Big E Intends Taunted Orton & Lashley

Big E kicked off the show and came to the ring with the MITB contract to a great reaction from the crowd. Orton, Riddle, Lashley, and MVP then made their way to the ring as Big E danced around with the briefcase. Lashley and Orton had a stare down and Big E interrupted. Big E vowed to cash in the contract tonight and Riddle asked him to not cash in on Randy if he won the match.

MVP told Riddle to “shut his dumb ass up” and claimed that Randy Orton used his power to change the title match from Extreme Rules to tonight. Orton said he went to who he needed to and got it changed because he is Randy freaking Orton. Big E shouted “we’ve got two big meaty men bumping meat tonight!” as the crowd chanted for Orton.

MVP turned the focus back to Big E and said he always believed that he had the most potential of New Day. MVP suggested that Big E ran from SmackDown because he is afraid of Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar. He added that Big E will be afraid of Lashley after what he does to Orton tonight. Randy said he is going to become the champion tonight and Big E interrupted. Big E once again said he was going to cash in tonight and Lashley told him he will shove the MITB contract so far up Big E’s buttocks that he will be able to taste the fine print. Orton then hit an RKO out of nowhere and exited the ring. Big E had the MITB briefcase in hand but did not cash in after the RKO.

Alexa Bliss Gave Charlotte A Gift

RAW Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair faced Shayna Baszler tonight in a Championship Contenders match. Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler had a conversation backstage and vowed to get on the same page.

Baszler started off the match in control and booted Charlotte to the apron. Shayna went for a Dropkick but Charlotte got out of the way and connected with a Crossbody as RAW went to a commercial break.

When RAW returned, Charlotte connected with a Fallaway Slam and climbed to the top turnbuckle. Baszler tripped her up and sent her to the canvas with a kick to the head. Shayna went for a cover but Charlotte kicked out at two.

Shayna unloaded some kicks but Charlotte shrugged them off and connected with a Clothesline. Flair followed it up with some chops as the crowd chanted “woo!”. Charlotte then hit the big boot and went for the cover but Shayna was able to kick out.

Flair slammed Shayna’s head off the turnbuckle and Baszler rolled out of the ring. Charlotte climbed to the top rope and hit a Moonsault. Nia Jax came down to the entrance ramp and Charlotte did the DX “suck it” motion and Nia responded by gagging as RAW went to a break.

When RAW returned, Baszler hit another German Suplex and went for a Body Slam but Flair escaped. Charlotte hit a chop block and locked in a submission hold against the ropes. Baszler broke free and Charlotte laughed in Nia’s face outside the ring. Back in the ring, Charlotte hit a big boot on Baszler for the pinfall victory.

After the match, Alexa Bliss came to the ring with Lilly and a present for Charlotte. Alexa said that the gift was a thank you for accepting the title match at Extreme Rules. Charlotte told Alexa that she doesn’t collect dolls, she collects championships. Bliss told Flair to have some fun and handed her the gift.

Charlotte said “no!” and the crowd chanted “yes!”. Flair finally took the gift and it was a doll named “Charly”. Bliss threw the doll in her face and hit a Sunset Flip Powerbomb. Alexa posed with the RAW Women’s Championship to end the segment.

McIntyre & Viking Raiders Picked Up A Win

Drew McIntyre and the Viking Raiders faced Jinder Mahal, Veer, and Shanky tonight on RAW. Erik got trapped in the corner but quickly tagged Drew in. McIntyre beat the hell out of everyone by himself and then hit a Claymore on Shanky for the quick victory. McIntyre posed with Viking Raiders after the match.

Damian Priest Retained The US Title

Damian Priest defended the United States Championship against Jeff Hardy tonight on RAW. Jeff Hardy was chasing around the 24/7 Championship on last week’s show. Sheamus joined commentary for the match.

Jeff and Damian locked up in the middle of the ring to start off the action. Hardy connected with a Dropkick and followed it up with an Atomic Drop. Jeff hit a Leg Drop, a Dropkick, and then an Enziguri that sent Damian to the outside. Hardy leaped off the apron and leveled Damian with a Clothesline before the action returned to the ring. Damian hit Jeff with a kick to the face and knocked him back out of the ring. Damian leaped onto Hardy and traded words with Sheamus as RAW went to a commercial break.

When RAW returned, Damian and Jeff were trading punches in the ring. Hardy got the better of the exchange and hit a Russian Leg Sweep for a two count. Priest went for a Clothesline but Jeff dodged it and connected with a Slingblade for another near fall. Priest climbed to the top rope but Jeff caught him with some punches to the face.

Priest booted Jeff to the canvas and connected with a flying body scissors for a two count. Damian followed it up with the Reckoning for the pinfall victory. After the match, Sheamus attacked Priest and then hit Jeff Hardy with a Brogue Kick. Sheamus went for a Brogue Kick on Priest but the United States Champion was ready. Damian booted Sheamus in the face and sent the Celtic Warrior out of the ring to end the segment. Priest will defend the United States Championship against Sheamus at Extreme Rules.

Ripley & Nikki Sent A Message To The Tag Champs

Rhea Ripley and Nikki A.S.H. were interviewed backstage. Women’s Tag Team Champions Natalya & Tamina interrupted and it led to a brawl. Sonya Deville broke it up and announced that Tamina will face Nikki A.S.H. in a singles match. Ripley and Natalya were ringside for the match.

Tamina dominated the match early and stomped Nikki down in the corner. Tamina connected with a Body Slam and then went for an Elbow Drop but Nikki got out of the way. Nikki followed it up with a Tornado DDT and went for the cover but Tamina countered into a cover of her own for the win.

Natalya then faced Rhea Ripley in a singles match with Tamina & Nikki ringside. Natalya connected with a Hurricanrana and posed for the crowd. Ripley went for a Backbreaker but Natalya was able to block it. Ripley hit a big boot that sent Natalya out of the ring.

Ripley chased after her and went for a Dropkick but Natalya got out of the way. Rhea leveled Tamina with the Dropkick but turned around into a Clothesline from Natalya. Back in the ring, Natalya set up for the Sharpshooter but Ripley connected with a punch to the face.

When RAW returned from a break, Ripley hit Natalya with a headbutt and then a Dropkick to the face. Ripley charged and wound up running into the turnbuckle as Natalya got out of the way. Natalya connected with a Dropkick of her own and went for the cover but Ripley kicked out at two.

Rhea planted Natalya with a Northern Lights Suplex and then locked in the Texas Cloverleaf in the middle of the ring. Natalya escaped and rolled up Ripley. Natalya got her feet on the ropes for leverage but Nikki broke it up. Ripley locked in the submission hold again and this time Natalya tapped.

Big E Captured The WWE Championship

Lashley defended the WWE Championship against Randy Orton in the main event. MVP and Riddle were ringside for the match. Orton rolled out of the ring and avoided Lashley in the beginning of the match. Lashley chased after him but got distracted by Riddle.

Orton capitalized and sent Lashley into the barricade. Orton bounced Lashley’s head off the announce table and rolled the champ back into the ring. Randy went for the cover but Lashley kicked out at two. Orton went for the draping DDT but Lashley countered into a Back Body Drop that sent Orton out of the ring. Lashley followed Orton to the outside but it backfired again and Randy Clotheslined Lashley into the timekeeper’s area. Orton grabbed his knee in pain and hobbled back into the ring as RAW went to a break.

The WWE Champion took control when RAW returned and slammed Randy’s head into the ring post. Orton crashed to the floor outside the ring and MVP taunted him. Orton got onto the ring apron but Lashley sent him flying into the barricade. Randy fell down to the floor and Riddle checked on him.

Lashley brought Orton back into the ring and connected with a Neckbreaker for a two count. Orton hit the draping DDT and went for an RKO but Lashley blocked it. Lashley leveled Orton with a Spear for a two count. Lashley went for the Hurt Lock but Orton broke free with an elbow to the face.

Orton hit the RKO but couldn’t go for the cover because MVP pulled Lashley towards the ropes. Riddle and MVP argued outside the ring as Orton snuck up from behind. Orton hit MVP with an RKO but walked into another Spear from Lashley in the ring for the pinfall victory. Lashley is still the WWE Champion.

After the match, Lashley Chokeslammed Orton through the announce table but somehow tweaked his knee while doing so. Big E made his way to the ring with the MITB briefcase and a referee followed him. Big E said it was time to cash in but Lashley pointed to his knee and claimed to be hurt. Lashley took a seat in the corner of the ring as RAW went to a break with only minutes left in the show.

When RAW returned, Big E slapped Lashley in the face and the match officially started. Lashley tackled Big E to the mat and then hit him with a Splash in the corner. Big E got out of the corner and hit a chop block. Big E went for the Big Ending but Lashley broke free. Lashley leveled Big E with a Spear and went for the cover but Big E kicked out at two. Big E then hit the Big Ending for the pinfall victory and won the WWE Championship. Big E celebrated with Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods as RAW went off the air.

Big E Cashes In Money In The Bank Contract To Win WWE Title On Raw

0

WWE booked Bobby Lashley defending the WWE Title on Monday’s episode of Raw against Randy Orton while also teasing that Big E would be looming to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase.

Earlier in the day, Big E announced on Twitter that not only would he be on Raw, but planned to cash in the contract to become WWE Champion.

This title match took place in the main event of the show from Boston, MA at the TD Garden. The match was back and forth with brawling on the outside of the ring. Down the stretch, they did some near falls. Orton hit an RKO to MVP on the floor. Lashley beat Orton with a spear. Post-match, Lashley attacked Riddle then put Orton through a table. Lashley was selling his left knee as if he had injured it.

This led to Big E coming out to cash in and did. After a commercial break and with 5 minutes left, the match started. Big E went after the knee of Lashley, who did get a near fall with a spear. Big E hit the Big Ending for the win.

This was a change of original plans as WWE had already confirmed Orton vs. Lashley in a WWE Title match taking place at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view event.

It’s been reported that the reason why WWE loaded up this show and moved Orton vs. Lashley from Extreme Rules to Raw was due to Vince McMahon responding to last week’s AEW Dynamite beating Raw in the key 18-49 demo for the first time ever.

WWE previously advertised Lashley and MVP getting a Raw Tag Team Title shot against Orton and Matt Riddle, but that was nixed. Also, WWE went up against Monday Night Football for the first time this season and the NFL is a ratings monster.

WWE Confirms Dates For This Year’s Draft

0

On Monday night during Raw, WWE confirmed when this year’s Draft will be taking place.

The Draft will be held over two shows in October as it will begin on the Friday, October 1 episode of SmackDown and continue on the Monday, October 4 episode of Raw.

WWE will hold the October 1 episode of SmackDown at Royal Farms Arena in Baltimore while the October 4 edition of Raw is being held at the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.

This episode of SmackDown will be the post-Extreme Rules edition of the show. WWE holds its next pay-per-view in Saudi Arabia. Crown Jewel is planned for Thursday, October 21 with Crown Jewel.

This marks the third straight year that the WWE Draft has taken place and the Draft was also held in October the previous two years. Despite the Draft, WWE did the Superstar Shake-ups in April 2017, 2018, and 2019.

Andrew Zarian of the Mat Men Pro Wrestling Podcast originally reported that this year’s Draft would take place on August 30th for Monday Night Raw and the second night on the September 3rd edition of Friday Night SmackDown. However, just like various things in WWE, plans changed.

Bronson Reed Isn’t A Fan Of Upcoming NXT Changes

0

Free agent Bronson Reed doesn’t have high hopes for the NXT revamp.

Reed was one of the 12 NXT names released from WWE. Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio reported that in Reed’s case, Vince McMahon made the call to cut him because he felt he wasn’t main roster material.

WWE is in the midst of changing the look and feel of NXT. They are calling it “NXT 2.0” and the new era begins on Sept. 14. Bronson Reed took to his JONAHDROME podcast and said he isn’t a fan of what he’s heard about the revamp.

“I’m not the biggest fan of the direction that I have heard they are going in with not actively seeking Independent wrestlers, only because I am a journeyman wrestler. I have nothing against the great athletes there that they have signed and will sign. It’s nothing that they’ve done. It’s the business itself. Someone like me that has loved (wrestling) his whole life, of course, I want to end up at the pinnacle of the sport. For a long time, everyone has thought that WWE is the be-all, end-all, but I don’t think it is anymore. More and more talent are realizing that there are other places to go. Other places where my talent will be more utilized.”

It’s been said that NXT will be a Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard production going forward. That report came from Bryan Alvarez of Figure Four Weekly. With Samoa Joe having to vacate the NXT Championship due to injury, a fatal four-way will determine the new titleholder.

Johnny Gargano’s WWE Contract Is Expiring Soon

0

Johnny Gargano joins the likes of Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn as notable WWE wrestlers in deciding what they’ll do about their futures in the company as their contracts are coming up soon.

Fightful Select reported today that Gargano’s contract is set to expire on December 3, 2021.  It was said that sources have indicated Gargano and WWE have not entered into negotiations to extend his contract, but that WWE “expected to” in the Fall.

This is not the same situation as to Adam Cole and Pete Dunne where their contracts coming due came as a surprise. Instead, they knew this was coming.

WWE  has reviewed many of the deals since the situation with wrestlers like Malakai Black who had 30-day non-competes instead of the traditional 90-day non-compete that most wrestlers are under when the company decides to end their agreement.

It was mentioned that Gargano’s deal is up roughly around the same time that Cole’s deal was supposed to be up. Thus, while WWE has yet to talk with Gargano, they will just like they had planned to do with Cole.

Gargano first started out as an enhancement talent in 2015 for WWE before he officially signed with the company in 2016. Since that time, he has held all titles available to him in NXT.

Former NJPW Ring Announcer Recovering From COVID-19

0

Kero Tanaka, who once served as the NJPW ring announcer, is recovering from a scary battle with COVID-19.

The 62-year-old had to be sent to the ICU on Aug. 8. One Color, Tanaka’s company, revealed that Tanaka has regained consciousness. He tested positive for COVID-19 back on July 31. Tanaka was receiving treatment at home but his symptoms worsened and he was sent to ICU.

Luckily for Tanaka, he was able to eventually breathe without a ventilator and can eat with support. He has even regained his ability to talk.

Yahoo! Japan reports that at one point, it appeared Tanaka’s life was in danger. His recovery is being described as “miraculous.”

Tanaka most recently appeared at the Wrestle Kingdom 14 show back in Jan. 2020. He served as a special ring announcer for Jushin “Thunder” Liger’s second-to-last match.

We at SEScoops.com wish Kero Tanaka a full and speedy recovery.

Gable Steveson Expects To Skip NXT Once He Debuts For WWE

0

Gable Steveson believes that he will end up going straight to the main roster in WWE.

Steveson is an Olympic gold medalist. He captured gold for the United States after a come-from-behind victory over Geno Petriashvili in freestyle wrestling.

Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported that WWE signed Steveson. The promotion later confirmed ESPN’s own report of the signing.

During an appearance on MMAFighting’s The MMA Hour, Steveson told Ariel Helwani that while he’d be open to an NXT run, he thinks he’ll be put on the main roster right away.

“There’s a very good chance that I go straight to the main roster and not go to NXT. I’m open for anything. With the way things are going, I think I’m going to jump straight to the main roster. I know there’s a lot to learn and I’m ready to soak everything in like a sponge and be ready to go out there and put on a good show for the crowd.”

Meltzer’s new report suggests Steveson could very well start with WWE full-time in May 2022.

Gable Steveson will be finishing up his collegiate career before heading to WWE. He said that the company had no issue with his plans.

“That never came up. I told them that I wanted to go back and finish school. Their number one priority was, ‘you can do that.’ Vince, Nick Khan, and Triple H all said, ‘Go win the National Title. Everything will still be in place for you. Get your degree and we’ll see you after that.’ Part of my deal is I can go on stage during my school time.”

Adam Cole Teases The Elite vs. Bullet Club Faction War

0

Adam Cole will face Frankie Kazarian in his first AEW match on Wednesday. Dynamite will take place from the Prudential Center in New Jersey this week. Cole spoke with the Asbury Park Press about the show.

“It’s so incredibly awesome that I’m getting to make my in-ring debut with AEW in that area,” Cole said. “To me, those fans have been some of the most passionate, some of the most excited, and some of the most dedicated that I have ever seen. The fact that I kind of cut my teeth in the Northeast area is something that those fans hold near and dear to them, and it’s something that I hold near and dear to me, too.”

Cole also teased a faction war between the Elite and Bullet Club could becoming to AEW soon. This has been teased in both Impact Wrestling and at the NJPW Resurgence PPV earlier this summer as well.

“I think there’s been tension with the Bullet Club over in Japan and the Elite here in AEW,” Cole said. “The history kind of speaks for itself, seeing the tension between the two teams and the two groups. So, ‘unfinished business’ I think would be an understatement. I think it’s very possible that at some point, me and the Elite are going to have to take care of some business.”

Kenny Omega, The Young Bucks, Adam Cole, Karl Anderson, and Doc Gallows were all members of Bullet Club before becoming members of the Elite. Cole joined the faction in May of 2016 but then left in 2017 when he was killed off on BTE. He won the ROH World Championship while a member of the faction as well.

Adam Cole On Wrestling’s “Forbidden Door”

Cole also spoke about his excitement about the Forbidden Door opportunities currently available in wrestling.

“I keep going back to imagining me as a fan,” Cole continued, “thinking that two promotions could collide and have the chance to have, say, Impact wrestlers come on AEW or New Japan Pro-Wrestling wrestlers come there and wrestle AEW stars — and that is just so exciting.”

Bullet Club vs The Elite

Over the summer, Bullet Club and members of the Elite have clashed on shows for both Impact and NJPW. On Impact Wrestling, Jay White arrived and inducted Chris Bey into Bullet Club. White got into a back and forth with Anderson and Gallows, however, as they requested White thank them for making Bullet Club the world-famous name that it is.

Anderson and Gallows were confronted by Tama Tonga and Tanga Loa at NJPW Resurgence, however. Anderson again said that the members of Bullet Club need to thank the Elite for putting the faction on the map but when the Guerrillas of Destiny came out to confront the team, Anderson and Gallows simply left the ring area.

Big E Says He’s Cashing In MITB Tonight On RAW

0

Big E doesn’t plan on having the element of surprise working in his favor when he cashes in his Money in the Bank briefcase. He announced on Twitter this afternoon that he plans on cashing in the briefcase tonight on RAW and becoming the new WWE Champion.

Tonight’s episode of RAW will emanate from the TD Garden in Boston. Bobby Lashley is scheduled to defend the WWE Championship against Randy Orton on the show. Other matches scheduled for tonight include Charlotte Flair vs Shayna Baszler in a non-title match, AJ Styles, Mace, Omos & T-BAR vs. Mansoor, Mustafa Ali & The New Day, Natalya vs Rhea Ripley and Damian Priest will defend the US title in an Open Challenge.

Big E spoke to Sports Illustrated recently about wanting to make the most of his opportunity to become a world champion.

“I have a different perspective than a Brock or a Cena, who’s trying to become a 17-time world champion. I’m trying to get one. It has a different feel, and I’m not saying those guys don’t want it, too, but this might be my only opportunity. So I’ll show up ready and make some noise. I don’t feel like I need another year to grow. The time is now.”

Bobby Fish Set to Debut for Major League Wrestling

0

Bobby Fish is headed to MLW. He will make his debut on October 2nd at the promotion’s Fightland event from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. Fish will be part of the Opera Cup tournament. He spoke to Sports Illustrated about his decision to sign with the company.

“I’m ready to jump in headfirst into MLW, especially with the Opera Cup,” Fish says. “I welcome this new challenge. I’m in a situation now where I have extra room for creativity with what you see in the ring. That’s what I’m here to push. MLW has some very talented athletes, and I’m excited to see how we mix it up.”

Already confirmed for the 8-man single-elimination tournament are Tom Lawlor, Davey Richards, TJP, Matt Cross, and Calvin Tankman. Tajiri is also booked for the show on October 2nd.

Fish recently wrestled his first match outside of WWE since being released yesterday. He wrestled for Pennsylvania Premiere Wrestling at PPW 8. Fish defeated Desean Pratt on the show.

Bobby Fish On His Time In NXT

Fish also spoke to Sports Illustrated about his time in NXT with the other members of the Undisputed Era.

“There were so many positives from time in NXT, and I was able to accomplish that with three of my best friends in the industry,” Fish says, referring to Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong. “It’s really humbling to think of all we did, and to experience that with them was very special. As for right now, having an extra chip on my shoulder now isn’t necessarily a bad thing for me at all.”

PCO Not Expected To Re-Sign With ROH

0

Pierre Carl-Oulette (PCO) is not expected to re-sign with Ring of Honor when his contract expires on November 30th, 2021. According to a report from the Wrestling Observer, he has given the company his notice and will be departing later this year.

PCO has been with the company since 2018. His last match was the Honor Rumble at last night’s Death Before Dishonor PPV from the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia. ROH also has television tapings today and tomorrow from Philadelphia that PCO is expected to take part in as well.

PCO is a former ROH World Champion, 1x 6-man tag-team champion along with Brody King and Marty Scurll, and also a former ROH tag team champion along with Brody King. Additionally, PCO and Brody King won the NWA’s Crockett Cup in 2019 along with the promotion’s tag-team titles.

Along with Jacques Rougeau, Oulette is a former 3x WWE tag team champion as 1/2 of the Quebecers. He’s also a former WCW Hardcore Champion.

Last night’s ROH PPV may be the last live show the company runs this year. They are, however, scheduled to film television today and tomorrow from the 2300 Arena. There are further tapings scheduled in Baltimore for November. The promotion is said to be taking things on a week-to-week basis concerning live crowds and the possibility of running another live event later this year.

Update On Samoa Joe & The New Direction For NXT

0

Samoa Joe has relinquished the NXT Championship due undisclosed injuries. Although Joe did promise to be back soon, Joe says WWE’s medical team would not clear him to compete or give him a solid timetable for a return. The situation involving Joe and the NXT Championship was recently addressed on Wrestling Observer Radio.

Joe surrendering the title reportedly has to do with him not being one of the talents is NXT will focus on moving forward. “It’s a weird story,” said Dave Meltzer. “Essentially, he’s still with the company but I don’t know if he’s going to be wrestling much.”

After being released from the main roster in the spring, Joe signed with NXT and was initially brought back as General Manager William Regal’s enforcer.

“The official thing that I was just told is that he was hired to be more of an administrator, more of a front office person than a wrestler, so that’s going to be his job.”

A revamped version of NXT will debut this Tuesday night on the USA Network. The new era will kick off with the vacated championship as a top storyline.

“The idea with NXT now is to develop stars for the future and Joe is in his 40s and is not the future. He’s going to be a coach and a trainer and things like that based on what I was told,” Meltzer continued.

Samoa Joe won the NXT Championship from Karrion Kross just a few weeks ago Takeover 36 during SummerSlam weekend.

Damian Priest On His Interactions With Mr. McMahon

0

While many WWE employees are afraid to confront Vince McMahon, Damian Priest is not one of them. The US champion actually claims his conversations with the boss to be very positive. The Archer of Infamy recently appeared on the Fightful podcast. He talked about things such as being a fan of archery in real life, owning more than one bow and arrow himself, and more.

When asked about his interactions with the chairman of the boards, Priest claimed that his conversations with Mr. McMahon have been positive so far:

“Positive to be honest. He knows what he wants for his show. He knows what he wants out of you. He’s been honest with me. He’ll tell me, ‘I need more of this, or I need more of that, or less of this.’ But, it’s always positive and he’ll explain to me why. So it’s like, ‘Oh, I get it.’

‘He Has A Wat Of Speaking People’

The former NXT champion went on to claim that Mr. McMahon has a special way of speaking to people. According to Damian Priest, one shouldn’t be in WWE if they don’t understand what he is saying:

“He has a way of speaking to people that if you don’t get it after he talks to you, you shouldn’t be here. So my interactions with him have been very positive. He seems like he likes me, so that’s a good thing.”

Apart from this, Damian Priest also discussed how he likes going back to NXT so he can help the newcomers while also learning things from Shawn Michaels and Triple H.

Adam Cole AEW Theme: Rukus talks influence behind the new song

0

New AEW signee Adam Cole made his debut with the company following the main event of the All Elite Wrestling All Out PPV event.

Cole appeared with a theme song that had elements of the Undisputed Era theme from NXT, however, AEW house musician Rukus would reveal that he did not take influence from the UE theme but instead Rage Against The Machine.

“I did not draw inspiration for Adam Coles new theme from the UE [Undisputed Era] theme,” Rukus wrote on social media. “I felt the Rage [Against the Machine] vibe really fit him. Calm Like A Bomb, but slower.

Rukus on Adam Cole AEW Theme

“He loved ‘Something For You,’ so I incorporated the drumbeat from the verses” Rukus continued. “The lyrical delivery was a combo of both of those songs.”

Rukus would also state that he was not trying to be derogatory when dismissing the Undisputed Era track as an influence. “I could have done a better job at wording this. This was not meant to be derogatory in any way shape or form.”

Adam Cole is set to have his first-ever AEW match this Wednesday at AEW Dynamite. The former leader of Undisputed Era will be taking on Frankie Kazarian, the man known in All Elite as the ‘Elite Hunter.’

Mark Henry On When He Realised It Was Time To Leave WWE

0

Mark Henry making his AEW debut came as a big surprise to many because the former champion had spent all of his wrestling career in WWE until earlier this year. The world’s strongest man recently appeared on Talk Is Jericho podcast. Among other things, he also detailed the circumstances leading up to his WWE departure.

Henry has previously explained how he wanted to get an executive position in the company and help young talent. During the talk, he explained the efforts he made to try and convince the top brass that he deserved the job:

“I spent months putting together a two year plan of events. I was like, ‘What else can I do?’ I called and said, ‘I’m going to start looking for work because I know what I can do well, and I don’t feel like I’m valued in that capacity.’”

Mark Henry then recalled how the answer to his request came from John Laurinaitis instead of Vince McMahon. This is when he knew that it was time to leave:

“When I got the no, it didn’t come from Vince or Brad Blum, it came from Johnny, who is an employee. It’s not his place to tell me no. If the dude has got delegated to somebody that is not their job to tell me, then it’s over. You have to know when the door has been closed.”

Mark Henry made his last WWE appearance during the Raw Legends Night on January 4 where he was humiliated by Randy Orton. He made his AEW debut during the Double Or Nothing PPV in May.

0

Ring of Honor star Jonathan Gresham lost his ROH Pure Championship over the weekend at the Death Before Dishonor PPV event.

Gresham lost the title to Josh Woods via pinfall after a back and forth contest on the card.

Speaking to WrestlingINC following the loss, Jonathan Gresham discussed how the Pure division is in ‘good hands’ with Woods going forward.

Jonathan Gresham on ROH Title Loss

“I’m deflated, to say the least, but the Pure Division is now in good hands with Josh Woods,” Gresham began. “I just have to figure out what I need to do next because my goal is still purifying this company.”

“I don’t necessarily think it needs to be thought about like that — the number one thing is keeping this company pure,” Gresham began. “The owner of the Pure Championship must believe in the pure way. As long as Josh Woods stays loyal to that idea, Ring of Honor will be okay.”

Gresham is set to face PROGRESS star Chris Ridgeway in an official ROH PURE Rules Match for Wrestle Carnival on October 9th. The full event will also be streaming to ROH Wrestling’s Week By Week.

It is not confirmed if Jonathan Gresham will remain in the Pure division of ROH or if he will be moving into the ROH Championship picture.

Adam Cole’s AEW Deal Wasn’t Made Official Until The Day Of All Out

0

While everyone expected Adam Cole to end up in AEW after his WWE contract expired, his new deal wasn’t made official until last minute according to latest reports.

According to reports from Fightful Select, the former NXT champion’s signing with Tony Khan’s promotion didn’t come as a surprise to people within WWE. Many within the company expected him to join the rival promotion.

The WWE officials were operating under the assumption that he was already as good as gone even before his contract expired. Though the people in the organization had nothing but positive things to say about the way Cole handled things on his way out.

The former NXT star had not told anyone in the Stamford-based corporation that he would be appearing at All Out. He was kept hidden before the PPV.

Another interesting tidbit is that Adam Cole’s AEW deal wasn’t made official until Sunday. Although people handling different aspects of his debut such as merchandise were informed about it ahead of time.

The former Undisputed Era leader made his surprise AEW debut at the All Out PPV on September 5. He first teased going against Kenny Omega and the others but has since turned heel and joined his friends of the Elite.

Reason Why The WWE Championship Match Was Moved To Raw

0

Moving the WWE championship match between Bobby Lashley and Randy Orton to Raw was apparently WWE officials’ response to AEW’s recent success.

Dave Meltzer talked about this change on the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. He explained how the big title match was moved to weekly television from the PPV event because WWE lost to AEW in 18-49 demo:

“They pulled the match because they lost in the ratings and they’re putting Randy Orton and Bobby Lashley, the pay-per-view main event on TV tomorrow night. Yea, that’s among the responses [to AEW]. I’m not surprised.”

Meltzer also mentioned how the original plans were for RK-Bro to defend the Raw tag team championship against Bobby Lashley and MVP. They spent last week’s episode of Raw building this match only for it to be changed.

Lashley and MVP had won a tag team turmoil match on Raw to earn the right to face the current Raw tag team champions this Monday. Randy Orton had been announced to challenge the All-Mighty for WWE championship at Extreme Rules.

While the latest episode of Monday Night Raw still garnered more viewers than Dynamite overall, AEW’s show was able to beat WWE’s red brand in the 18-49 demographic for the first time.

Reports suggested that the WWE officials held meetings after Dynamite’s victory over Raw. Now it has been confirmed that the title match was shifted from the PPV as a result of the TV ratings.

Was Death Before Dishonor ROH’s Final Live Show Of 2021? (Report)

0

Death Before Dishonor has wrapped up, and it may have been the final live show of 2021 for ROH.

The event took place inside the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia, PA. In the main event, Bandido put the ROH World Championship on the line against Brody King, EC3, and Demonic Flamita in a four-way elimination match. Also on the card was the finals of the ROH Women’s Championship tournament between Rok-C and Miranda Alize.

Death Before Dishonor has garnered praise from fans, and those who were in attendance are quite lucky. A report from PWInsider reveals that this may have been ROH’s final live show of 2021. ROH was initially set to run several house shows this fall but that has been tabled due to the Delta variant of COVID-19.

ROH is set for more TV tapings inside the 2300 Arena this coming Monday and Tuesday. The promotion is then set for TV tapings this November in Baltimore.

The report noted that ROH is playing things by ear when it comes to live crowds so there is a small chance that another show in front of a live audience could take place before the year is out. It’s been said that the company is taking things on a “week-to-week basis.”

Deonna Purrazzo Says She Considered Quitting Wrestling After NXT Run

0

Deonna Purrazzo had such a bad experience during her run with WWE that the former NXT star had seriously considered quitting the wrestling business altogether after being released from the promotion. The Impact Knockouts champion recently appeared on Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette. She talked about her wrestling career in detail including her time in NXT.

Opening up about how she felt upon her release from the promotion, Purrazzo said that she was emotionally drained. She revealed that she had started thinking about quitting the business to lead a normal life:

“I was just kind of emotionally drained from wrestling, that environment and that system just really didn’t work for me as a person. I was just very much, ‘this is such b******t! This is not what I love about wrestling.

When I was fired, I had contemplated going back to school a whole bunch.” said Deonna Purrazzo, “and I was like, ‘okay, I’m definitely going to go back to school.’ So I immediately sent in applications to different schools that were online, and I was like, ‘maybe I’ll just be a normal person again.’”

What Deonna Purrazzo Would Have Done After Quitting

The Impact wrestling star also talked about what she was planning for herself after her release. According to her, she had contemplated becoming a full-time teacher:

“I am really, just a big history buff. So when I was released in May, that was the first thing. ‘I’m going to go to school and I’m going to be a history teacher maybe!’”

Deonna Purrazzo was released from her WWE contract in April 2020, after wrestling only 16 televised matches in her two-year-long stint. The female star thankfully didn’t quit wrestling and she has since returned to Impact where she is in her second reign as the Impact Knockouts champion.

Becky Lynch Hopes To Be Bigger Than The Rock

0

Becky Lynch is already one of the biggest stars in the pro wrestling industry but she is not satisfied with her position yet and she wants to be even bigger than the great one himself, The Rock.

The SmackDown women’s champion recently spoke to New York Daily. She talked about many things and also addressed the rumors that she was trying to break into movies before her pregnancy.

While she didn’t provide much detail, Lynch hinted that there are some projects ‘in the works’, before claiming that she wants to be even bigger than the people’s champion:

“I hope I can be bigger than The Rock and better than The Rock. The Rock is a good friend. The Rock is a great friend, but I’m on a different path and I’m different than The Rock and I’m not trying to be the next anybody. I’m the first Becky Lynch.”

Becky Lynch also commented on the reports about her character change after her return. She mentioned how everybody thinks she turned heel because of the way she defeated Bianca Belair at SummerSlam.

However, according to The Man, she doesn’t really understand the talk about being a heel. The current champion explained that she hasn’t changed and instead, she has just gotten smarter.

The star now going by the name Anthony Henry took part in the AEW Dark tapings over the weekend. He commented on his experience via Twitter and claimed that everything positive he had heard about the company was true:

AEW Planning A Major Rematch Between Thunder Rosa And Britt Baker (Report)

0

AEW women’s champion Britt Baker and Thunder Rosa received a lot of praise for their lights-out unsanctioned match earlier this year. It appears AEW is looking to capitalize on that buzz with a rematch between the two.

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the company officials are planning a ‘major’ rematch between these two female stars.

AEW has discussed various potential stipulations for this bout between Rosa and Baker. Discussion range from a cage match to a hair vs. hair match with the idea to build it as the biggest women’s match in the promotion’s history.

Though the rematch is not expected to take place anytime this year. Per the report, this mega rematch will likely take place sometime in early 2022.

Thunder Rosa and Britt Baker were the first female stars to main event AEW Dynamite when they competed in the unsanctioned lights out match during the St. Patrick’s Day Slam special of the show on March 17, 2021.

Their match was every bit as extreme as any other unsanctioned match in AEW history. The bout was universally praised and both the stars were given credit for breaking down sexist assumptions about women in hardcore matches.
