Sgt. Slaughter Talks Rock vs. Brock Lesnar Rumors, Kevin Nash/WWE & More

0

WWE Hall Of Famer Sgt. Slaughter recently spoke with Scott Fishman of the Miami Herald about a number of subjects. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On a possible match between The Rock and Brock Lesnar: “That would be an incredible match. Especially now that both have matured in their businesses.”

On recruiting Kevin Nash to WWE: “Whether Shawn Michaels called him or not, I did discover Diesel in a box of tapes one time. I showed it to Vince McMahon, and he told me to give him a tryout…I’ve been around a long time. Coming up the ranks I’ve got to see those who were sons of professional wrestlers get in the ring when they were five years old. I would wrestle around with them. Guys like The Rock and Randy Orton. Just to see some of the other Samoan kids now. That’s all they thought about was professional wrestling. They would get in the ring, and we would work out with them. Now to see them blossoming the proper way to get into pro wrestling and sports entertainment business, just makes your heart feel good.”

Finn Balor On His Trademark Body Paint Look, WWE Allowing Him To Use It

NXT Champion Finn Balor was recently interviewed at the San Diego Comic Con about his new action figure in the United States, as well as his trademark body paint look. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On his first U.S. action figure: “Excited and surprised. I wasn’t aware I was getting a figure until today, and I wasn’t actually aware I was coming today until yesterday at 3 pm. I’m as surprised as anyone.”

On his unique body paint look: “It goes back to when I was in Japan, and I was looking for something new to do outside the box. I toyed with the idea of wearing a full bodysuit or a mask. It was originally meant to be a once-off for the Tokyo Dome. It got a great reaction, and one show led to another, and it became a whole big thing.”

On using the body paint look in WWE: “When I left the independents and New Japan, I thought I was leaving that part of my personality behind me. When I arrived here in WWE, I had a meeting and I laid it all on the table and they said ‘we want you to try it here sometime.'”

Longtime WWE Employee Gets Personal With Matt Hardy’s Wife On Social Media

27

Longtime WWE seamstress Julie Youngberg, who is the wife of Shannon Moore, has been involved in a spat with Reby Sky — the wife of Matt Hardy — on the internet recently. Youngberg had been hacked recently, and accused Hardy and Sky of being responsible.

She wrote the following on Facebook:

“So great news. The police came over the other day who are working on my case of the person/people who are hacking me, stalking me, making up horrible lies, slander, etc and are trying to break up the beautiful marriage Shannon and I have. Funny enough the cops traced the emails back to a town none other than Cameron NC!!! Hmmm…lol, Just a little more time before they crack the false name the acct was opened under but they are working on it. Let’s just say what comes around goes around and sorry assholes Shannon and I love each other way too much to let psychopaths like you with nothing better to do with your lives or time than to try and ruin ours. Your pathetic and sad excuses for human beings. If I were you right now I’d be extremely nervous for the outcome.”

The spat then got personal when Youngberg insinuated that Hardy’s newborn baby is not actually Matt’s.

Finally, Youngberg posted the following message on Saturday night regarding her comments benig racist:

“For all u people who think I said something racist lol….what I said was “my hackers wife”….according to our police investigation of being harassed 4 the passed 6 years, those emails have been now discovered to have come from Caneron NC….so unless u are the hackers wife there’s no reason to have an issue.”

On possibly having a big Divas elimination match at Survivor Series: “That might work but I agree that something needs to be done with the main roster Divas. Any creative idea is all about the build and execution as many things solely look good on paper.”

On if WWE will have Conor McGregor at WrestleMania 32: “Haven’t thought that aspect of it through but if Rousey is in Wrestlemania Texas she would likely be the only UFC star involved.”

On Undertaker’s future: “I don’t share the feeling that the match has been overlooked. I see Taker perhaps having one more match this year and calling it a career at Wrestlemania Texas.”

Taking to his Facebook page, the Hardcore Legend wrote:

“I CHANGED MY MIND
I used to think that Cesaro was a guy who would have made a great world-champion in a BYGONE era – a champion in the mold of a Lou Thesz, a Harley Race, a Jack Brisco, a Dory Funk Jr. But after seeing Cesaro in action these past few weeks, I’ve changed my mind, Cesaro would make a great world-champion in ANY era, including the PRESENT WWE era!
I’d love to see Cesaro – WWE added into the Kevin Owens John Cena – WWE Universe mix at some point – possibly at Summerslam,”

Titus O’Neil Talks Winning Celebrity Dad Award, NXT Main Roster Call-Ups & More

0

One-half of the WWE Tag-Team Champions, Titus O’Neil, recently spoke with AL.com to promote Tuesday’s WWE SmackDown television taping in Birmingham, Alabama. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On his favorite tag-team of all-time: “I have two. It’d be the New Age Outlaws as well as the Rock ‘N Sock Connection. Mainly because of the entertainment value that both of those teams brought to the table. That’s what people remember them by. They were phenomenal athletes and great wrestlers, but they had a charisma and an energy unlike any other tag team on the roster at the time that they were doing it. It made for very entertaining television and very good storytelling. That’s what what me and Darren pride ourselves in doing, being the roughest-toughest but also being the most entertaining tag team on the roster.”

On seeing so many talents transition from NXT to WWE: “The whole set-up of WWE and NXT, from the WWE Performance Center, which is state of the art, one of the top facilities in all of sports and entertainment — if anybody gets an opportunity to walk through those doors, then they automatically qualify themselves to come up on the main roster and be successful. We have some very talented individuals, both on the main roster and the NXT roster. Any given day, any of them girls and guys can come up and be successful. The evolution of NXT being an international brand now, they get an opportunity to feel crowds. Before, we didn’t have that. Most of our matches were in much smaller crowds and arenas. I’m very happy to see all these guys and girls doing well. I came up along with them. When you know the hard work they put in, as a teammate you definitely want to root for that person.”

Congratulations on winning the Celebrity Dad of the Year award. You and your sons also participated in the WWE’s Take Time to be a Dad public service announcements. I think the perception about being a parent in the WWE is that it’s tough because of how often you all are on the road. What kind of reinforcement does that recognition give you as a dad who makes a point to make time for his kids with such a demanding schedule?

On winning the Celebrity Dad of the Year award: “I feel like me winning that award, it validates the importance of it not being about how much money you spend on your kid or how much money you make. It really is about how much time you spend with your kids. The whole “Take Time to Be a Dad” campaign, I live that. The smallest moment can leave lasting memories. That’s true. It can make the biggest impact on a child’s life. I see parents try to live through their kids. They’re constantly putting them under pressure to be successful. I try to live for my kids and not through my kids. As a WWE superstar, we don’t have an easy route. I’m sharing this award with all of the fathers that take time to not only embrace the greatest honor a man can ever be given, but also to promote it, that father hood is important because it is.

We have a lot of guys that are fathers in this company. Mark Henry, Big Show, Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, Roman Reigns, Sin Cara. There are so many great fathers in this company who know what it means to make sacrifices. We are men, human beings just like everyone else.”

Update On Sasha Banks And Charlotte Coming To The Main Roster

12

The main roster debuts of Charlotte and NXT Women’s Champion Sasha Banks have been spoken about quite a bit over the past few months.

This coming Wednesday on WWE NXT the pair will face off against each other for the NXT Women’s Championship after Charlotte joined forces with Banks last week to take on Dana Brooke and Emma.

It’s expected that when the pair do come up to the main roster, they’ll be featured in the feud that Paige is currently having with The Bella Twins.

Their debut was speculated on last week’s episode of RAW, and again some are expecting it to take place again tomorrow night (July 13th) but this could all change.

According to Wrestling Observer Radio with Dave Meltzer, the WWE have recently provided staff down at NXT with a memo which states who they won’t be using in upcoming storylines for later in the year.

Neither Sasha Banks or Charlotte were featured on that list is a strong indication that their main roster debuts could be imminent.

Brie Bella On Daniel Bryan And His Current Injury, Nikki’s Reign, And More

2

At present, former WWE Champion Daniel Bryan is currently out of action following an injury, however he’s working on Tough Enough as a judge alongside Hulk Hogan and Paige.

His wife, WWE Diva Brie Bella spoke recently with The Mirror newspaper in the UK and spoke about Total Divas, and how her husband is currently dealing with the injury that is threatening his career.

Below are highlights from the interview.

On how Daniel Bryan is doing with his career threatening injury:

“You know he’s doing really well, he is, but it has been very hard. This injury unlike any other has just been the hardest because in the past we at least knew ‘okay it’s surgery, this long to recover’, he unfortunately had a relapse, but then we knew how long it would be to recover after the relapse. But with this one it’s so unclear and that’s the hard thing. As a wife, to put myself away from wrestling, as a wife it’s so hard to see your husband go through this. I mean, you know when doctors are starting to think, and you see his dreams come crashing down, it breaks my heart. To the point where I wish I was in his position and he was in mine because I hate seeing him like that. But my husband has so much fight in him and he tells me every day ‘I’m getting back in that ring, just you watch’ and I’m like ‘oh I bet you will’. I have his support 100% and I really think he will get back in there, I really do. He doesn’t see it any other way.”

If she believes that her sister Nikki will become the longest reigning Divas Champion:

“I hope so, I really do. But you know what? The one thing I really like about my sister is when I look at her holding this title, she says ‘I don’t care about the length of the reign, I care about the fight’. She has been the number one champion for putting that title on the line. That’s what Nikki cares about and keeps asking, every week she wants to put the title on the line. She wants to fight for it constantly and that’s her mentality. I really hope she does but she wants the NXT girls to come up and start fighting for it, she has a different outlook, she wants to change the division. I hope we start seeing that soon. The girls down in NXT are tremendous wrestlers and I hope we see them on the roster soon.”

On working a big storyline with her sister Nikki and Stephanie McMahon this time last year:

“Oh, it was the highlight of my career. It was amazing to work with Stephanie McMahon, you know for a Diva it was amazing to have a great story. And to have it happen organically from the Daniel Bryan situation. You know Stephanie and I main evented Raw two weeks in a row. Just as women. We had no men in our storyline, it was just two women who had beef. And then when we were going into SummerSlam to have Vince McMahon tell us that we helped sell the pay-per-view and that was the main story going in, it was incredible. Those are moments I will be telling my grandchildren, that I will remember forever. And the best part too, someone like her was bullying my husband and I got be the bitch that stepped in and put her in her place.”

TNA Heavyweight Champion Ethan Carter III On WWE, Influences, And More

6

Current TNA World Heavyweight Champion Ethan Carter III, also known as EC3 featured on The Chad Dukes Wrestling Show where he spoke about winning the title from Kurt Angle.

EC3 also spoke about influences on his character, his release from the WWE and the challenges you can face when you work so much televised wrestling.

On the influences for his character E3C explained:

Like a Stone Cold, a Rock, a Kurt Angle, a John Cena were guys that can, they are entertaining and they can entertain you and they can make you laugh a little bit, but they’re not comedy. They’re not out there pulling a sock out of their junk, they’re not with a little Anaconda thing doing finger pokes of doom. They’re entertaining and being entertaining and endears you to the fans to either love you or love to hate you. As opposed to being, you know, our business is kind of ridiculous in a sense that when you take it uberly seriously, right off the bat, I think that it’s hard, at least from my perception, it’s hard to endear to a character when it’s too dry. I think there needs to be different levels of entertaining but to be able to be serious is also important especially when you’re in a main angle or main guy because comedy can only get you so far, where an entertaining personality who takes this business very seriously is what makes money.”

On his release from WWE and heading to TNA, EC3 said:

“I always look at that Stone Cold mentality. Steve Austin, Stunning Steve over in WCW was always a good hand, but he just never breaks through, whether it was on him or was on to someone not seeing it in him. He kind of had a rough deal on his exit. Wasn’t he fired via FedEx or something just ridiculous like that while he was injured? Kind of a similar mindset that I had and experienced. You take that motivation, even though he was a guy that’s probably incredibly motivated as it was, much like I was, to come out there and be like, ‘you know what, the only thing left to do is shove it up their ass and show you what I can do.’”

WWE Confirms Brock Lesnar For RAW, Teases More Carnage

14

WWE has confirmed Brock Lesnar for this coming Monday’s edition of WWE RAW in Atlanta, Georgia, which will be the WWE Battleground “go-home” episode of the show.

WWE wrote the following teasers for Lesnar and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins:

“With his clash with Brock Lesnar at WWE Battleground looming on the horizon, Seth Rollins undoubtedly clutching his WWE World Heavyweight Championship a little tighter these days. After all, The Beast Incarnate not only demolished J&J Security’s Cadillac last Monday night, but put both Jamie Noble and Joey Mercury on the shelf during his rampage. Who will watch The Architect’s back this Monday night in Atlanta, when The Anomaly is in the building?

Ever since Seth Rollins robbed Brock Lesnar of the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in the main event of WrestleMania, Brock Lesnar has had it out for “The Future of WWE,” and at WWE Battleground, Rollins will have nowhere to hide. Yet, as much as this collision is about the WWE World Heavyweight Title itself — the grandest prize in sports-entertainment — it’s also a matter of retribution for The Anomaly, who wants nothing more than to make The Architect pay for his past transgressions. But what is Lesnar truly looking for: Rollins’ title or Rollins’ suffering? Might his desire to destroy Rollins somehow supersede his championship aspirations? If that’s the case, what would happen if Lesnar got his hands on the WWE World Heavyweight Champion before their title bout? Could we see Lesnar destroy his WWE Battleground opponent before their championship encounter even takes place? Last week, we saw Lesnar decimate J&J Security’s Cadillac and J&J themselves … and we get the feeling he’s not done breaking things just yet. Expect more carnage from The Beast Incarnate on Raw.”

Jeff Jarrett Describes The Identity He Envisions For Global Force Wrestling

7

Global Force Wrestling founder Jeff Jarrett was asked by John Coririgan to describe the identity he envisions for his new wrestling promotion.

“I believe there are a lot of styles available, whether they be lucha libre or strong style from Japan or all the different promotions throughout Europe,” Jarrett said. “We want to put all those different wrestling styles under one umbrella where the fans can win. What I mean by that is fans can see fresh matchups and different styles. That’s our main focus inside the ring.

“Then outside the ring, it goes without saying that not just in professional wrestling, but in any sports or entertainment brand, you have to be highly engaged with the audience. If you go to our YouTube channel, it shows that we’re not about writing stories—we’re about documenting stories.

“For example, the story that has come out of King of the Mountain with Eric Young, who believes in his heart of hearts, and hats off to the guy, but he believes he should have won the title. I think he’s in the minority and he had an issue with it. So as part of this agreement, Eric has taken it upon himself to be a part of the Grand Slam Tour. I gave him an open invitation so something’s gonna go down. Not sure what, but it is part of our brand identity.”
