckle. Orton then slammed Harper onto the announce table but the table didn’t break. Orton controlled the next several minutes of the match. Harper finally battled back and connected with a Senton and a boot to the face. Harper launched Orton out of the ring and followed it up with a Suicide Dive. Back in the ring, Orton connected with a Superplex. The crowd chanted “this is awesome” after the move. Harper hit two Superkicks in a row but Orton still kicked out at two. Harper planted Orton with a Powerbomb but once again Orton kicked out at two. Harper went for a Clothesline but Orton countered it into the RKO for the pinfall victory.

Winner: Randy Orton

Reaction: When the crowd started chanting “this is awesome!” after the Superplex I was very surprised. I certainly didn’t think it was an awesome match at the time. It did pick up towards the end and wound up being a solid match. It wasn’t “awesome” or an “instant classic” by any means but that is just my opinion. I think the rest of the show was so boring up until this match and people wound up overrating it.

Smackdown Women’s Championship Match: Alexa Bliss (c) vs Naomi

Alexa dominated the match early. Naomi fought back and connected with the Rear View. Bliss kicked out and then connected with a DDT. Naomi kicked out at two and Bliss threw a tantrum in the ring. Alexa Bliss rolled up Naomi and used the ropes for leverage but the referee caught it. Alexa went for the Twisted Bliss but Naomi got her knees up. Naomi then hit the split-legged Moonsault for the pinfall victory.

Winner & New Smackdown Women’s Champion: Naomi

Reaction: The crowd chanted “you deserve it!” as Naomi was presented with the Smackdown Women’s Championship. Naomi certainly does deserve it my opinion, I just don’t get why this happened now. Alexa Bliss was doing great with the belt. I would have rather seen this at Wrestlemania with some more build up to it. Instead, we have a new Smackdown Women’s Champion and at this rate we will have another new champion in a month. Naomi has been back on TV for a few weeks and is already Smackdown Women’s Champion. What does that mean when Eva Marie makes her return? Will she become Smackdown Women’s Champion? I’m joking. Well, at least I hope so.

Elimination Chamber Match for the WWE Championship: John Cena (c) vs Baron Corbin vs Bray Wyatt vs Dean Ambrose vs The Miz vs AJ Styles

Styles and Cena started off the match. Cena and Styles traded punches as the crowd went wild. Cena connected with a Sunset Flip Powerbomb for a two count. Cena went for the Five Knuckle Shuffle but the countdown started before he could pull off the move. Dean Ambrose was released from his pod and immediately launched Cena into the steel chamber. Ambrose then launched Styles into the chamber and Clotheslined him back into the ring. Ambrose slammed Styles onto the steel surrounding the ring and the crowd chanted “holy sh*t!”.

Ambrose then climbed on top of his pod and hit an Elbow Drop on Cena. Back in the ring, Cena hit a double German Suplex on Ambrose and Styles. AJ hit the Pele Kick on Cena and Ambrose hit the Lunatic Lariat on Styles. Bray Wyatt was next to enter the match and he immediately leveled Ambrose and Cena. Wyatt charged at Styles but AJ ducked and Wyatt fell out of the ring. Wyatt then launched Styles into the chamber. Wyatt was hung up on the second rope and Styles hit him with a Leg Drop.

Styles climbed up the chamber and Cena followed him. Styles and Cena traded punches but Styles got the upper hand and knocked him down to the steel floor. Styles and Ambrose battled on top of one of the pods. Ambrose knocked Styles down and went for an Elbow Drop on Wyatt but Bray caught him with a right hand. Bray launched Styles off the top turnbuckle and Ambrose planted Bray with a Powerbomb at the same time. Baron Corbin then entered the match and battled with Dean Ambrose.

Corbin planted Ambrose with a Clothesline and threw him out of the ring. Corbin smashed Ambrose’s head into the steel a couple of times. Back in the ring, Corbin planted Ambrose with a Deep Six. Corbin launched Wyatt into a pod and then connected with a boot to his face. Styles landed several punches on Corbin but Baron hit an End of Days on Styles. Cena then came back into the ring and applied an STF to Corbin but Baron powered out of it. Corbin then hit an End of Days on Cena. Ambrose Clotheslined Corbin out of the ring and slung him into the steel chamber several times. Corbin fought back and launched him into the steel and one of the pods.

The Miz took his time getting out of his pod as Corbin was waiting for him. Ambrose rolled up Corbin and he was eliminated. Corbin then attacked Dean Ambrose and threw him through one of the pods. The Miz looked on in fear as he still had not exited the pod. Corbin hit Ambrose several times as he was pressed up against the steel. Corbin then planted Ambrose with an End of Days and finally exited the ring.

The Miz finally exited the pod and pinned Dean Ambrose to eliminate him. The Miz celebrated and pointed to the Wrestlemania sign. The Miz then did the “Yes!” chant and hit several Yes Kicks onto Cena and Bray Wyatt. Styles got back into the ring but The Miz hit him with several kicks in the corner. Cena, Styles and Wyatt were all leaning against a turnbuckle. The Miz hit a corner Dropkick onto all three of them. The Miz climbed to the top turnbuckle but Bray dragged him down. Miz then hit a Skull Crushing Finale on Bray onto the steel. The Miz went for a Crossbody but Cena caught him and hit an Attitude Adjustment. Cena then pinned The Miz to eliminate him.

Styles and Bray Wyatt then attacked Cena from behind. Bray held up Cena and AJ punched him. Styles then gloated and Wyatt punched him in the face. Bray went for a Senton but Cena moved out of the way. Cena then planted Styles and Wyatt. Cena hit a Ten Knuckle Shuffle onto both Wyatt and Cena. Cena hit an Attitude Adjustment onto Wyatt and went for one on AJ but Styles reversed into a Styles Clash for a two count. Styles went for the Phenomenal Forearm but Cena ducked and hit an Attitude Adjustment but AJ kicked out at two.

Cena climbed on top of a pod outside the ring and pointed to the Wrestlemania sign. Cena then hit a Crossbody on both Styles and Wyatt. Cena went for an Attitude Adjustment on Cena but Wyatt countered it into a Sister Abigail. Wyatt then pinned John Cena to eliminate him and the crowd erupted. It was now down to AJ Styles and Bray Wyatt.

Bray beatdown Styles with several forearms to the back of AJ’s head. AJ hit a Dropkick to the knees of Wyatt and then hit a forearm to Bray’s head. Styles went for a pin but Bray kicked out at two. Bray connected with a massive Clothesline for a two count. Styles connected with a Pele Kick and followed it up with a knee to the head of Wyatt. Styles hit a springboard 450 Splash for a two count. Styles went for the Phenomenal Forearm but Bray caught him and planted him with the Sister Abigail for the victory. After the match, Randy Orton stared at Bray Wyatt from the entrance ramp.

Winner & New WWE Champion: Bray Wyatt

https://twitter.com/WWE/status/830991085455290369

Reaction: The Elimination Chamber match saved this PPV from being completely forgettable. I thought the match was excellent. Bray Wyatt won the match fairly. He pinned John Cena and AJ Styles clean. There was no outside interference, instead Wyatt simply dominated. I’ve said for a long time that Bray Wyatt was the most underutilized Superstar on the WWE roster. I’m very happy that there were no shenanigans involved in this match. Bray Wyatt won the match and held up the WWE Championship to close out the show. That was a moment that Bray Wyatt has deserved for a very long time.

Bray Wyatt: There Is Finally A Reason To Fear The Eater Of Worlds (Editorial)

28

On September 29th, 2016, I wrote an article for SEScoops entitled Why Would Anyone In The WWE Fear Bray Wyatt? For years, Bray Wyatt had been cutting amazing promos. He could control an entire arena with a microphone and always held everyone’s attention. The only problem was that after his promos, he pretty much lost every match he competed in. His promos were then rendered meaningless because he never backed up his words. He was all talk. Wyatt often referred to himself as a god and the “Eater of Worlds”. He was neither in the WWE. He was a glorified jobber for years. It made absolutely zero sense that he was in that position, but he was. Night after night he would lose and it seemed like he was destined to be another wasted talent in the WWE.

Everything changed when the brand split happened. Bray Wyatt got a fresh start on what many people consider the “B” show. Monday Night Raw is considered the “A” show, although many would argue that Smackdown has been the better show since the brand split. In my opinion, Smackdown is the “A” show. It is the place where talents like The Miz, AJ Styles, Baron Corbin and Bray Wyatt can flourish. Monday Night Raw is the place where Goldberg can squash the Universal Champion on the PPV heading into Wrestlemania.

Bray Wyatt was given a chance to be relevant by the brand split. He won his first WWE gold by capturing the Smackdown Tag Team Championships alongside Randy Orton and Luke Harper. He captured his first WWE Championship last night at the Elimination Chamber. He probably will not be given the main event at Wrestlemania, that is reserved for the big-named part-timers, but he is still WWE Champion nonetheless. He defeated both John Cena and AJ Styles with the Sister Abigail. He pinned them clean. Finally, there is a reason to fear Bray Wyatt. Finally, there is a reason to take him seriously. Finally, the WWE is giving him the oppurtunity he has deserved for years.
