Photos: Zahra Schreiber Trending Worldwide Due To Controversial Swastika Photos

74

As noted, Zahra Schreiber, real-life girlfriend of Seth Rollins, made her NXT debut alongside Solomon Crowe as Crowe’s younger sister during the NXT live event on Saturday night. Schreiber, however, has already found herself in the middle of a pretty serious controversy.

Schreiber is trending worldwide on Twitter after her debut on Saturday night, largely because of the fact that she debuted at an NXT show with a new character, and partially because of the fact that Schreiber posted some Instagram photos in 2012 that contained a swastika.

She has since deleted the photos, but they resurfaced shortly after her NXT debut on Saturday night, with some fans even sending the photos to Triple H and asking him for his thoughts.

Below are screen shots of the posts Schreiber made on Instagram.

Both Love and Sky responded to the news on Twitter.

Video: Fan Tries To Attack Dean Ambrose At WWE SmackDown Taping

38

Dean Ambrose dodged a bullet at the WWE SmackDown television taping in Providence, Rhode Island on Tuesday night, as a fan jumped the guard rail and tried to attack the WWE performer during the show.

After Ambrose won his match at the taping and was headed to the backstage area, a fan jumped the guard rail and tried to attack Ambrose, but was taken down by security.

Some fans in attendance claim that the fan had an object in his hand and was attempting to stab Ambrose, however that has yet to be confirmed as of this writing.

Dean Ambrose Talks Roddy Piper Comparisons, Chemistry With Seth Rollins & More

6

WWE Superstar Dean Ambrose recently appeared as a guest on The Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling podcast. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On how his preparation differs from other WWE Superstars: “I like to take things moment to moment. I don’t try to be anything that I’m not because that would be in-authentic and I was blessed with certain talents and certain abilities and others I wasn’t. I try to do things I do and do them well and I don’t try to pretend to be anything that I’m not. If I’m in a bad mood, your gonna get Dean Ambrose in a bad mood. If I’m in a good mood your gonna get happy, fun Dean Ambrose that day. I would literally take whatever I’m feeling, that’s just what you will see in the ring.

I like to just be myself and I just go out there and kind of just do whatever I want to my own devices and it’s kind of just not just the fans but WWE slowly realized another Dean Ambrose isn’t going to walk through the door anytime soon. So I kind of occupy my own space and kind of carve out my own little spot. Fans don’t want to tune in and see you do the same things every week and when they hear your music for me they like to think that any wild thing may happen when I come through the curtain because sometimes I don’t know. I make as much up as I possibly can as I go along.”

On his memories of the late “Rowdy” Roddy Piper: “Everybody loves Roddy Piper. There’s so many of these shocking out of nowhere passings and it’s so weird because these are the guys that my generation grew up watching, it sucks. Everybody loves The Hot Rod and my favorite Roddy Piper memory is a very specific one because I recently not too long ago watched it. Starrcade 96 when he fought Hogan for the Championship when he came back to WCW, it was a terrible, sloppy match with two old guys but awesome and was such a spectacle.

The cool part of it was his entrance. One of the best entrances you will ever see if you really watch it and you are into the story and you really watch what he is doing, it’s like this death march to the ring. You have this on-going decade long blood-feud with Hogan and he knows that he is going to get beat up by the nWo and ganged up on 20-1 and it’s a one man war against the nWo and he’s just coming down the aisle as simple as can be, no flashy entrance or pyrotechnics. In WWE everyone has the special entrance.

In NXT they have a dance move that they do and they get in the ring the same way every time and its like their schtick. It was so refreshing to go back and watch that because he comes out and just stares at the ring and burns a hole with his eyes and walks down the aisle as simple as humanly possible. His eyes are just cold and it just tells so much, you know he is willing to go in there in the middle of that ring. He is going to fight to the end. If he walks away with the championship, cool but he’s prepared for this to be the end. It’s very intense and most people who watch it wouldn’t put that much thought into it but get on WWE Network, watch Starrcade 96 and just watch Piper’s entrance it’s such a cool thing.”

On being compared to stars such as Piper, Terry Funk and Brian Pillman: “I really can’t answer that because I try not to put any thought into what I am doing. I go by what I feel, whatever happens, happens. I think a lot of those guys probably thought the same way.”

On the reason he works so well with Seth Rollins: “Our styles just meshed well. First time we ever wrestled was in FCW. We never crossed paths before. It was maybe one of the first times that people started to pay attention to what was going on in Developmental just from a wrestling standpoint. I had a certain following and he had kind of ran with a different crowd on the indy scene like Ring of Honor and it kind of was a clash of indy worlds happening in Developmental. It just clicked immediately. I felt that stuff that he did was complimenting the stuff that I did.

The stretching and they physical stuff in the holds, it was such a phsyical style I was doing at the time and just kind of meshed with his and it was like peanut butter and jelly, like mixed perfectly together the stuff that we were doing. He is such a smart guy and visualizes and comes up with cool things and then you have just the way that I would like go off-the-cuff a lot of times, we could go out and wrestle thirty minutes and literally not talk at all before hand, it just meshes well and then you know WWE styles still mesh and it’s hard to explain. There’s just that certain chemistry with people. He’s so good, its like anyone can have a good match with Seth Rollins and we kind of bring out the best in each other from a healthy competitive standpoint and all the great opponents always had that together like Ric Flair/Ricky Steamboat and Nick Bockwinkel/ Verne Gagne.”

On who in WWE tries to bring down the house the most: “I think all of the core group of guys right now, myself, Seth Rollins, Roman Reigns, Cesaro, The Wyatts I think we all have that competitive chemistry with each other because we are kind of pushing each other and we are the guys kind of carrying the load right now as far as 300 nights a year. We are the guys who are counted on to tear the house down and wrestle 15-20 minutes on Raw each week and I think that’s a real healthy thing across the board.”

Roman Reigns Talks WrestleMania Dream Match, Most Painful Moment In The Ring

21

WWE Superstar Roman Reigns recently spoke with Tallahassee.com to promote Sunday’s WWE live event in the city. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On his workout routine: “My workouts are all about moving a lot weight very fast. I’m old school. I do squats, Olympic lifts and heavy compound movements. I’m not the guy, who is going to be flipping a log 50 times. I have always trained for explosion and it shows in the ring.”

On the most painful thing to ever happen to him in the ring: “Anytime a grown man picks you up over his head with the intention of dropping it’s going to hurt. But if I had to pick one, it would be the time Big Show, who is over 7 feet, choke-slammed me out of the ring and through some tables. I threw up blood for a couple of days after that one.”

On who he would like to have a program with that culminates at WrestleMania: “No matter what I’m going to always want to take the belt of Rollins. He stole my moment and I’ll never forget what he did to me. It may look like my hands are full with the Wyatt’s, but Seth is always on my mind. I won’t feel complete until I pay him back.”

Hulk Hogan Appearing On Mainstream Shows On Monday To Talk Racism Controversy

29

Tanner Talks WWE Tough Enough, Heat With Z.Z., Daniel Bryan’s Influence & More

1

WWE Tough Enough contestant Tanner recently appeared as a guest on The Two Man Power Trip Of Wrestling podcast. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On his overall feelings of the Tough Enough experience: “I was definitely blessed for the whole experience and the opportunity that was given to me and I have no regrets going through it. There were just a few things that maybe needed a bit more work, I just didn’t have time to improve fast enough on I guess. Overall the experience was mind-blowing. The way the Superstars interacted with us and the hospitality and sense of family that was built was an incredible experience.”

On breaking into the business via the Tough Enough casting process vs. traditional training: “I think we are in a new age now so there are different tools that maybe are being utilized and experimenting with some ways that are social media based and we have to rely on votes from our fans. We had to impress our fans, judges and coaches so I think all that tied in and gives you different perspective and lets everyone know what the WWE Universe is looking for.”

On any resentment from the veterans or trainers: “They worked with us and there was no hesitation or I never got a no. Any question I had or anytime I tried to work with them extra or any question I ever had they were all more than willing to accommodate and help out. I didn’t feel any resentment from them and I think they understand the business is trying to grow every day and is trying to do something new and they are trying to pass on their legacy towards us so we can uphold the traditions and stuff. Just to be put in that opportunity, they dealt well with us and taught us a lot.”

On the format of judges, host and trainers all being current or former Superstars: “I thought it was enjoyable and at times thought it was frustrating or nerve-wracking. You have to wonder do I have to impress the coaches this week during a challenge and then I’m going to have to impress the judges who maybe think something differently. There are different styles and they do all have different styles between the coaches and the trainers so maybe one thing that Billy Gunn loves Daniel Bryan may not like so much. Things like that and what you are thinking when you are going out there, then it comes down to the WWE Universe and your votes and your career depends on impressing them as well. It’s real confusing at times, who you are impressing and who you are angering.”

On Daniel Bryan’s influence on Tanner during the competition: “Daniel Bryan to me is a great guy. I had a few moments where I could sit down and talk with him off camera and he was in the weight room a couple of times and he is really an awesome dude, very humble, very knowledgeable. His outlook on how to approach things and just how he looks at situations are refreshing to see something like that. I try to stay out of mainstream stuff and that kind of thinking and he seems to have a similar thought process and so that is refreshing to see something like that and to interact with someone as well.”

On his personality and charisma being a focus of the judges: “Everything I learn, I just have to learn very mechanically. I have to learn the steps of how to do things and small things like that. To have my athletics at the high level that they are would give me time to focus on those fine tuning of the personality expressions and stuff. The Miz said to me that we see you in the reality portion, we see your personality and the only problem is not doing that in the ring. I just don’t entirely know how to and honestly I just need to learn and with a couple of acting classes or promo classes I can learn anything. Learning how to do that and learning how to express whether through my face or body language just putting my stage presence out there as being more dominant is what I am lacking.”

On heat with ZZ and the picture Tanner posted on Social Media of ZZ entering Burger King: “That was actually sparked by a message I received from ZZ. Upon returning back home. I don’t have a lot of money, I have to work for everything I have so I am in the process of trying to set myself up to be able to train and support myself financially as well so coming back home so I went to an (MMA) fight and the promoter promoted me a bit because he had a lot of WWE fans there and I went to another fight this past Saturday night and I think that is why ZZ said what he said. ZZ said to me in a message I thought that you really wanted to do this (wrestling) and the first thing you do is go back home and you are back into your MMA world. I took that very offensively, coming from him. In my opinion he doesn’t understand the struggles I have to go through financially and that I make money off this. This is how I pay my rent and utilities. I think ZZ being so young he may not understand to struggle financially, I’m pretty sure his parents are paying for all of his stuff, he’s 19 he’s probably still living at home. I felt the need to expose the lies that he was claiming that he was eating healthier and he is eating better and manipulating the crowd and there he is. We go out to eat healthy and he walks over to Burger King. Don’t call me out on making a living for myself while you are doing your own thing and manipulating the world.”

Lance Storm Criticizes WWE’s Divas Revolution, Explains Why Fans Aren’t Buying It

43

Former WWE, WCW and ECW star Lance Storm has updated the Q&A section of his website and posted a lengthy response when asked about his thoughts on WWE’s Divas Revolution. Storm argues that WWE is failing in their attempt to resuscitate the women’s division, why fans aren’t buying and it what must be done for the new era of women’s wrestling to truly begin. Storm wrote:

“Before I get into my thoughts on what they are doing let me first state that I am a big fan and supporter of women’s wrestling and have a great deal of respect for many of the women involved in the “Divas revolution”. For the most part I think the Divas Revolution is being screwed and unless they change the way it is being presented it will fail, or at least not succeed to the level it could or more importantly should. To fully understand why you have to look at how the women are presented in NXT and how that enabled them to get over to the level that they did, and then look at how they are being presented in WWE and consider if that will also allow them to get over to that same level.

In NXT they are women wrestlers, they are competing for the NXT Women’s Championship; a title belt that looks credible (actually better than the Men’s Title in my opinion) and therefore can be respected. We were never told that the women were going to be taken seriously or that they were going to have good matches and be respected. They were just presented on the show in a respectable light, allowed to focus on competing to be a champion, and given enough time to do a good job if they were able. The women worked hard, had good matches, were given good angles, and fans started to care, and they got over. It was in a sense Organic.

In WWE the women are “Divas” a term when used in any other industry is a derogatory term referring to stuck up bitchy women. They compete (occasionally) for the Diva’s Title, which is a purple belt with a butterfly on it. At best this looks like a Barbie toy belt and at worst it’s derogatory and offensive because of the female sexual euphemism for butterfly. The women in WWE need a new title belt to compete for and in all honesty it needs to be renamed the WWE Women’s World Title.

Furthermore coming out and telling us there is a Diva’s Revolution and the women are going to be good and important now, was a big mistake. Don’t tell us it’s going to be good, just let it be good and we will come to that conclusion all on our own, like we did with NXT. Also in NXT each woman was given her turn to be focused on and chase the title. This allowed us to get behind them and follow their journey and struggle, while keeping the focus on becoming Champion. In WWE we are getting 3 groups of 3, which makes it near impossible to focus on the women individually and form an attachment to any of them and it has completely removed the focus on the title and being a champion.

In NXT the women got over one at a time. Paige won the first NXT Women’s Title Tournament in a really good match with Emma, which started the ball rolling. When Paige got called up, she was stripped of the title and another tournament was held. Charlotte won this tournament in an awesome match with Nattie, to set her up and get her over. Sasha was then pushed and focused on and she got over, with Becky in a secondary role. Baylee was used to get Charlotte and Sasha over while building her own underdog status. Becky then got the focus and the push and she got over huge even in losing her title challenge (an amazing accomplishment). The long slow build was then finally paid off with Baylee in Brooklyn and we all saw what a great reaction she got winning the title.

Since the start of the Diva’s revolution on RAW the title has not been the focus at all. PCB are faces, Team BAD are heels, and Team Bella float back and forth. All are getting wins and losses, no one is moving forwards or backwards and no individual is getting focus on directly. We are constantly being told it’s a new era, but to be honest we are just getting slightly longer, slightly better matches, with a few new faces.

When the crowd on RAW in Brooklyn turned on the women’s match it wasn’t the fault of the crowd nor the fault of the women, it was the way it was presented. In the promo to set up the match Nikki Bella actually said that wins and losses didn’t matter and that these muti-diva matches are pointless. She said the only thing that mattered was the Diva’s Title and how she will soon be the longest reigning Diva’s Champ of all time. How can anyone be surprised or angry that the crowd gave up on the match that followed when they were flat out told before it started that it didn’t matter? Furthermore how can we care about Nikki’s long title reign when I doubt anyone even remember the last time she defended it?

I do remember both Sasha and Charlotte making Nikki tap out to win tag matches, a fact that wasn’t focus on, nor did it earn them a title match. To get this thing over you have to completely overhaul the way in which it is presented, like they did in NXT. You must focus on each woman in turn with a constant focus on the Championship. Unfortunately because they also have to focus on and promote Total Divas, they have to focus on a large group of women, in particularly the Bellas, so this may be impossible. The Bellas have improved a ton over the last couple years and they are more than capable of having good matches, but in my opinion as long as they are being focused on, this will never feel new.”

Backstage News On The Finish To Undertaker vs. Lesnar At SummerSlam

25

Heading into SummerSlam this past weekend, there were a lot of questions surrounding how WWE would handle the finish to the Brock Lesnar vs. Undertaker main event. With Brock Lesnar’s historic win over The Undertaker at WrestleMania 30 and the Dead Man getting some heel heat prior to the showdown, fans were wondering who would walk out victorious and whether the match would be the end of their storied rivalry.

What we got at SummerSlam was a controversial finish that initially came off as sloppy and disjointed but did provide a solution that allows the feud to continue without damaging the viability of either man.

According to the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Vince McMahon felt like The Undertaker had to win this match but he didn’t want Lesnar to suffer a clean loss. There will almost certainly be a final chapter of Undertaker vs. Lesnar, but it remains to be seen whether WWE can wait 9 months until WrestleMania 32 before pulling the trigger.  Undertaker tapping out without the referee seeing it and Lesnar passing out without giving up accomplished this objective.
