Former WWE Diva Says Her Storyline Was Stolen

14

The following are highlights of a new H2H Radio interview with former WWE Diva Maxine:

On having her gimmick taken by Aksana: “I got myself over with the fans and at the end of the day, there’s a lot of politics going on backstage. Aksana was found by somebody important backstage, so that became their girl. That push, it just happened so randomly that one day (laughs), one day I pitched a storyline that I spent time writing—very long time—and I had my jet black hair with bangs, the black catsuit on, which people kinda remember from the FCW days when they see pictures and I was the General Manager of FCW, so it only made sense. I wrote and pitched the storyline of going up to Smackdown and seducing Teddy Long and eventually trying to take over Smackdown.

“When I pitched that storyline to the writers and the boss man, I had to cut a promo, I had to have a match and pitch the storyline. Within twenty-four hours, the very next day, I walk into FCW and I’m sat down and I’m told that I have to change my hair and my entire look. And I ask why, and they said it was too similar to Aksana. Well, you gotta remember, the day before that, she was bleached blonde, playing the Aksana, kinda ditzy, hosting “The Aksana Show.” So within twenty-four hours, she had jet black hair, was wearing a black catsuit and that following week was getting sent up to SmackDown to seduce Teddy Long. So call it what you must, but it was definitely very, very, very extremely similar (laughs) to what I wrote and what I pitched. And then after that, I was asked to actually help her with her promos, so it was a pretty good shot and slap in my face.

“I got back up. I changed my hair, I changed my outfit, which I ended up wearing; the black full-piece garter outfit, which ended up being my main one and I changed everything and I did what I had to do to make myself different once again. This happened on more then one occasion where my stuff and the stuff I’ve written and pitched—and I’m not the only one in the business that happened to, but that was pretty blunt and obvious (laughs). To the point that when I walked into the arena of FCW, the boys kinda went silent and were just staring at me because they knew.”

  • WWE SmackDown Moving To Thursdays In January

    35

WWE SmackDown is officially moving to Thursday nights at 8pm ET on Syfy starting January 15th, 2015.

The news was announced on the WWE website on Thursday morning.

“WWE’s sizable and passionate fan base make SmackDown the No. 1 entertainment show on Syfy and the most-watched, regularly scheduled program among key demographics on the network,” said Michelle Wilson, WWE Chief Revenue and Marketing Officer. “We look forward to bringing the WWE audience to Thursday nights on Syfy.”

“Quite simply, more young men watch television on Thursday night than on Fridays,” said Michael Engleman, Executive Vice President, Marketing, Digital and Global Brand Strategy, Syfy. “Among Men 18-49, PUTS [persons using television] are 15 percent higher compared to Fridays, expanding the potential audience for SmackDown. Since the majority of broadcast programming skews female, we’re also using Thursday nights to counter-program.”

WWE just celebrated 15 years of SmackDown last month.

WWE Chief Revenue & Marketing Officer Michelle told Variety.com that as a result of SmackDown moving to Thursdays, NXT (and its live specials) will move to Wednesday at 8pm EST in January as well.

The Sky Sports customer service rep stated:

“Yes, we will launch it as a channel with Sky TV. Currently we don’t have any details but it will be going to be soon… And you will will be notified by adv, email or call.”

When asked directly if the WWE Network will be a  satellite channel and not available online as it is in the United States, the Sky Sports rep said, “Yes, that is correct.”

WWE has yet to comment on the situation.

  • Dean Ambrose Profiled By Rolling Stone, Says He Finds It Strange Being A Babyface

    13

Dean Ambrose, who will face Seth Rollins this Sunday at Hell in a Cell, still finds being a babyface to be “a bit strange” after splitting from The Shield in June.

“I never pictured myself being liked by anybody. I’ve always fed off negativity and wanting people to hate me. That attitude really fueled me for my entire career. So being a guy that people like and want to cheer for is the weird part,” Ambrose told Rolling Stone for an article profiling his persona.

As a babyface, Ambrose must also face the challenge of maintaining his performance edge “without succumbing to clichés.”

“I think we’ve trained the audience that it’s, ‘Good guy does down, good guy starts shaking, crowd starts clapping, good guy claps his hands three times, hits his move, finish,'” Ambrose laments. “Everybody’s got a formula for their comeback. And no offense to anybody, but John Cena has his comeback, Kofi Kingston has his comeback. I’ve got a little formula too, but I keep it much shorter. I’m like, ‘Why does everything have to be so locked into a box?'”

Name-dropping Dusty Rhodes, Terry Funk and Bruiser Brody, Ambrose hopes to fashion himself in their image as “just a wild man,” saying, “I have that anti-romantic image in my head. I was kind of living in my own little mini-version of that.”

He continues, “Who knows how long that will last? All the people who love me right now are probably gonna hate me next month.”

Elsewhere in the article, it is revealed that Ambrose has a girlfriend and he currently resides in Las Vegas, Nevada. Her name, however, is not mentioned, only that she resides in New York City and he was spending time there in a rare window of time off.

Seth Rollins Talks Wanting To Headline Hell In A Cell, Whether CM Punk Will Return To WWE, Heyman

    12

Ahead of his match against Dean Ambrose at Hell in a Cell this Sunday, Seth Rollins spoke to Digital Spy.

Since the former Shield teammates are ‘co-main eventing’ the show with John Cena and Randy Orton, Rollins was asked whether he cares which match is going to be on last.

“Yeah, it is. I’d be lying to you if I didn’t say that it was. We won’t know the answer to that question till Sunday comes. Of course it’s important. I want to go on last every single night, regardless of the match, regardless of the show,” Rollins said.

“But you throw in the added element that we’re going up against a Cena-Orton match, which has been headlining pay-per-views for the last decade, that’s something huge. That’s a big thing to be able to go on after that match and exceed all the expectations.

“That’s important. I want that challenge, I want that responsibility and I wanna go on last and I wanna be known as the guy who goes on last every single night. That’s important to me.”

After nearly cashing in the Money in the Bank briefcase on Brock Lesnar at Night of Champions, Rollins had an interesting chat with Paul Heyman afterwards. Rollins was asked whether it’s possible he will be a “Paul Heyman Guy.”

“You never know. Paul’s a very intelligent guy, a good guy to have on your side, clearly. He’s representing, advocating for the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion and I’d never rule it out,” said Rollins. “I’d be lying if I’d tell you right now that I’ve never taken a piece of advice from Paul Heyman, ‘cos I surely have. And there’ll probably be more pieces of advice in the future that I’ll take from him. Paul’s a guy who’s always helped me out, always been on my side.”

Another “Paul Heyman Guy” was CM Punk. Rollins was asked whether he will ever be back, possibly before WrestleMania 31.

“Before WrestleMania 31 highly, highly unlikely. Down the road? Part of me was 100% sure he’d be back at some point but the longer he’s away, the more it makes me wonder that maybe he’s gone. He spent a good portion of his life dedicated to this business, it’s good for him to maybe get away,” Rollins said.

“He’s done all there really is to do. So I hope that he’s happy and I hope that he’s doing well for himself and enjoying his life away from wrestling. You know, that’s what we all work for is to be able to retire early and enjoy our lives, so I hope that’s the case for him.”

Rollins also discussed Hell in a Cell memories, his rivalry with Randy Orton and the NXT star he feels is the one to watch. The full interview is available here.

AJ Lee On Why She Won’t Appear On Total Divas, Locker Room Reaction To Paige Winning The Title & More

    16

Ahead of her match against Paige at the Hell in a Cell this Sunday, Divas Champion AJ Lee appeared as a guest this week on Turnbuckle Weekly with Chuck Carroll.

Lee was asked about whether she would ever consider joining the cast of Total Divas and she was adamant that would never happen.

“It’s been well documented for the second season they tried to get me on board. I’m not interested in being famous. I’m interested in doing my job and doing it well and that’s wrestling and that’s what I love,” AJ said. “I could do it, but I wouldn’t do it. I’m just happy being who I am on TV two days a week and on live events and then going into my private life, and into my little hole in the middle of nowhere and having no one talk to me about my private life.”

She also said she was happy that Paige would be joining the cast next season.

They spoke a lot about her in-ring chemistry with Paige as well as their friendship outside of WWE.

She asked whether there was any animosity toward Paige from veterans after she won the Divas title in her debut. She said no, because her debut was perfectly timed because the AJ character had been talking crap for about a year and just defeated every Diva on the roster a night earlier in the inaugural Vickie Guerrero Battle Royal. So, new blood was definitely needed.

“We needed something to give the division a kick in the butt and Paige is perfect for that,” she said.

Here is a little more from the interview:

On whether she knew she would win Diva’s Title after taking two months off from WWE

I certainly didn’t know. That was a pleasant surprise. That’s the thing, every time I’ve put the title on the line against Paige she’s won it. So, I’m slightly nervous going into Sunday.

On teasing a same-sex crush between she and Paige

“Well, we are a PG program. But I think that’s the fun part. The thing is everyone said my character is unpredictable and you didn’t know where it was going. And then to have somebody that does the same thing, that’s also kind of kooky and crazy and you didn’t know what we were going to do for a while.”

During the full interview, they also covered:

    – More on her in-ring chemistry with Paige

    – More on their friendship and similar characters

    – More on why she just said no to Total Divas

    – Debunking rumors about Total Divas cast members not getting title shots

Cesaro Speaks On No Longer Doing The “Cesaro Swing,” Working With Paul Heyman

    24

The following are highlights of a new “This Is Infamous” interview with Cesaro:

On Dolph Ziggler and the WWE Intercontinental Title: “Well I think Dolph has done a great job elevating the tile just because he is a very good in-ring competitor. He’s never as good as I am, which is why I think I should be the Intercontinental Champion. If you look at the Intercontinental Champion, historically that has always belonged to the best of the best in-ring talent, the best wrestler, whatever you want to call it, that came out night after night, produced night after night, and that will be me. So I think rightfully the Intercontinental Championship should be mine from Smackdown, and I’ll go into Hell in a Cell as the Intercontinental Champion.”

On if he disappointed in how the program with Jack Swagger ended? “Yeah, you know, I was definitely sad the way it ended. I think we could have… We should have won the Tag Team Championship. We would probably still be Tag Team Champions. And that’s my only regret.”

On the Cesaro Swing: “I put the Swing in every now and again. There’s enough one-trick ponies in the WWE, and I don’t wanna be one of them. If I feel like it’s right time to bust out the Swing, I’ll do it. But as you and everyone else has seen, there’s plenty of excitement in my matches with or without the Swing.”

On his time with Paul Heyman: “Well, you know, to have a chance to work with Paul Heyman, if you didn’t take it you’d be a fool. Of course I’m not a fool, so why wouldn’t I take the chance to be working with Paul Heyman very closely, learning from him, sitting under the learning tree, for lack of a better term. I did that and I thought that was a very good time for me. Very successful, and I learned a lot. That’s very important because it’s all about building the future. You wanna learn, and you wanna get better, and that’s what I do.”

In Florida we will do a match and an interview. In the interview you need to apologize and be sure to reference Kalamazoo by name since it is a TV market. Do NOT mention the visa situation. Just say that you have had personal issues that kept you away. Reference the World Title and say you respect Jay Briscoe. It doesn’t need to be long but we need to make sure you talk about your remorse for missing events, etc.

  • Gail Kim Talks Return Of Six-Sided Ring In TNA, Bound For Glory In Japan & More

    5

The following are highlights of a new Sports Vibe interview with TNA Knockout Gail Kim:

When you began your first stint with TNA back in 2005, did you imagine there would be such a great Knockouts division seven years later?

I just knew I wanted to wrestle and I wanted the company to have a women’s division. Never did I imagine that we would have such a great and talented amount of girls. I love our division now because everybody has something different to offer.

Who has been the toughest opponent you’ve come up against in TNA?

The toughest physically I would say is Taryn Terrell. I worked with Taryn in WWE and there we never really got to showcase what we could do. We never really developed a women’s division to what we have here. I never knew what to expect from her. She told me she loved physicality but I’ve never met anybody who wanted to go to that level. That was the first time in fourteen years that I was blown away. We’ve had a great chemistry since we started wrestling each other regularly.

TNA is putting heavy emphasis on expanding its international image. What was your view on taking Bound For Glory to Tokyo?

I think it was a great idea. We’ve never done a pay-per-view in Japan before. I know from my experience that the fans are different because they clap more and are less rowdy than in the United States. So it’s always interesting and it translated different on television. I think real true wrestling fans appreciated the idea. Wrestling is huge in Japan so to see a different style matched with the American style was great.

The likes of Ethan Carter III, James Storm and Austin Aries have all publicly opposed the return of the six-sided ring. What are your thoughts on bringing it back?

People don’t like change. I was fortunate enough to wrestle in that ring before so I knew it was going to take time to get used to. We’re still getting used to it. But honestly, we left it to the fans and it was certainly an overwhelming decision. I think it makes us different but at the beginning when we got it back, we could feel it physically on our bodies. Luckily, we have a great ring crew and we addressed the issue by working on it for us. It’s great now and it’s just a matter of getting used to where you are in the ring. I honestly think in a couple months nobody will realise.

If we’ll ever see Divas in Hell In a Cell: “I can tell you for sure that women like myself and Paige are down for it, and I think more than capable of hanging with the guys in that kind of scenario, because we’re insane and we like to jump off of stuff!” “I think if anyone could do it we could, but if it’s not in my generation, it needs to happen someday, and I really think women could handle that.”

Possible contenders for the Divas Title after Paige: “I see so much potential in people who haven’t particularly gotten that opportunity yet, like Emma and Summer and even Lana. I think they are interesting characters and women who have a lot of potential and I would love to something that’s vastly different with one of those girls. Just someone we haven’t seen yet get a chance.”

What really made her love wrestling: “Anything with Eddie Guerrero, especially WrestleMania 20 because I was at that one. Just to see the confetti and him crying and holding the title. Anything that he was in I was drawn to. I liked having a character that wasn’t 100% good or 100% evil, he just rode that line.”

LB: In WWE’s PG world, it’s a bit surprising that the company is releasing a horror movie that’s rated R- which is certainly going to appease fans just begging for a return to a product that caters more toward adults. How fulfilling was making the film for you personally knowing that you’d be able to go all out with a script and with effects that wouldn’t skimp on the slasher side of a true horror film?

Kane: What was neat about “See No Evil 2? is- of course it is a horror movie, but there’s also a lot of other elements in it. It’s not just a slasher flick. It has a good plot. It has very good characters. Also, in “See No Evil 2? we get to explore the life of Jacob Goodnight a lot more. We see the influence that his mom has had on him and get into that further. So it’s really a throwback to the old-fashioned 80?s style slasher flicks.

LB: The Kane character is one that’s actually celebrating its 17th anniversary in WWE this month- but you’ve actually been with the company for closer to twenty years. First off, with two decades in the wrestling business, how’s your body feeling on a day to day basis and are you still enjoying the grind?

Kane: Yeah I still enjoy it. The hardest part about our job is the travel. People see what we do in the ring and of course, that is physical and it is challenging. But I always find that it’s the travel which gets to me more than anything. But I’ve been fortunate that I don’t have any really terrible injuries so in that respect I’m doing very well. And I also try to keep myself in as good of shape as I can. I work out pretty much every day and I’m still feeling good after all these years.

LB: Looking back on your career, what’s perhaps your favorite match or favorite moment that you don’t think gets the credit or has had the lasting power that it probably deserves?

Kane: I’m not really sure. My favorite moment was beating “Stone Cold” Steve Austin for the WWE Championship and the thing about that is- yeah, I only held it for a day but nevertheless, the next night on [USA’s “Monday Night] Raw,” the match between Austin and I did the highest rating that “Raw” had drawn to that point. That felt like one of the launching points for the ‘Attitude Era.’ That was one of the points to where things shot up from there. And the fact that, you know, there I am in the ring with arguably the guy that would go on to become the most popular wrestler in WWE history and I’m part of all that- so that was a really big moment for me. There’s been a lot of other stuff of course, but that’s my favorite moment. It would be that one.
