Tables Match With Huge Stipulation Announced For WWE TLC PPV

16

A main event was announced for the upcoming WWE TLC pay-per-view on tonight’s “Cyber Monday” edition of RAW in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

In a “Tables Match” announced for the show, number one contender to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship John Cena will take on Seth Rollins, with his number one contendership at stake.

It wasn’t outright said that Rollins would become the new number one contender if he wins the match, just that Cena wouldn’t be the number one contender if he lost.

    WWE RAW Opener:

This week’s “Cyber Monday” edition of WWE RAW, which emanates from the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma, opens up with a video package of last week’s happenings, primarily focusing on the end of The Authority’s reign as the power figures of WWE.

From there, we shoot live into the BOK Center where the “Anonymous RAW GM” “ding-a-ling, ding-a-ling” rings throughout the building. Michael Cole, “and he quotes,” begins reading the “anonymous” statement.

As Michael Cole tries to begin reading “the following announcements,” he is cut off by the theme music of John Cena.

“What a paramount night we have tonight on Monday Night RAW, huh?!” opens Cena. He then references the “Anonymous RAW General Manager.” He says he loves absolutely nothing about the RAW Anonymous GM. He says the Anonymous RAW GM and Brock Lesnar have one thing in common — they both show up once a year.

Cena goes on to brag about how The Authority is gone and is never coming back. As Cena continues to talk, the “ding-a-ling, ding-a-ling” noise hits again for the RAW Anonymous GM. Cole tells Cena he’s just the spokesperson, as he backs away. The noise continues as Cena approaches the podium and the laptop. He slowly closes it and does the “cut-throat” sign.

Before he can do anything else, however, “Mr. Money In The Bank’s” music hits, and out comes Seth Rollins, Joey Mercury and Jamie Noble.

Rollins hands his briefcase off to his security team and then asks eveyrone in Tulsa to give Cena a big hand. He tells Cena he has “bad jokes for days.” Cena says he has a lot of them. Rollins says he waives his hand in front of his face like he just discovered them. Cena says he does that right before he beats him. Rollins says he’ll get to that in a minute.

“Mr. Money In The Bank” continues, informing Cena that he sucks on a nightly basis. Rollins says he’s particularly good at taking credit for things he doesn’t do. He talks about how he eliminated Cena at Survivor Series. He says he would have been the sole survivor and The Authority would still be in power if it wasn’t for one man — Sting.

Cena says it was exciting to see Sting, but he forgets the fact that “Team Cena” had one man left. He says they had one man left who took out all three of “Team Authority” members that were left — Dolph Ziggler.

Rollins shrugs off Cena’s comments and says he’s really out to ask this — after a week, can he honestly ask himself, is WWE really better off without The Authority in power? The fans in Tulsa respond with a loud, thunderous “Yes! Yes! Yes!” chant.

Rollins jokes about JBL taking over as GM. He then takes a dig at Batista’s wrestling and acting, saying maybe he could try his hand at GM. He says we can go to the “Way Back Machine” and let Eric Bischoff run things. Cena cuts Rollins off and asks him what his point is.

Rollins says his point is that Cena comes out every week and says what’s best for WWE is what the fans say is best. Rollins says what’s best for WWE is the same thing that’s best for business. He says Cena is the only person who has the power to restore order and bring back The Authority. He tells Cena he has to do it.

Cena tells Rollins he sounds awful bossy. He tells Rollins that The Authority is gone and they aren’t coming back. Cena says Rollins is a normal dude — who wears way too much latax — that always has two “mall cops” with him. He says he does have the power to bring The Authority back. Cena tells Rollins to ask him. Rollins says he did. Cena says to ask him nicely.

This prompts the fans in Tulsa to break out in “let’s go Cena, Cena sucks!” chants as Rollins ponders his next move. Rollins says “will you please bring back The Authority.” Cena says that wasn’t nice enough and tells Rollins to get down on one knee. The Anonymous RAW GM “ding-a-ling” rings again but Cena ignores it. Unfortunately, he can’t ignore it for too long, as Michael Cole chimes in and informs us that Cena and Rollins will compete one-on-one in a “Tables Match” at the TLC pay-per-view.

Cole goes on to inform Cena that if he loses at the TLC PPV, he will no longer be the number one contender to the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Cole says “a new number one …” but before he can continue, Rollins blasts Cena with the microphone from behind. Cena fights off Rollins, Mercury and Noble, but Kane comes out and blasts Cena with a chokeslam.

This leads to Rollins bringing a table out from under the ring. “Feed Me More” hits and out comes Ryback. Ryback fights off Kane, Mercury and Noble, and then hits Rollins with a big press-slam. When he turns around, however, Kane has a steel chair and begins wailing away at him with it over, and over, and over again.

As Kane continues bashing Ryback with a chair, out comes Erick Rowan. He hits Kane in the aisle with a big boot and enters the ring. He throws Mercury and Noble out of the ring and then manhandles Rollins into the corner.

Out of nowhere, with no music or fanfare, The Big Show comes out and splashes Rowan from behind. The “You Sold Out” chants ring throughout the BOK Center as Show continues his onslaught on the former Wyatt Family member. He blasts Rowan with the top-half of the ring steps outside of the ring.

And then, out of nowhere, “I’m here to show the world!” hits and Dolph Ziggler sprints to ringside, knocking Big Show down in the process. He grabs a ladder from under the ring, only to turn around and get taken out by Luke Harper, who also appears out of nowhere with no music.

Meanwhile, back in the ring, Noble and Mercury and holding Cena as Rollins sets up a table. Cena fights his way free but then Harper grabs him. Cena fights free from Harper, but then turns around right into a knockout punch from Big Show. This leads to Noble and Mercury picking Cena up and handing him off to Rollins, who “triple power bombs” him through the table in the ring, old-school Shield style.

The fans boo as Rollins, Kane, Harper, Noble and Mercury stand tall over a beaten down Cena in the center of the ring. On that note, we head to our first commercial break of the evening.

Ezekiel Jackson Talks Working For Lucha Underground, Brian Kendrick, William Regal

    4

The following are highlights of a new interview with Big Ryck, aka Ezekiel Jackson:

On growing up a Wrestling fan: “The long version of the story is, at eight years old I saw wrestling for the first time and a neighbor of ours used to allow us to watch television through their windows and one day, I saw wrestling for the first time. It was 1986 or 1987 and I was eight years old. It was “Iceman” King Parsons and I was smitten, so I’ve been a fan of wrestling forever.”

On his debut and working with Brian Kendrick: “The thing about Brian Kendrick is that he’s not going to try to hold his tongue, he’s not going to baby you, he’s not going to try to please you just to please you. If it is wrong, he will tell you it is wrong, but it if it is right, he will tell you it is right. He’s not going to walk on eggshells around anybody, he’s a straight shooter, he lets you know straight up if he doesn’t like you, he doesn’t like you. Kendrick chose me for that role, he came, sat, met up with me when I was in Florida Championship Wrestling, told me his plans and asked if I was interested. The dude came to Florida and asked if I was willing to come into that role, that earned my respect on a whole new level for him. I think we had for whatever reason, we didn’t hit it the way I thought we could have, whether it be writing, creative, myself, himself, I don’t know.”

On his time working with William Regal and Vladimir Kozlov as The Ruthless Roundtable: “With Regal combined, the three of us, I felt it was, we did the whole he won one, one-upsmanship. He would hit me with his finisher, then we did the thing at SummerSlam, myself and Christian, where I turned on Christian. You had Christian as Champion, you had Dreamer, you had Goldust, you had, you know Regal working with us, Hurricane, I thought, let’s see what happens again, put two big guys together and we worked well. I had a chance to learn more in the wrestling aspect of it, it was fun for while it lasted. I thought again that The Ruthless Roundtable thing, I thought it could’ve been phenomenal had it gotten a chance on Raw or SmackDown.”

Steve Austin Rolling Stone Interview: Sting’s Debut, What He’d Change About WWE

    3

Rolling Stone has published a new interview with WWE Hall of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin to hype his exclusive interview with WWE Chairman Vince McMahon tonight after RAW live on the WWE Network.

Here are some highlights of what he said about:

Sting’s WWE Debut at Survivor Series:

“The face-to-face with him and Triple H, they just let it build and build. Triple H tried to sell the big right hand, block, there’s the kick and the damage is done, then he hits his finish. I loved it. I’m a fan of good stuff inside the squared circle and it was a good story. The Authority had really built how they needed to win that night in a really long-winded promo by Stephanie McMahon and Triple H. They were setting the table for Sting. All of the guys in that match worked their asses off, and I really enjoyed the work between Seth Rollins and Dolph Ziggler as they went into the finish.”

What He’d Like To See Incorporated Into The WWE Product:

“People go into that arena and they know the fix is in. They know what pro wrestling or sports entertainment is. That being said, they want it executed to the highest level so that they can suspend their disbelief and buy in, and so in a world of make believe you make people believe in you. It’s as real as it can be. It’s not about trying to relive the Attitude Era, it’s not about putting up middle fingers or using four-letter words, it’s about creating a character that people can buy into and believe. Someone they either love or hate, but they’re emotionally invested in. That’s what I would like to see. ”

Working On His Own Private Label Beer Brand:

“I can’t really announce anything yet but we’re working on the paperwork right now. I’m also working on another lifestyle-orientated thing that I’m excited about too, but since you brought the beer up, I’m anticipating getting everything finalized so I can get in the tasting room, come up with the formula and create the beer. It’s almost a done deal.”

There’s much more to the interview, including Steve Austin’s thoughts on NXT, which (if any) current WWE Superstars remind him of the “Stone Cold” character and if he thinks Hulk Hogan is serious about wanting to wrestle again. Check it out at RollingStone.com.

CM Punk Launches T-Shirt Store, Backstage News On WWE’s Reaction To His Interview

    45

Former WWE Superstar CM Punk has launched his own official online t-shirt store at ProWrestlingTees.com. Below is a photo of some of the initial designs for Punk’s t-shirts that are available.

Speaking of Punk, it’s said that there are many within WWE who are curious to see how the company decides to handle responding to his recent interview on Colt Cabana’s “Art of Wrestling” podcast.

As noted earlier today, WWE Hall Of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin mentioned in a new WWE.com interview that he plans on asking Vince McMahon about the Punk situation during their live sit-down interview on the WWE Network tonight immediately following RAW.

  • Steve Austin Hypes His Interview With Vince McMahon, Talks NXT & More

    5

The following are highlights of a new Rolling Stone interview with WWE Hall Of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin:

Whose idea was it to do a live WWE Network interview with Vince McMahon? “Back in the day I’d reached out to him just in passing about being on the show. A couple of months ago [WWE] came to L.A. for SummerSlam and we were trying to put it together then, but he didn’t have the time to fit me in. Then they were going to fly me to Stamford but I didn’t want to go all that way to do a podcast [laughs]. So we’ve wanted to do this thing for a while. I guess timing is everything and so someone from WWE reached out to me and said, “Hey, what do you think about doing your podcast live on the WWE Network?” and I said, “Man, that would be awesome.” It’s a win-win for both parties.

Any time you go live with Vince McMahon it’s going to be a very interesting experience. To me this is a conversation between us about the wrestling business and the direction the WWE’s headed in. There’s a few key talent I’d like to ask specific questions about. In doing my research, I’ve started watching some of the old videos of the work we did as far as angles go and the chemistry we had in the ring, so I’m not there to be Howard Stern. My podcast is a conversation, it’s basically a bulls–t session: two guys shooting the breeze talking about the business. At the end of the day, Vince McMahon is in the entertainment business, as am I, so I want it to be entertaining and engaging. I’m looking forward to it.”

What are your thoughts on NXT? I think that show harkens back to wrestling’s past in terms of style and presentation. “You hit the nail right on the head. I haven’t watched a whole lot of it but what I have seen I liked. I like the lighting, I like the action and it just feels different. I understand what WWE’s trying to do with Monday Night Raw, they want it to look like it’s the slickest production in the world, but sometimes it’s too slick. When everyone’s got a scripted promo, it doesn’t breed the same spontaneity that the Attitude Era had. You had a lot of guys out there grabbing a microphone where they might have a bullet point or two, but their words – you can’t write that stuff.”

Update On Sting Wrestling Undertaker & Triple H

    41

Ever since rumors of Sting possibly signing with WWE first began circulating, the talk has been that he would eventually work a match with The Undertaker at WrestleMania.

Once Sting officially debuted at Survivor Series, however, the focus seemed to be on a potential Sting vs. Triple H match.

Photo: Sting Featured On Survivor Series DVD Box Art

Current rumors suggest Sting may end up wrestling more than one match for WWE, however as things stand now, the company clearly seems to be building towards a Sting vs. Triple H match.

RF Video’s Rob Feinstein, who has broken news stories in the past — some of which related to the Sting and WWE rumors — posted the following online hours before Sting debuted at Survivor Series:

“From what I been hearing I think Undertaker is done and the plans are for Sting and HHH at Mania…but anything can change but that is what I have been told”

Video: Chris Jericho Responds To CM Punk

    21

Last week during his now infamous podcast interview with Colt Cabana, CM Punk implied that Chris Jericho was one of the people who had reached out to him attempting to get him to break his silence on Jericho’s podcast. Jericho has since reacted to Punk’s comments with this video.

Jericho says that he’s always considered Punk a friend, one of his closest friends in the business over the past few years. Jericho denies that he tried getting Punk on his podcast after he walked out of WWE, revealing that he did try to get Punk on the show last December, but Punk turned him down at the time because he was burned out and didn’t have anything to say about the wrestling business at the time.

Jim Ross Blog: CM Punk’s Pipebomb Podcast, Austin Interviewing Vince

    0

WWE Hall of Famer Jim Ross has posted a lengthy blog update at JRsBarBQ.com with his thoughts on CM Punk’s now infamous podcast interview with Colt Cabana, Steve Austin interviewing Vince McMahon after RAW live on the WWE Network and more. It’s worth noting that Ross says he has not yet listened to the Punk podcast, but is reacting to what he’s heard about it.

Here are some highlights of what he said about:

CM Punk’s Podcast Interview With Colt Cabana:

“Often times it is better for the talent to be given a leave of absence to allow feelings to become less emotional and bodies to heal. However, as always evaluating an issue of this magnitude in hindsight is generally 20/20. I don’t know how all the internal conversations went between Punk and WWE. We’ve heard only one side of the story thus far …”

“Its also very important for any company to pay  close attention to all talents and it’s also a fact that all talents can’t be treated the same because all people are different. The wrestling business breeds paranoia and a variety of insecurities much like Hollywood actors and many athletes because the nature of their genres generally have shorter shelf lives as it relates to one’s career. In other words, managing a talent roster in any pro wrestling company is and always has been a 24/7 proposition.  I can tell you that it was the most emotionally draining, exhausting and stressful job that I ever had. It affected my health but I was blessed that it did not adversely affect my marriage. I’m a lucky man in that department.”

Steve Austin Interviewing Vince McMahon After RAW:

“Mr. McMahon and the Rattlesnake had magical chemistry and a competitive rivalry that went well beyond the bell to bell action. Steve’s proud of his podcast that can be found with my Ross Report on Podcast One and I don’t think he would leave his Texas ranch to fly to Tulsa, Oklahoma to lob softballs to the Chairman of WWE. I fully expect Steve to address the Punk situation with McMahon. Vince rarely dodges any major issue in this sort of forum and Austin has become a great interviewer so I have extremely high expectations for this piece of business. I know that I will be watching and that’s after sitting through another three hour RAW.

Seeing Austin and McMahon doing business together Monday night will be nostalgic and, at one time years ago, would have seemed unlikely but the two of them finally communicated, addressed each other’s issues and then made more history in WWE that may never be rivaled.”

There is much more to the blog, including Jim Ross’ thoughts on how WWE manages the talent roster and the upcoming NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 9 pay-per-view.

Update On Uhaa Nation Possibly Signing With WWE

    24

There were some reports going around this weekend that California-based independent wrestler Uhaa Nation has signed a developmental deal with WWE.

Nation was one of the top standouts at a tryout camp held at the WWE Performance Center in September. Nation impressed company officials so much that WWE trainers flew to Reseda, California to watch his match at a Pro Wrestling Guerrilla (PWG) live event the following month.

Nation, who has been wrestling since 2009, is said to be “a very high priority for WWE.” Billed at 6-0 and 240 pounds, Nation is known both as a high-flyer and a power wrestler.

At this weekend’s Preston City Wrestling event from the UK, there was a lot of buzz that Nation has signed with WWE and will be heading to the Performance Center in Orlando soon. Nation defeated former WWE Superstar Chris Masters on the card to win the PCW Championship.

Steve Austin Says He’ll Ask McMahon About CM Punk, Talks In-Ring Return Rumors & More

    25

With “Stone Cold” Steve Austin interviewing WWE Chairman Vince McMahon for his “Steve Austin Show” live on the WWE Network immediately following tonight’s “Cyber Monday” edition of RAW, the official WWE website caught up with the WWE Hall Of Famer to ask him a few questions regarding tonight’s big podcast.

Jim Ross Blog: CM Punk’s Pipebomb Podcast, Austin Interviewing Vince

Below are highlights of the WWE.com interview.

WWE.COM: Now that you’re entering people’s eardrums with your podcast every week, chatter about your in-ring return has reached a fever pitch. Is there any part of you that wishes the rumors would die down?

AUSTIN: That’s all just chatter, because you never hear me on the podcast selling myself in a match. Hulk Hogan’s trying to stir a matchup, calling me a coward. A lot of what I say breaks over into the mainstream, but I don’t ever want to sell a match that I cannot deliver, because I wouldn’t be living up to my word.

WWE.COM: Point blank, is there any chance we’ll see the black trunks and black boots anytime in the near or distant future?

AUSTIN: As we speak right now, no.

WWE.COM: What is the one thing you want Mr. McMahon to have to answer on your live podcast on WWE Network?

AUSTIN: Nothing is off limits. There’s a line that I won’t cross, but that’s for my standards — nothing that WWE has told me. There are many things I’d like to ask him. I’d like to know what’s going on with CM Punk. I’d like to know how Daniel Bryan’s health is. I’d like to know whose idea it was in Atlanta [that made me] take my ball and go home in 2002. I reacted the worst way possible, but I want to know who came up with that masterpiece of an idea. Guys like me come along very seldom in the wrestling business. You can count ’em on a couple of fingers.

WWE RAW emanates from the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma tonight with a special “Cyber Monday” themed edition of the show.

One of the big teases for tonight’s show is who the “Anonymous RAW General Manager” is.

WWE’s official website is currently running a playlist of “Anonymous RAW GM” videos, but makes no mention to the fact that Hornswoggle was eventually revealed to be said-GM.

Additionally, WWE is teasing on their website that we may “finally learn the identity of this shady GM” on tonight’s Cyber Monday RAW.

There is no dark match main event announced for this week.

WWE Teasing The Anonymous RAW GM Could Be Revealed Tonight

    79

WWE.com has updated their preview for tomorrow’s “Cyber Monday” RAW, asking, “Who is the Anonymous RAW General Manager?”

As seen at the conclusion of last week’s show, the Anonymous RAW GM returned after a 2-year hiatus. Although Hornswoggle was revealed to be the GM on July 9th, 2012, the WWE website makes no mention of this odd storyline development. WWE.com even added a video playlist of the Anonymous RAW GM’s “greatest moments” – nothing about Hornswoggle.

WWE.com teases that we may “finally learn the identity of this shady GM” tomorrow night.

NJPW Announces “New Japan World” Service, Their Version Of The WWE Network

    13

New Japan Pro Wrestling held a live press conference this morning, announcing the unveiling of their own streaming service, “New Japan World,” which is basically their version of the WWE Network.

The cost of the service, which is available worldwide, is 999 yen per month, which comes out to around $8.40 per month in the United States, $9.60 in Canada and 5.38 in pounds.

Their network will carry all of their major shows, including the four or five big monthly shows that used to air on pay-per-view, the G-1 Tag League finals next weekend, and the big Tokyo Dome event, which in a sense undercuts Global Force Wrestling, who are offering the show via pay-per-view in America at a much higher rate (although on the NJPW Network service, it will only be in Japanese, not the Jim Ross commentary).

By comparison, last year’s event, which took place prior to the launch of the WWE Network, did 228,000 buys and featured then-WWE World Heavyweight Champion Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan with Shawn Michaels as the special referee.

While the WWE Network continues to take a huge chunk out of the domestic PPV buyrates, Hell in a Cell’s 77,000 buys was actually up compared to September’s Night of Champions show, which did 48,000 buys on pay-per-view.
