Bobby Fish Opens Up About Undisputed Era’s NXT Debut

0

Veteran wrestler Bobby Fish is All Elite. Fish has wrestled around the world for many top promotions. Prior to joining AEW, he had a successful run with WWE & NXT.

Fish made his NXT debut in 2017 during the TakeOver: Brooklyn III event alongside Kyle O’Reilly. The two joined forces with Adam Cole later that night in what was one of the most impactful wrestling debuts in recent times.

The former WWE star recently had an interview with Chris Van Vliet. He discussed things such as his AEW debut, joining the MLW roster, and more.

Talking about the debut of their group which later became the Undisputed Era, Fish admitted that it was one of the highlights of his career. He discussed the big crowd reaction they got on their arrival.

Bobby Fish on Undisputed Era’s Debut

“Debuting in the Barclays Center, standing next to 2 of my best friends, and getting that reaction that is now somewhat estranged to us because of the lack of crowds recently, There’s all that, and as a whole,

I think when we found out that it was going to be Adam [Cole], Kyle and I.” recalled Bobby Fish, “That was NXT’s idea. It felt like we were just waiting for someone to come into the room and go ‘Ah! We were just screwing with you.’”

Sanity defeated Authors Of Pain to win the NXT tag team championships at the Takeover: Brooklyn III event. The AEW star alongside O’Reilly made his debut right after this match, attacking the new champions.

The duo then helped Adam Cole in taking out the newly crowned NXT champion Drew McIntyre after the main event, marking the beginning of a brand new era.

Sean Waltman On NXT 2.0: ‘You Can’t Have 60+ Year Old People In Charge’

0

NXT’s attempt to attract a younger audience with the recent revamp seems to be failing so far. Sean Waltman believes it’s because the people in charge are much older. The former WWE star recently discussed the NXT revamp on his Pro Wrestling 4 Life podcast. He commented on the intention behind this rebranding.

Waltman discussed how the people in charge of the show geared towards younger audience are all 60+ year-olds. He suggested that maybe they should let young people make the decisions for the show:

“Who’s in charge of the creative direction of NXT? You can’t have 60+ year-old people in charge of the creative direction of a show that’s geared towards young people, maybe oversee it but you got to let young, fresh blood make those decisions.”

Sean Waltman Says The Decision Makers Don’t Know What Young People Want

Sean Waltman continued his explanation saying that the company needs to be self-aware. The 49-year-old discussed how people like him think that they know what younger people want. Though In reality, they don’t:

We got to be self aware enough to know that we don’t and I’m including me too as a 50-year-old man, we don’t f**king know what they (young people) want. We might think we do or we might think we know what’s best for them, but we don’t f**king know. We need to f**king listen to people that do.”

Reports suggest that the 76-year-old Vince McMahon and 58-year-old Bruce Prichard are the people making the main decisions for NXT. Though they are not involved in the day-to-day. Per the last update, a 56-year-old Shawn Michaels was in charge of the operations in the absence of Triple H.

Alex Hammerstone Relinquishes MLW National Openweight Title After 866 Days

0

Alex Hammerstone has relinquished the MLW national openweight championship after winning the promotion’s world title last week during MLW Fightland. The 30-year-old faced the former MLW champion Jacob Fatu in a historic title vs. title match during the show. He won the bout and ended Fatu’s 819 days long reign.

Then on this week’s episode of Fusion: Alpha, Hammerstone informed Cesar Duran that he would now like to focus on defending the world title only:

The MLW national openweight championship was introduced back in April 2019. Alex won the title in a tournament to crown the inaugural champion. He defeated Brian Pillman Jr. in the finals.

Alex Hammerstone made his wrestling debut back in August 2013. He wrestled for a number of indie promotions in the early stages of his career. He made his MLW debut back in February 2019. The MLW champion made appearances for WWE as an enhancement talent around 2015.

He also attended a couple of WWE tryouts around the same time but nothing came out of it. This concludes Alex’s 866 days long reign as the national openweight champion. There is no word yet on what the company is planning for the title now.

0

Impact Wrestling has confirmed the signing of indie star Masha Slamovich after her recent match against the Knockouts champion Deonna Purrazzo.

The indie star faced the Impact champion during this past Saturday’s Knockouts Knockdown event. She delivered an impressive performance but failed to win the bout.

Impact Wrestling released post-show footage from the PPV yesterday. In the video, current Impact producer and Hall Of Famer Gail Kim is seen approaching Slamovich after her loss.

JBL On Brock Lesnar’s Strength: “He Should Be An Avenger”

0

Brock Lesnar’s strength has often been compared to a superhuman. The experience of JBL has been something similar and he believes that Lesnar should be an avenger. The former world champion recently held a Q&A session on YouTube. He discussed things such as Brawl For All, challenging Dusty Rhodes, and more.

JBL recalled the time he got to work with Lesnar during an event in his hometown. He said that the Beast Incarnate threw him like he was a child. Per the former APA member, the strength of Lesnar is like that of an avenger:

“He threw me like a child. The strength of Brock Lesnar is different. It’s like an Avenger. He should be an Avenger.”
– JBL

JBL also detailed his conversation with the former Universal champion before their bout. He revealed that he was worried about Lesnar suplexing him because of his height. though Brock was not worried about it at all:

“I asked him for before, ‘Brock, are you sure you can do this? Not strength wise, just the logistics of throwing a guy that’s really tall’ and Brock said, ‘I’ve been suplexing people since I was five years old.’ He suplexed me so easily that I got up. I said, ‘Do it again.’

JBL also revealed that Brock Lesnar had offered to put him over during the show because his friends were in attendance. Though he told the former UFC star that it didn’t matter who won.

Chris Jericho On Dynamite Beating Raw In Key Demo

0

AEW Dynamite beating WWE Raw in the key demo rating for a couple of weeks has been one of the most talked pro wrestling stories recently. Chris Jericho thinks it was made possible because of their cool factor.

The former AEW world champion recently made an appearance on Reinvented with Jen Eckhart. He discussed things such as Tony Khan deciding to run the Arthur Ashe Stadium in New York instead of Madison Square Garden and more.

Commenting on their demo win in the interview conducted right after Dynamite: Grand Slam, Jericho described how AEW has a different attitude and a cool factor:

“The last three weeks, we have done bigger demo numbers than WWE RAW has done, which is the flagship show. I think our company came out of nowhere, basically, and really exploded because of a different attitude,

And you can see that when you watch our shows, It seems to me that we are the hottest wrestling company in the world,” said Chris Jericho, “And more importantly, we have the cool factor.”

During the same interview, Y2J also revealed some interesting backstage details on AEW’s initial TV deal with WarnerMedia. He detailed that they were originally not being paid a TV rights fee for airing their show on TNT.

The company was initially only getting a revenue share from advertisements. Though according to Chris Jericho their deal was upgraded after the first three months. You can check out his comments on the matter at this link.

AEW Star Signs Contract Extension

0

An AEW star will be sticking around with the company for years to come.

AEW has only been around for two years but the company has already had substantial success. In fact, the promotion has been able to offer contract extensions to its talent. One of those talents is current AEW Women’s Champion Britt Baker.

Baker isn’t the only one who has gotten some extra love from AEW. During an interview with PWInsider, Scorpio Sky revealed that he has signed his own contract extension.

“He’s always shown faith in me, and it’s something that I’ve really truly appreciated. He saw something in me very, very early on. He still sees it, evident by the contract extension that I just signed so I’m going to be with AEW for a long, long time. A lot of that comes down to Tony Khan and his vision. There’s nothing more I can say about it. Nothing but good things to say about working for a guy like that.”

Scorpio Sky went on to reveal how long the extension is for.

“I did that right around the time of the Pay-Per-View. I’m happy to be with AEW for at least five more years.”

Sky is in the midst of quite the push on AEW TV along with Ethan Page and their manager, Dan Lambert. The two defeated Chris Jericho and Jake Hager in New York City. On the Oct. 15 episode of Rampage, Sky and Page will team with former UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior dos Santos to take on Chris Jericho, Jake Hager, and Sammy Guevara.

Sky, Page, and dos Santos will be accompanied by UFC welterweight Jorge Masvidal.

CM Punk Wanted AJ Mendez To Take Meeting With Jeanie Buss

0

CM Punk encouraged his wife, AJ Mendez, to take that meeting with Jeanie Buss.

Mendez got the wrestling world buzzing with the announcement of her return to the industry. Mendez will serve as an Executive Producer for Women of Wrestling and she’ll also be providing color commentary.

It’s not every day that the owner of the LA Lakers wants to get ahold of you. CM Punk told Robbie Fox on My Mom’s Basement that once he heard Jeanie Buss wanted to speak to AJ, he was all for it.

“I had somebody reach out to me, saying, ‘Hey, Jeanie Buss wants to talk to April.’ I was like, ‘What?’ April doesn’t know anything about sports, like nothing, you know? So I took the idea to her and I was just like, ‘You have to at least take this meeting. Jeanie Buss is the most powerful woman in sports.’ You know, I think in my mind, I was just doing cartwheels thinking of my wife talking to Jeanie Buss. I thought that was super cool.”

Mendez doesn’t plan on wrestling for WOW, at least not now. In an interview with Izzy on the official WOW YouTube channel, Mendez said that while she can technically make a return to the ring, she’s content with stepping aside and allowing this current generation of talent to shine.

WOW is expected to begin its relaunch in the fall of 2022. The company has agreed to a syndication deal with ViacomCBS. Older episodes of WOW are expected to start airing on CW Seed and Pluto TV in Dec. 2021.

Jeff Cobb Discusses Potential AEW Return

0

Jeff Cobb has talked about the possibility of making his way to AEW again.

Back in Feb. 2020, Cobb appeared on AEW Dynamite. He served as a bounty hunter for Chris Jericho and The Inner Circle, taking out Jon Moxley. Moxley ended up pinning Cobb the following week.

Jeff Cobb has been making his mark in NJPW as a member of Will Ospreay’s United Empire faction. During an interview with Sports Illustrated, Cobb said that while NJPW is his main focus right now, a return trip to AEW isn’t off the table.

“New Japan is the right decision for me. I have a lot of unfinished business here in New Japan—tons of guys I have yet to suplex and tons of championships to win. I also respect what Tony Khan is doing, especially the level of excitement he has brought into the pro wrestling community and all the amazing crossovers going on.

“Having said that, will I show up in AEW? Right now, I have my sights set on the G1 and the IWGP world heavyweight championship. But if there’s something that interests me or the United Empire, you never know.”

Cobb is currently in the G1 Climax tournament and he has been running through his opponents. At the moment, Cobb has 14 points. That’s tied with Kazuchika Okada for the most points in the tournament. Both Cobb and Okada are undefeated in the tourney and are set to collide on Oct. 20.

Kurt Angle Recalls When Stone Cold Dug A Blade Into His Head

0

Kurt Angle has looked back on the first time he knew how to bleed in wrestling.

Back in Aug. 2001, Angle challenged Stone Cold Steve Austin for the WWF Championship at Summerslam. Angle was the face while Austin was the heel going into the PPV. Angle won the match on that night but he didn’t win the title because he defeated Austin via disqualification.

Fans who remember that match know that Kurt Angle donned the crimson mask as he was bleeding quite a bit. He explained why that was the case during an episode of The Kurt Angle Show.

“Steve made me a blade. So I had it, I put tape around my wrist and put the blade inside of it. And when the time came to do it, I kept slicing my head and nothing was working. I was barely scratching the surface and it was hurting, killing me. It starts getting painful when you keep trying to gig yourself.

“Austin was like, ‘Shit, kid. Give me that razor.’ He dug it in my head and twisted, and I bled like a sieve. I didn’t stop bleeding the whole entire match. It was horrible. He taught me how to bleed [laughs]. And from then on that’s how I did it, I just didn’t do it as hard as he did. He dug it in real hard and twisted real hard. He probably got the blade in there a good half-inch right up against my skull and I bled profusely. But that’s how I learned how to bleed, how to gig. Austin taught me the hard way [laughs].”

Angle would end up defeating Austin for the championship at the Unforgiven PPV the following month. Stone Cold won back the title back and Angle wouldn’t hold the gold again until Dec. 2002.

Batista Admits WWE Was A ‘Toxic Environment’ When He First Started

0

Batista isn’t afraid to say that the WWE locker room was toxic when he first started.

There was a lot of uncertainty with Batista when he first got his start in WWE. He had been a bouncer and didn’t really have much going for him when he entered the wrestling business. Despite his impressive look, the Deacon Batista gimmick was going nowhere and Batista thought he’d be out of a job for sure.

Luckily for the big man, he was taken under Triple H’s wing and competed in the Evolution faction along with Randy Orton and Ric Flair. Batista would end up becoming a big star, winning multiple world titles in WWE before finding success in Hollywood.

Still, Batista will never forget his humble beginnings. He admitted to Men’s Health that the environment in WWE at first was tough to deal with.

“I couldn’t get comfortable. People didn’t like me, I was doing something wrong, the company wasn’t going to do anything with me, they didn’t know what to do with me, they didn’t know where I fit in. It was just a very toxic atmosphere. Wrestling is very competitive. It’s very cutthroat. You’re put in a position where you have to posture up all the time, and it’s exhausting. It’s just exhausting.”

Batista said that when he first entered the world of acting, he wanted to prove that he was more than a meathead whose only purpose was to play the tough guy in an action movie. He’s been able to score over 20 film roles since leaving WWE. Not bad for someone who once only knew how to be a bouncer.

Arjan Bhullar Says He Is In Talks With WWE And AEW

0

MMA champion Arjan Bhullar has been teasing a pro wrestling run for a while. He has now revealed that he is in talks with both WWE and AEW about it.

The One Heavyweight World Champion recently spoke to Calf Kick Sports. He discussed things such as his title defense against Anatoly Malykhin and more.

When asked if AEW or WWE are on his radar for a pro wrestling run, Bhullar said that they both are. He revealed that he has been engaged in talks with both companies and claimed that people can expect an announcement soon:

“I’ve been engaged with both companies and we should have something coming down the pipe very soon. I picked a fight with both companies and everyone out there, it’s something I’m going to do and I’m just looking to get the business case in order and the right approach.”

Arjan Bhullar previously called out both WWE and AEW stars earlier this year. The reigning champion said that he has reached the pinnacle of his sport and he is coming for the stars within these companies next.

He is also friends with former WWE champion Jinder Mahal. Mahal walked him to the octagon for a UFC fight back in 2015. So it won’t be a surprise if we see him being paired with the modern day maharaja if he signs with WWE.

The Rock Says He Has Done Research About Potential Presidential Run

0

The Rock says that while he doesn’t know anything about politics, he does care about the country and he cares about all his fellow Americans. The great one has been talking about a potential presidential run for a while now. This subject has also been getting a lot of attention from his fans.

The former world champion provided the latest update on his stand during an interview with Vanity Fair. He said that at the end of the day he doesn’t know much about devising a policy but he does care about the people of the country:

“You know, at the end of the day, I don’t know the first thing about politics. I don’t know the first thing about policy. I care deeply about our country. I care about every fucking American who bleeds red, and that’s all of them.

And—there’s no delusion here—I may have some decent leadership qualities, but that doesn’t necessarily make me a great presidential candidate. That’s where I am today,”

Elsewhere, he also gave some idea on his early preparation for the role. The Rock said he has talked to people in politics and done “a small amount of research and analysis to see where this comes from and to see what it could look like in the future.”

Describing the result of his research, the people’s champion said that “indicators are all very positive—in, for example, 2024, and in, for example, 2028.”

The Rock is expected to make a WWE return at Survivor Series. Though his rumored WrestleMania match against Roman Reigns is seeming less likely than before with the company keeping doors open for an alternate match for the head of the table.

Dominik Mysterio Comments On Potential Match With Rey Mysterio

0

Dominik Mysterio has said that he would love to take on the Rey Mysterio mantle in the future. The most WWE way of passing this torch would be booking a match between these two. Though the 24-year-old is not sure that he wants to trade blows with his father despite their disagreements. He instead has an alternate scenario in his mind for the change to take place.

Dominik recently had an interview with Sportskeeda. When asked about a potential match with his father, the Raw star said he wouldn’t want to get in the ring with him:

“Personally, I would not like to get in the ring with my dad. Just because I think there’s so much more that we can still do. But you know, what you’re seeing on TV is how we argue and how we fight and how we bump heads, man, that’s 100% us.

The younger Mysterio continued his explanation saying that while their arguments get frustrating at times, he also understands where his father is coming from. He said that Rey wants to help him out and he doesn’t know if he sees himself jumping in the ring and trading blows with him.

Dominik Mysterio Says Passing The Torch Could Be A WrestleMania Moment

Dominik Mysterio wants to continue his father's legacy
Dominik Mysterio wants to continue his father’s legacy

While a potential match is out of sight, Dominik still has the goal of continuing the family legacy. He mentioned how there is no Rey Mysterio Jr. right now. Discussing an alternative scenario for this to happen, the former champion suggested the idea of Rey picking someone for him to beat:

“Traditionally, you know as a son they would have given me the Rey Mysterio Jr. since he’s Rey Mysterio. I think [it’s a] WrestleMania moment: [Rey Mysterio picks someone impossible for Dominik to beat.] Somehow, we make it work and he ends up passing the torch over to me with the mask and the name. That’s a dream for me.”

Both Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio were picked by Raw during night 1 of WWE Draft. After Rey Mysterio lost his first-round King Of The Ring match against Sami Zayn, we will have to see if either of them get something to do at Crown Jewel.

Rey Mysterio Feels His Promos Were Lacking During 2006 World Title Run

0

Rey Mysterio admits he doesn’t believe he had his best promo work during his first run as World Heavyweight Champion.

Mysterio won the 2006 Royal Rumble match. It was the classic underdog story but this one was quite different. Mysterio’s close friend, Eddie Guerrero, passed away in Nov. 2005. Mysterio would carry on the legacy of “Latino Heat” by winning the World Heavyweight Championship in a triple threat match against Kurt Angle and Randy Orton at WrestleMania 22.

During an appearance on The Kurt Angle Show, Mysterio said he felt his inability to cut a solid promo hurt him during his first run as World Heavyweight Champion.

“I never took the time to work on what I needed to work on in order to back that title up and that was working on my promos or character development. In Lucha, you were never taught that part of this industry. I think that’s where I dropped the ball, tremendously, on not being able to back up having the title and being able to cut promos. I’ve never really been a promo guy. I do most of my talking inside the ring and that’s what fans know me for. If I had done my end of the job, the outcome would have been different.”

Angle, himself, recently admitted that he pushed to win back the title from Rey. His argument was that he’d be able to elevate a younger talent in the process. WWE stuck with Rey as champion until July 2006 when he was pinned by Booker T.

Today, Rey Mysterio is recognized as a legend in the wrestling business. His 2006 World Heavyweight Title run didn’t hurt him in the eyes of WWE management long-term as he eventually recaptured the gold in 2010 and won the WWE Championship.

Kenny Omega vs. Hangman Page Will Take Place at AEW Full Gear

0

The date for Kenny Omega vs. Hangman Page has now been confirmed.

On the second-year anniversary show of AEW Dynamite, Hangman Page made his return to TV. He was the Joker entrant in the Casino Ladder Match featuring Jon Moxley, Andrade El Idolo, Pac, Lance Archer, Orange Cassidy, and Matt Hardy.

Hangman Page ended up winning the match. As a result, he has been guaranteed a shot at Omega’s AEW World Heavyweight Championship. AEW hadn’t announced when Page will challenge for the gold.

AEW head honcho Tony Khan appeared on My Mom’s Basement with Robbie Fox and he confirmed that Kenny Omega vs. Hangman Page will take place at the Full Gear PPV on Nov. 13.

The feud between Hangman and The Elite has been brewing for a while now. At first, it really boiled down to a nasty rivalry between Hangman and Matt Jackson of The Young Bucks. Soon, Hangman was kicked out of The Elite.

Hangman Page had a chance to earn a world title opportunity if he won an elimination tag team match back in July. Page teamed with The Dark Order to take on The Elite but the numbers game was too much and Page was beaten.

AEW Full Gear will be held inside the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Tony Khan In Talks About Launching AEW Library On Streaming Service

0

Tony Khan recently discussed the possibility of a streaming service that would feature AEW’s content library. According to comments the AEW President made on the Brandon Walker on Rasslin podcast via Barstool Sports, he has been speaking to WarnerMedia about the possibility.

“I’m talking to great people about WarnerMedia and AEW partnering. I think there are great opportunities. I work with one of the biggest media companies in the world and they have a lot of great ideas. Hopefully, we can make a solution for the fans,” Khan said (transcriptions via Fightful).

Khan continued to say that he is working on building up the AEW content library for just such a purpose. He also mentioned the “House Always Wins” unaired live show which could debut on the service.

“Believe me, I get asked that question every day. I’m trying to build the library up. We’ve done over 100 episodes of Dynamite, pay-per-views, streaming specials, I have something nobody has ever seen before with The House Always Wins, a pay-per-view level card. It’s something I’ve been saving and it’s a great show nobody has ever seen. It’s going to be available.“

The House Always Wins was held on April 9th, 2021 from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida. The main event saw Darby Allin defend the TNT Championship against the winner of a 15-man battle Royale held earlier in the show. In addition to the Dynamite, Rampage, Dark and PPV libraries, AEW also held several events before the launch of Dynamite in 2019. These include Fyter Fest and Fight for the Fallen 2019.

Ricky Starks: AEW Welcomes New Talent But Don’t Get Selfish

0

Ricky Starks says that AEW always has room for talent but he has a piece of advice.

It’s no secret that AEW has become the place to be for many wrestlers. That’s because while WWE remains the most popular American wrestling company, AEW provides an alternative. The promotion has grown substantially in just two years.

We’ve seen big names such as CM Punk, Bryan Danielson, and Adam Cole make their AEW debuts. Despite this, it appears AEW’s homegrown haven’t been negatively impacted.

Starks, who considers himself a homegrown AEW talent, told Denise Salcedo for Instinct Culture that AEW will keep leaving the door open for wrestlers. There is one rule that AEW hopefuls must follow, however.

“Don’t get it twisted, the people that were here originally built all of this. Just like any type of building piece, we had that, then we had them come in, then we have the young guys that are moving up now being the stars they were being built up for. It’s just so many cool parts. I think it’s cool to have someone like Punk, Bryan, and Adam Cole because iron sharpens iron and we cannot get better if we just wrestle the same 50 guys that we did the past ten years. So, I am a fan of it. I am really excited for it. The more the merrier as long as they come to work, and wanna help out and not be selfish.”

Ricky Starks recently made his return to the ring on the Oct. 8 edition of Rampage. While he had been on camera the past few months, Starks hadn’t been in the ring for a while. Starks recently told Salcedo he’d been cleared since July but AEW allowed him to have more time to fully heal.

Bryan Danielson & Minoru Suzuki Hype Upcoming Match On Rampage Buy-In

0

Bryan Danielson and Minoru Suzuki will clash this Friday night on the Rampage Buy-In show. AEW announced yesterday that from 9PM until the start of Rampage at 10PM, AEW’s YouTube channel will run live from the James L. Knight Center in Miami.

Both Bryan Danielson and Minoru Suzuki have released statements about the upcoming match.

“In 2004, I wrestled Minoru Suzuki 1 on 1. He beat the sh*t out of me. Showed me what violence and sadism inside a wrestling ring looks like. Since then, I’ve learned a thing or two about violence myself. And sadism. Excited to show Mr. Suzuki what I’ve learned,” Danielson Tweeted.

Minoru Suzuki also Tweeted about the match.

“When I was drinking coffee in the city, I got a call and decided in a hurry. The wind of Minoru Suzuki will blow to Miami,” a translation of his Tweet reads.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CU8goJqBkn3/?utm_medium=twitter

Suzuki and “The American Dragon” met on July 20th, 2004 at NJPW Summer Struggle. Suzuki defeated Danielson in 13 minutes and 38 seconds. They had been on opposing sides of several tag matches leading up to the event. After their singles match, however, Suzuki and Danielson teamed together 4 times from July to October. They went 2-2 when teaming together. Their last match was a loss to Hiroyoshi Tenzan and Shinsuke Nakamura on October 20th, 2004.

0

Brett had been hired as deputy administrator at the Mississippi Department of Human Services in 2017 before his arrest.

Recently, State Auditor Shad White sent out several letters demanding repayment for misspent welfare dollars. Although all details have not been revealed, Dibiase Sr.’s Heart of David Ministry, had received $2.1 million in welfare money from the state of Mississippi, according to state records.

Tony Khan Claims This Week’s AEW Shows Are Not About Competing With WWE

0

Tony Khan is claiming that this weekend’s episodes of AEW shows are not about competing with WWE. Instead, it’s about producing the best show they can. The AEW president recently made an appearance on Moose & Maggie on WFAN. Among other things, he discussed the upcoming AEW shows.

The first half-hour of Rampage on Friday this week will be competing against SmackDown. WWE has announced that the final half-hour of their show will be running commercial-free, while AEW has confirmed a buy-in featuring Bryan Danielson for their show. The Dynamite episode will be airing on Saturday instead of Wednesday the next couple weeks to avoid a clash with NHL.

Tony Khan discussed these changes during his interview. He claimed that their shows this weekend are not about competing with the opposing promotion:

“We have Friday night Rampage on TNT at 10:00 and we have Saturday night Dynamite on TNT at 8:00. Right now, we have all this momentum. The number one show on all of cable and satellite TV six straight Wednesdays.

It’s bad timing to be moving off Wednesday when you’re on such a great recent run, but this weekend’s huge for us, and the shows have been so good. It’s not about competing with them. It’s about doing our best show.”

Though while Tony Khan is claiming that their shows are not about competing with WWE, he also isn’t leaving any chance to take shots at the promotion. The AEW president claimed on Twitter that he can’t wait to beat SmackDown when the clash was first confirmed. He also recently took a shot at this Monday’s Raw, saying it sucked.

It’s worth mentioning here that both Dynamite and Rampage suffered big rating drop last week. So it would be really interesting to see how the shows perform with all the announced changes this week.

Chelsea Green Says WWE Prohibited Talent From Attending All In

0

Nobody knew that the All In event would become the catalyst of a big revolution in the wrestling business when it originally took place. Though WWE still warned their talents against attending the show, according to Chelsea Green.

The Impact Wrestling star talked about the PPV event on her Green With Envy podcast. She discussed things such as her fatal four-way match at All In and more.

Chelsea then said that she wanted her fiancée Matt Cardona fka Zack Ryder to be at the event. However, he couldn’t do it because he got a text from WWE:

“I will say that I really wish Matt had been able to go. Every one at WWE who had a spouse or a partner that was on All In got a text the week or two out from talent relations at WWE, saying they were not allowed to be at All In.

So originally, of course, Matt and people like Deonna and Adam Cole, so many people were going to be at All In, just backstage watching us.” said Chelsea Green, “And when they sent that text, I mean, it was way too risky for any of them to be there, especially after being told not to.”

Chelsea Green also revealed how she was able to participate in her fatal four-way All In match against Britt Baker, Madison Rayne, and Tessa Blanchard, despite already having signed a WWE contract.

She explained that she didn’t say anything about being part of the show to the officials. Instead, she just told them that she had to finish up her bookings before reporting at the performance center.

After taking part in a WWE tryout, the female star was signed to a contract in August 2018. Though she didn’t report to the performance center until October, a month after the All In PPV in September 2018.

Referee Aubrey Edwards has revealed that she has signed a contract extension to stay with her current promotion in All Elite Wrestling for the foreseeable future

The AEW star recently appeared on the Danger Zone podcast. She discussed things such as the upcoming AEW console game, working with CM Punk and more.

Edwards also discussed the hate she receives online for her work sometimes. She explained that keeping the people she works with happy is her priority. Aubrey then revealed that she signed a contract extension this year:

“People have a lot of opinions of wrestling, but unless you’re in the discussion about the match, you don’t fully understand all of the things that are being talked about, right? Ultimately, if the wrestlers I work with are happy, and my bosses are happy — I got a contract extension this year.

So clearly, I’m doing something good.” Aubrey Edwards, “If those are the people that ultimately determine my future, and if they’re happy, that’s all that matters.”

The 34-year-old made her debut in 2017. She refereed the first-ever AEW world championship match between Chris Jericho and Adam Page. She was then signed as the first full-time female referee of AEW in September 2019.

Since Aubrey did not provide any further detail on her new deal with AEW, it’s hard to say how long she will be staying with them. Though it at least confirms that she won’t be leaving the promotion anytime soon.

Raw Draws Lowest Live Attendance Since Return To Road

0

This week’s episode of Monday Night Raw from Chase Center in San Francisco, California attracted the lowest live attendance since WWE returned to road in July.

The show featuring the announced team-up of SmackDown women’s champion Becky Lynch and Raw women’s champion Charlotte Flair among other things managed to draw in only 4,031 fans in the arena, according to WrestleTix:

This was still a good fill-out for Raw as the estimated capacity for the arena was 4,208. Though the chase center can hold up to 18,000 fans for basketball.

This was the lowest attendance figure in 13 weeks, ever since Raw returned to road with the July 19 episode. The show from Dallas had attracted 9,189 fans.

The highest attendance for Raw since they resumed touring was 12,629 for the August 2 show. The episode from Allstate Arena in Chicago featured a live appearance for Goldberg among others.

Poor live attendance had been a persisting problem for WWE before coronavirus. Reports of low attendance and empty arenas had become a regular occurrence.

Many believe that WWE’s failure to create new stars that can draw the audience is the reason for this. Though Jinder Mahal believes that the notion about the promotion not creating new stars is wrong. You can check out his comments at this link.
