Brock Lesnar, The Authority, Seth Rollins & John Cena Kick Off RAW

The WWE Royal Rumble “go-home,” reunion special edition of WWE RAW opens with a Martin Luther King Jr. video package. This year’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day package is quite extensive, as is the open shot of RAW, which features a close-up shot of the announce team standing and applauding. From there, the regular RAW intro package plays.

15,519 fans are jam-packed in the sold out American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas, where Michael Cole informs us of some of the legends scheduled to appear on tonight’s RAW Reunion special. After that, the show officially kicks off as Brock Lesnar’s music hits. Out comes the WWE World Heavyweight Champion with Paul Heyman.

“Ladies and gentlemen, my name is …” is all Heyman can say before a pissed off Lesnar stops him, standing in front of him shaking his head. He takes the mic and says he’s here to fight. He tells Seth Rollins he’s got ten seconds to get his “weaselly” ass out here. The fans start counting to ten. Lesnar laughs and says that’s what he thought.

Finally, “King of Kings” hits and out comes Triple H. He comes down to the ring as highlights are shown of Rollins Curb Stomping Lesnar and John Cena last week. HHH tells Lesnar to calm down. He says he would’ve done the same thing if he had the opportunity. He says he seems to recall Lesnar suplexing Rollins first. He tells Lesnar they can all go to the back and he and Heyman can talk like businessman and put this behind us.

Heyman, off-mic, tells Lesnar he’s being reasonable, let’s do it. Lesnar tells HHH, “are you here to fix this — or fight?” Heyman tells Lesnar to calm down, reminding him that Triple H is “their meal ticket.”

Stephanie McMahon’s theme hits and out she comes with Kane and Big Show. She tells Lesnar to calm down. Heyman — still off-mic — yells to Lesnar, “Brock, they’re being reasonable. Come on!” Then, out of nowhere, Rollins appears on the big screen from backstage.

Rollins tells Lesnar he’s always two steps behind. He calls Lesnar a cave-man and tells him to be patient. He says he’ll get his shot at him, right before he takes his title at the Royal Rumble. Heyman says, “pardon me, this will be between the adults here.” Heyman warns The Authority to “put a leash on their puppy.” Heyman further warns The Authority about what Lesnar is about to do if things don’t get fixed now.

As Heyman continues to speak, John Cena’s theme hits and out he comes. He talks about how The Authority tried to recruit him a few weeks ago and how he turned them down. He talks about what The Authority does to him all the time. He tells them to “keep it up,” telling him that every single thing they do, lights a fire under him. He tells HHH and Steph that they make him sick. He talks about them firing Ryback, Erick Rowan and Dolph Ziggler. He says he’d do anything to get them hired back.

Cena throws one last insult at The Authority and tries to walk off, but Steph stops him and tells the production crew to turn off his music. She talks about what Cena “used to be,” and informs him that he’s not the same man today. She said he lied to everyone and he’s the reason The Authority is back. She reminds Cena that they’re here because of him. She tells him he’s soley responsible for getting Ryback, Rowan and Ziggler fired.

Once Steph is finished telling Cena how he’s not the man he used to be, Rollins chimes in from the big screen and tells Cena he’s a loser. He tells him that this Sunday at the Royal Rumble, he’s going to fail again. He says everyone knows Cena is a failure except for Cena himself. He says if there’s one thing he and Lesnar can agree on, it’s that Cena’s time is up. He tells Cena to remove himself from Sunday’s match. Cena mocks Rollins for mumbling his words and then threatens to kick his door down and beat him up. Cena says when he wins this Sunday, no one has to like him, but they will damn sure respect him. He tells The Authority they should sweaten the pot. He says if he wins this Sunday, they have to give Ryback, Rowan and Ziggler their jobs back.

Triple H asks the fans if that’s what they want. He says they seem to want it, but the problem is — they gave Cena an opportunity to get their jobs back already and he failed miserably. However, he says he’s inclined to give him the chance. He says if he wants it though, he’s got to put something on the line. Cena says name it. HHH says great and tells him tonight he has a match. He says if he wins, all three will get their jobs back, but if he loses, all three guys remain fired — and — he gives up his opportunity in the title match at the Royal Rumble this Sunday. He asks Cena if he wants the deal or not. Steph asks if Cena’s all talk.

Before he can answer, HHH tells him it’s not for him to answer. He says they’ll ask the fans via the WWE App if he should take the offer. He says it’ll tell them if the fans have given up on Cena. It’ll be a simple yes or no answer and we’ll find out once and for all what the WWE Universe truly thinks of John Cena. “King of Kings” hits again to end the segment. We head to our first commercial break of the evening.

Bray Wyatt vs. Daniel Bryan

When we return from the commercial, Bray Wyatt is in the middle of making his entrance. He blows out the latern, the lights come back on and Daniel Bryan’s music hits. The fans explode into a big “Yes!” chant as he skips down the aisle.

The bell sounds and here we go. Early on, Wyatt gives Bryan some trouble, but ultimately, Bryan fights back and hits a big splash off the top rope onto Wyatt on the floor. The action returns to the ring as out of nowhere, Kane’s music hits and out he comes. We head to commercial.

We’re back from the break and now Wyatt is in control of Bryan. We see a shot of Kane sitting and watching on from a seat at ringside. Wyatt knocks Bryan off the top rope and out to the floor.

Wyatt continues to beat Bryan down and then Bryan starts firing up on offense. Strangely enough, we head to a second mid-match commercial on that note.

When we return from the break, Bryan is trying to get things going again, and finally does, however once he does, Kane pops up out of his chair at ringside and yanks Bryan off the apron. He throws him back in the ring. Wyatt slams Bryan face-first into the bottom turnbuckle and then hits him with his Sister Abigail finisher. 1-2-3.

After the match, Kane stares down at Bryan in the ring as Wyatt leaves. Kane decides he’s not done yet, and beats Bryan down some more, likely continuing an eventual feud/match between the two. We head to another commercial.

Winner: Bray Wyatt

Backstage Update On Sheamus Returning To Action

51

Sheamus, who has not appeared for WWE since losing the United States Championship to Rusev in a live post-Raw bout on the WWE Network on Nov. 4, is scheduled to return either at tomorrow night’s SmackDown taping in Austin, Texas, or this Sunday at the Royal Rumble.

“The Celtic Warrior” is currently scheduled for the Royal Rumble Match, according to PWInsider.com, but may appear at tomorrow night’s taping.

The day after Sheamus lost the belt, WWE announced that he would be sidelined after suffering left cervical neurapraxia (stinger in arm), bone spurring, narrowing of the spinal canal (spinal stenosis) and narrowing of the nerve canals (neuroforaminal) along with nerve compression in his neck. Because of these injuries, Sheamus was pulled from Team Cena in the Traditional Elimination Tag Team match on Nov. 23 at “Survivor Series.” He was replaced by Erick Rowan.

The angle on Raw with Mark Henry putting Sheamus through the announce table was used as a means to write him off television. Although many perceived this injury to be part of a storyline, he was in fact hurt.

On Nov. 20, Sheamus indicated that he had undergone some sort of surgery and Tweeted out a photo of himself lying in a hospital bed getting prepped for an undisclosed operation.

Jim Ross Responds To “Ignorant” Josh Matthews For Saying He Should “Just Go Away”

71

On Sunday night, UFC aired a Fight Night special on Fox Sports 1 and “piggybacked” off the sports fans who were watching the NFL playoff games.

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross noted that UFC “won” the night while battling the NFL playoffs and called it an “excellent idea” for UFC to air their show as the second game between the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts was winding down.

TNA announcer Josh Matthews took exception to JR’s tweet, stating that, “If you are over 60, just go away.” JR responded to Matthews, who then doubled down on his jab towards JR.

Update: Another Possible Surprise Entrant Planned For 2015 WWE Royal Rumble Match

13

As noted earlier today, WWE has a working plan to have Bo Dallas make his return as a surprise entrant in the 2015 Royal Rumble match, which takes place this coming Sunday night at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

In addition to Dallas, there’s said to be a heavy push within WWE to have Diamond Dallas Page make a surprise appearance in the Rumble match as well. As things stand now, it’s considered a pretty good possibility that DDP will work the match.

Fans have been pushing for DDP to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame for years, not just for his work inside the ring but for helping Scott Hall and Jake Roberts turn their lives around. A Rumble appearance would certainly be a good way to get DDP back on the radar of fans ahead of a potential Hall of Fame induction.

Manik Responds To People Saying Working For TNA Is A Career Killer

33

Over the weekend, it was reported by Dave Meltzer that ROH and Lucha Underground star Alberto El Patron turned down an offer to work for TNA that would have made him $400,000 per year. Meltzer speculated that the AAA World Heavyweight Champion did not want to work for TNA because doing is is perceived as a ‘career killer.’

TNA star Manik has responded to that report, explaining how working for TNA has changed his life. He tweeted:

the rumor is wrestlers consider tna a career killer.

Dana Warrior Blogs About WWE’s Upcoming “Ultimate Warrior: Always Believe” Project

2

Dana Warrior, the widow of WWE Hall Of Famer Ultimate Warrior, recently posted the following blog on Facebook regarding WWE’s upcoming “Ultimate Warrior: Always Believe” DVD and Blu-ray, which is scheduled for an April 14th release.

WARRIORS BELIEVE IN RECORDING GREATNESS….

Warriors I am so happy to tell you I’ve seen the first cut of WWE’s home video production of Ultimate Warrior: ALWAYS BELIEVE, released April 14, 2015. It is a spectacular celebration of his life in and out of the ring. It is real and it is raw. It is heartbreaking but it is beautiful because that is life…and life has edges.

This was not an easy project to see through but one I knew I must. Not just for my husband but for all of YOU! The legion of Warriors who have adopted my husband’s creed and lived it as intensely as he did! You will see the story of his rise in the WWE told through the voices of the incredible roster of talent and WWE executives. You will see sustaining friendships and new ones. You will see truth. You will meet my girls and see what incredible young ladies they have grown into over these ten months since our loss. The edges of life have been particularly sharp to them at such a young age but they’ve been so graceful in the way they have carried on and conducted themselves daily as he would have required: the ultimate warrior girls through and through. I will share the man I knew and loved with you…the one behind the mask who was my husband, best friend, and father to our daughters. I am honest about the struggles and the pain but just as truthful about the joy we shared and the laughs we had because it is all woven into the fabric of our true story. This is indeed a celebration and a culmination of who he was in and out of the ring.

What I have come to realize about the edges I’ve faced is they have cut me out of my comfort zone and pushed me into an arena I never anticipated. What I always loved most was being a wife and mother and suddenly I had to carry the massive mantle of one I supported with absolute love and devotion. Maybe this edge brought me to my best self as I believe it does all of us…it is in the heat of trial and battle we reach deeply within to discover our OWN Ultimate Warriors. My husband did this in his life as you will clearly see on this dvd and by his example we must do it in ours! I was so lucky, like he was, to have all of YOU lift us up and carry on. This project was my thank you. THANK YOU WARRIORS!!!!

I believe in doing what is hard… I believe in the truth… I believe we are all required to turn the sharpest edges of our lives into our greatest sharpening tools…Always!

xo Dana

Special thanks to Steve Wilton who without his part none of this would be possible.

Thank you Victor Lorenzo for your love of this project and Matt Rogers for your care.

Thank you Michelle Greigo for her hair and make up magic and inappropriate HR department.

Chris Jericho Recalls Waiting For Mike Tyson To Punch Him

4

Part-time WWE performer Chris Jericho recently spoke to the Las Vegas Review-Journal about working with boxing legend Mike Tyson in WWE in the past.

Jericho described to the publication what it’s like waiting for Tyson to hit him with a worked punch, trusting that he would not take his head off.

“The moment before he swung at me, I told him, ‘Just wait until I put my hands up in the air, and swing,'” said Jericho.

Jericho continued, “He barely grazed me, but I felt a wind go by my face. That’s how fast he swung. It was like a ‘Swoosh!’ Who swings that hard and leaves a vapor trail. Nothing could ever scare me ever again, after standing face-to-face with Mike Tyson, knowing he’s going to swing at me, and giving him 100 percent trust he’s not going to knock me out and kill me.”

Beth Phoenix Interview: If She’ll Ever Wrestle Again, Equal Pay For Divas?

9

Here are some highlights from former WWE Diva Beth Phoenix’s recent interview with The Star Gazette:

Wrestling Men In WWE:

“I was very blessed. I could wrestle men or women. I was the powerhouse among the girls, so I could blend in and mix it up with the guys. I had no preference as long as there was a good story to tell, female or male, and that the crowd was entertained.”

If The Women In WWE Make As Much As The Men:

“I don’t discuss money, but I will say I made more money than at other things I could qualify for. The key for me is the respect of your peers. I was able to be influential and create a mold. There was no one else who was shaped like me or looked like me. I don’t compare myself to the men.”

Not Getting Along With Everybody Backstage:

“You don’t get along with everybody, but you have to be able to work with everybody. Respect is important, and if you don’t have it you won’t be on the professional level very long. The ring is not the place to take care of disrespect. It’s supposed to be a safe haven where we protect each other. You can disagree with someone and still do business as a professional. I’ve had some differences of opinion with some, and there were some people I liked more than others.”

Injuries She Suffered During Her Career:

“You do your best to minimize injuries. I’ve seen a ring rope snap, when there’s been something wrong with the ring, like when a tear in the canvas would result in a bad fall. I worked in an outdoor arena where it was pouring rain, and we were slipping all over the place. You can’t control all that happens. I broke my jaw, still have two titanium plates and nine screws in there. I’ve had ACL surgery, a concussion, black eyes, a herniated disk, sprained ankles and muscles. I broke my hand once. The WWE has strict policies on injuries. The injuries were terrible, but we signed on for them.”

If She’ll Ever Return to The Ring:

“Never say never. I’m very happy what I’m doing. But I’m still in fighting shape.”

Bret Hart Says Daniel Bryan Reminds Him Of Owen & Talks About His Relationship With Vince

14

WWE Hall of Famer Bret Hart was interviewed for January’s issue of Total Wrestling Magazine, which you can read for free online at Issuu.com.

The 5-time WWE Champion spoke about his classic match with Davey Boy Smith at SummerSlam 1992, the legendary Hart family dungeon and his brother Owen. Here’s what he makes of the current WWE product and who his favorite superstars are:

“CM Punk, is an exceptional talent who’s really raised the bar in the last few years. I don’t know how many wrestlers in the past few years that I can say that about. In wrestling theres a lot of repeat, not a lot of innovation but Punk raised the bar and Daniel Bryan is a great talent too. He reminds me of Owen, a quiet kid who’s very talented. I love the way he wrestles, he does a lot that Owen did, like the dropkicks off the top, the nip-ups, there’s a lot of little Owen traits in everything Bryan does.”

He also spoke about patching up his relationship with Vince McMahon several years ago.

“He was one of the first people to call me and ask how I was after my stroke, and we cleared a lot of the air, I’m really grateful for that call. I eventually got to beat him at WrestleMania 26 which I think is a better ending for us. I would say he’s on the very best of terms with me now.”
