Backstage Update On The Undertaker’s Retirement Plans

54

WWE Hall Of Famer Jim Ross, who is good friends with The Undertaker, noted on a recent blog that he feels next year’s WrestleMania will not be the final match for “The Dead Man.”

For years the belief has been that Undertaker would try his best to physically work through the first WrestleMania held at Cowboys Stadium and then retire at that show, particularly because it’s in his home state of Texas and in a record-setting building.

After Undertaker came back and had a strong showing against Brock Lesnar that was a very physical match, and now that he’s working the tour of Mexico in October, it looks like WWE might be extending how long “The Dead Man” will go.

The 2014 WrestleMania was what Vince McMahon thought could possibly be Undertaker’s final match, which is why he ultimately decided to pull the trigger on having Lesnar end his legendary undefeated streak.

The general talk behind-the-scenes within WWE right now is that The Undertaker is not thinking about retiring imminently.

Eric Bischoff On Stone Cold Podcast?, WWE Changes Plans On Nikki Bella, The Rock

– WWE originally planned for Nikki Bella to drop the WWE Divas Championship back in July, so the fact that her current angle is centered around the fact that she is approaching AJ Lee’s record as the longest reigning Divas Champion in history was a change in plans.

– Eric Bischoff, who recently shot footage for WWE for the new WWE Network pieces and DVDs on The Monday Night War, is under consideration to be a guest on a future “Stone Cold Podcast” with Steve Austin on the WWE Network.

Reason For WWE Stacking Deck For Mexican Tour, Undertaker’s Return & More

8

WWE is pulling out a lot more stops than usual for their upcoming tour of Mexico, which has shows on October 16th in Merida, October 17th at Arena Ciudad in Mexico City and October 19th at Arena Monterrey.

WWE is building the tour around the fact that The Undertaker is working all three events, billing it as Undertaker’s return to Mexico after five years.

Additionally, WWE Hall Of Famer Ric Flair will be working the shows as the guest General Manager, and part-time WWE performer Chris Jericho is scheduled as well.

The reason they are building the shows up so strong is partially due to concerns of insinuations of racism against Mexicans related to the departure of Alberto Del Rio, as well as no longer having Rey Mysterio on the roster.

WWE Possibly Changing Start-Times For Monthly Pay-Per-Views?

6

WWE recently sent out a survey to fans who signed up and attended recent WWE live events asking questions about the product and what they did and did not like about the WWE Network.

One interesting question asked on the survey was what time fans would prefer WWE pay-per-views to start, giving 1pm, 5pm, 7pm and 8pm as options. Obviously 1pm and 5pm would be rough, as that would be 10am and 2pm on the west coast, however the other options are interesting, depending on how the votes come in.

With the WWE Network and the lower cost, start times for pay-per-views are far less important and it’s also part of the reason why WWE is able to do occasional pay-per-views in Europe and other foreign markets.

– The following is the latest “Nia Jax is coming” vignette that WWE added to their YouTube channel late Wednesday evening.

WWE NXT Diva Nhooph Al-Areebi Deletes Her Twitter Account After Racist Tweets Surface

111

One week after Zahra Schreiber was released by WWE due to inappropriate and offensive remarks she made online years ago, another NXT talent is mired in a similar controversy.

On Tuesday night, racial remarks that 20-year-old NXT Diva Nhooph Al-Areebi posted on her Twitter account years ago surfaced on Reddit.com. In one of her tweets, dated February 11, 2012, she quoted a tweet reading “Ugh…fucking n*ggers…that’s why I chose white folk. Hmph” and wrote “word.”

TYOUkD3

That same night, Al-Areebi wrote “why are black people so horny” in response to a user who tweeted this remark to her: “mind if I lick between your Toes to get the salt glue off baby mmmmmmm jam.”

An additional tweet where she wrote “nigha lips” to a user was also revealed (dated September 22, 2011).

Al-Areebi had posted a photo on Instagram last year of herself and a black male wrestler where she referred to him as her slave.

“My slave Preston Myles needs to stop acting like I weigh 200 lbs!” she wrote in the summer of 2014. “Someone buy me a whip plz!”

In a separate Instagram post, which is still online, she wrote, “And @prestonmyles is so black you can’t see him.”

Shortly after the posts began circulating online, Al-Areebi deactivated her Twitter account and removed the first Instagram photo.

Al-Areebi, who is from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, was among the international class of 11 recruits to begun training at the WWE Performance Center in April. Prior to joining WWE, Al-Areebi wrestled under the name Jasmin Areebi for various independent promotions in Canada and the United States including Pure Wrestling Association (PWA), Absolute Intense Wrestling (AIW), and New England Championship Wrestling (NECW). She has yet to make her in-ring debut on the NXT television show, but has been competing in non-televised matches under the name Jasmin. On August 29, 2015 at a non-televised event in Fort Pierce, Florida, she competed in the main event. Alongside The Vaudevillains (Aiden English and Simon Gotch), the trio defeated Alexa Bliss, Blake and Murphy in Mixed Tag Team Match.

Another Former WWE Talent Accuses Bubba Ray Dudley Of Intentionally Hurting Him In The Ring

41

Earlier this week, former WWE Superstar Rene Dupree called out Bubba Ray Dudley for intentionally hurting him in the ring and contributing to his alleged 25 concussions while working for the company.

Former WWE Superstar Rico Constantino appeared on the Pancakes and Powerslams podcast this week and also claimed that Bubba Ray worked very stiff in the ring and intentionally hurt him.

“If you’re listening, Bubba, come here to Vegas and I’ll tell it to your frickin face. You are a spoiled brat. If you don’t get your way, you hurt people, and you do it on purpose.

He ripped my hamstring three times in Chicago. I told him I tore, and he kept going. He suplexed me, and tore it again. And when he pinned me, he threw my legs over my head, and put his legs on the second turnbuckle, and tore it again.

Yes, Devon is OK. Bubba, is a brat. You’re a spoiled, little baby. And I knew that when we went to Italy. Charlie and I had the tag team belts, and Bubba is there, Devon, we’re gonna wrestle in Italy. And out of respect, when they put the match up, I said, ‘OK. What would you like to do, Bubba?’ You know, cuz he’s been in the business longer than I have, so has Devon, and Charlie and I were giving them respect, ‘What would you like to do?’

Bubba popped off, ‘I’m tired of making the matches! You guys are the champions! Why don’t you make up the match!’ He was throwing a fit, in Italy! I said, what the hell? Like we win these titles; they give them to us! You want to win a title, go win Gladiators, you fat pig. That’s what I’m thinking. He [cried] and moaned. I looked at Dean Malenko and said, ‘Hey. Here.’ Threw him the belt and said, ‘Bubba wants the belt, give it to him. I’m not going out.’ ‘What’ [said Malenko]? I said, ‘I’m not going out. That’s it. Forget it. I don’t want the titles!’ And I left.

25-30 minutes later, Dean came up, that fat, little-spoiled brat apologized, and we went out and had a match. Yep, Bubba’s famous for that. I’ll tell it to his face, and I live isLas Vegas, Bubba. Come over here, and I will tell ya.”

Natalya Says It’s Difficult Not Being Part Of The Divas Revolution

26

With the Divas Revolution in full swing, many fans have been wondering why Natalya has not been included. During a recent appearance on the Sam Roberts Wrestling Podcast, she expressed her frustration with the situation:

“To be honest, I don’t know why I’m not included in this. I don’t have an answer. I really don’t. And your guess is as good as mine.”

She admits that watching the Divas Revolution from the sidelines has been difficult, but she has faith in WWE’s creative process and will wait to see how it plays out.

“There was a part of me where I was like, ‘I’m going to have a hard time watching all of the girls compete and not being a part of it’ and I feel like there is so much of me that is wanting to be a part of it.” Natalya said.

“I just have to trust in the powers that be. I have to trust in the universe. And right now is not my time and I’ll just help everybody celebrate their time and be supportive of them because one day it will be my time”.

Natalya also spoke about her match against Charlotte at NXT Takeover (May 2014), which she called her “WrestleMania moment.”

“I’ve grown up around wrestling my entire life and I never thought that a match in front of 400 people, a match at Full Sail University, in front of 400 people, would be one of the highlights of my career.”

She spent months training for the match, which she says “really embodied everything I wanted it to as far as my career and just telling a story.” She’s thankful that Triple H gave her the opportunity to do what she does best.

“Triple H, actually, gave me the opportunity to have the match and basically the freedom to create and to do everything that I wanted to do, everything that I did when I was in Japan.” Natalya added.

“Triple H gave me the freedom to create and invent and to have no limitations because, for a long time, I’m not afraid to say it, for a long time, Nattie was looked at in WWE by the powers that be [as] maybe too wrestlery.”

WWE raises more than $200,000 to benefit families of fallen NYC heroes

STAMFORD, Conn. – WWE has raised $213,000 with Answer The Call for the New York Police and Fire Widows’ and Children’s Benefit Fund.

As part of WWE’s community outreach initiatives during SummerSlam week in New York City, the company partnered with Charitybuzz.com for an online auction that featured 40 unique, once-in-a-lifetime experiences with WWE Superstars and Divas, as well other sports and entertainment celebrities.

GFW Getting Bad Publicity After Fan Writes Open Letter To Jeff Jarrett After Ticket Debacle

20

Global Force Wrestling is receiving some bad publicity this week as a blogger who purchased tickets to GFW live events in Texas found out that the shows were canceled with no real announcement, and getting a refund has been a hassle.

The following is the announcement GFW made on their website three days ago, quietly revealing the fact that the shows in Texas were being postponed:

Global Force Wrestling, the San Antonio Missions and the Round Rock Express have decided to postpone the GFW Grand Slam Tour events scheduled for later this month in Texas. Due to multiple conflicts in scheduling plus announcements that will be revealed over the next few weeks, GFW and the Texas clubs felt it was best to reschedule the events for the 2016 Grand Slam Tour. Ticket refunds can be obtained through the Missions’ and Express’ box offices.

“Global Force Wrestling has made a promise to our fans to present the highest quality wrestling action at all of our Grand Slam events,” GFW founder and CEO Jeff Jarrett said. “As a new brand in the entertainment marketplace, it is imperative not only to deliver but to exceed customer expectations. We are committed to our friends and fans in Texas, and we look forward to scheduling San Antonio and Round Rock on next year’s Grand Slam Tour.”

Here is part of the blog that “Skillcrane” wrote. It’s worth noting that after posting the open letter to Jeff Jarrett, a GFW representative contacted the man and the update he wrote afterwards is also available below.

Fast forward to August of 2015, when tickets for the Texas ballpark tour went on sale. Anyone (such as myself) who purchased tickets to any of these events did so as a leap of faith. With absolutely no information other than a time & a place, purchasing a ticket was doing so out of the part of themselves that wishes the best for the promotion & wants them to succeed. I was able to go online, select my tickets, & within a couple of minutes make my purchase. I felt good doing so, knowing that I was contributing to the growth of the new promotion & hopefully helping to inspire others who wanted to bring their promotions to my city in the future.

Fast forward to last night. I was watching the Scenic City Invitational & two of the announced GFW roster (Moose & Kongo Kong) were facing each other, so I decided to check the website to see if they finally got around to announcing the actual wrestlers who would be appearing at the event, hoping Kong & Moose were in that lineup.

Instead, what I saw was an announcement that the next shows were in October, with not even a mention of the Texas dates on the site. This was somewhat disconcerting considering I had purchased tickets for an event in September. I looked through the News link, the ticket link, etc, & saw no information at all on these dates, making me wonder if I had imagined the whole thing all along. A quick Google search (again, it is hard to accept that I have to Google information that is buried somewhere on the site) pointed me to an article that announced that the Texas dates have been canceled under mysterious reasons (“multiple scheduling conflicts & announcements that will be revealed over the next few weeks”), & that GFW was “committed to our friends and fans in Texas” & they look forward to seeing us next year instead. No email saying “hey, we realize you already threw down money for this show, so here is your refund” or anything like that. The fact is that I had to dig for information instead of having the company proactively come out & contact any of us who bothered to support them in the first place.

Now for the next source of contention, which is how the refunds are being handled. As I mentioned, the actual purchase of the tickets was done from the comfort of a computer terminal & required little to no effort, taking only a couple of minutes to complete. To get my money back, though, I am expected to drive 1 hour round trip (assuming there is absolutely no traffic) to the South side of town & go to the Missions ballpark box office. Keep in mind that the event itself was not even scheduled in this location, but rather a different ballpark located much more conveniently to my home. So the expectation from this promotion that I supported is I make a 1 hour+ round trip drive, plus gas, plus paying for parking to get into the parking lot of the box office itself. I will actually lose money because I made the mistake to support GFW. This is completely unacceptable in my mind in 2015.

Beyond the inconvenience & expense of getting the refund, it also leaves a very bad taste in my mouth that I tried to support an upstart promotion & was burned by them as a payback for that support. Of the 200 or so people who were going to show up the first time around, how many of them do you expect will return the second time after being burned, when we have the opportunity to see this glorious non-promotion again? My guess would be much less than the first go round. Now instead of fulfilling their obligations, they are spinning things like they are doing us all a favor by allowing us the opportunity to see them in 2016, but what they don’t realize is if you burn someone once they won’t get duped into trying to show support again.

Here is the update he posted:

EDITOR’S NOTE: After posting this, someone from GFW reached out & asked me to call the box office for the refund. As I was going on information posted by GFW themselves saying that I would have to seek refunds in person, I assumed this information was correct as it was in the press release. It turns out that unlike GFW, the San Antonio Missions organization has their shit together, as they have set up an auto refund for the event that should start being credited some time next week. This does help a bit, but my original feelings toward the promotion still stand.

Update On WWE Changing Bo Dallas’ Character

20

It looks like Bo Dallas could be in line for a slight character change in the near future, as WWE has been working on altering his gimmick lately.

After last Thursday’s SmackDown, Dallas debuted a new finishing move and attacked R-Truth after their match. He then cut a promo and spoke about how he has been trying to inspire people for so long, but it has turned him into a joke. He went on to reveal that he felt what he did to Truth by attacking him was “really funny,” and told fans he Bo-Lieves he will be a lot more “humorous” in the future.
