World Title Match Will Close Tonight’s All Out PPV

We are just hours away from AEW All Out. It’s a stacked card and internal estimates already indicate that it will shatter the company’s all-time pay-per-view record.

People have been wondering which match will close the show. Fans with a traditiona, “old-school” mentality feel the World title match should headline big events. However, All Out will feature CM Punk’s first match in over 7 years. A case could be made that CM Punk’s return is the main attraction and should be the final match.

That debate has been settled. According to Dave Meltzer, Kenny Omega’s AEW World Title defense against Christian Cage will go on last at All Out.

CM Punk to AEW Haters: “We Don’t Need You, So STFU”

CM Punk addressed the crowd at the conclusion of the latest episode of AEW Dark.

As Jurassic Express was hanging in the ring after their match, Cult of Personality hit and Punk headed tot he ring. He grabbed a microphone and said he thinks it’s super cool how involved the audience is. They sing wrestlers’ entrance songs, they’re chanting AEW and it’s an amazing party-like atmosphere. “It helps, it really does,” said Punk.

Punk said he’s been tasked with “sending the crowd happy” and led the crowd to sing the ‘Golden Girls’ theme song.

Last week in Milwaukee, he addressed an AEW crowd and told them, if you enjoyed the show, great, tell your friends about it. If you didn’t enjoy the show, “shut the F up.”

He wanted to clarify what he meant by that. He doesn’t mind criticism. In fact, he welcomes criticism, because that’s feedback on how they can improve. However, there is a segment of wrestling fans who are negative for the sake of being negative.

“The part about shutting the f–k up is for the people who hate watch stuff and have nothing good to say, or nothing good to add to the conversation. We don’t need you, so shut the f–k up.”

CM Punk wants Sunday’s All Out pay-per-view to be like a “gigantic party” that makes people wish they were there in person.

“At the end of the day, ya’ll are our bosses,” Punk added. “If you’re not having a good time, please let us know. But if you like what you see, you let us know and we’ll give you all that we have. So, sing those songs, cheer for these guys, boo for the ones you don’t like. And if you don’t like it…”

Olympic Gold medalist Kurt Angle spoke with Nick Hausman this past week for the Wrestling Inc Daily podcast. They discussed a variety of current events, including AEW’s popularity and reports that Bryan Danielson will soon be All Elite.

Kurt Angle was one of the top Superstars during the Attitude Era, a time when WWE attracted young adults in droves. In recent years, WWE has toned down the product and is geared to be more family-friendly. Angle thinks that AEW is gaining ground with the demographic that brought WWE monster success twenty years ago.

“WWE are losing the young adults,” said Angle. “The 18 to 40 years olds that WWE had during the Attitude Era, that’s more the way AEW’s direction is right now. They’re swearing on the air, they’re putting up the middle fingers. It’s more of an Attitude Era attitude.”

Angle also commented on the rumor that Bryan Danielson will be joining AEW in the near future. Angle says he’s very surprised by this development and never thought WWE would let him go.

“Daniel was a big part of the company for the past ten or so years,” said Angle. “He was literally the top babyface in the company for a few years, so, I’m really surprised they let him go. But Daniel is probably happier in AEW for whatever reason. I don’t know if it was money or if he wasn’t happy with the direction of his character, but it had to be something that made him leave.”

As of this writing, Bryan Danielson remains a free agent and has not yet appeared for All Elite Wrestling.

PROGRESS Wrestling held their Chapter 120 event this weekend on Peacock, WWE Network and demandPROGRESS.

Total Protonic Reversals featured a PROGRESS Tag Team Championship match between Lykos Gym & Greedy Souls as well as the second match in PROGRESS for Doug Williams since coming out of retirement, again against Chris Ridgeway.

Ridgeway was called out by Williams at the last Chapter show and the former X Division Champion requested that Smash Mouth’s #1 Contendership for the PROGRESS World Title be put on the line.

Ridgeway accepted, and the winner of the match would be solidified as the #1 contender to Cara Noir and his PROGRESS World Championship.

Dan Moloney was also back in action against British wrestling veteran Jody Fleisch, as well as Gene Munny in singles action taking on LK Mezinger.

New AEW signee CM Punk recently appeared on WFAN’s Moose & Maggie. The straight edge star discussed several topics during the interview, including his wife AJ Lee and her potential return to pro wrestling.

Although CM Punk did previously say that there’s no chance of the former WWE Divas Champion returning, he would “love” to see it.

“I would love to see it,” Punk began, “I get asked that question every single time I do an interview and I love it. I absolutely love it, I don’t (think she wants to do it), because she’s a teeny tiny person and she has a bad neck.”

“So I think the shelf life for females in wrestling, wrestling a full schedule, is a lot shorter, it’s a lot smaller than men” Punk continued. “And I think she’s so focused on what she’s doing now, writing screenplays.”

“She’s working on a million different projects, being pulled in so many directions. I think she would probably, maybe be receptive to the idea of coming back, but that can’t even enter her vocabulary right now. She’s so focused on the movie scripts and TV adaptation of a book she’s working on” Punk concluded.

Jon Moxley Surprises Matt Cardona to Win GCW Heavyweight Title

GCW Art of War Games concluded with yet another surprise appearance by AEW star Jon Moxley. Only this time, Mox walked out as the new GCW Heavyweight champion.

Just moments before, Matt Cardona had defended his title in a short match against Frank the Clown after laying down an open challenge. However, he was soon confronted by G-Raver and several druids. Initially, nothing happened, and one by one everybody left the ring. All except for one druid. After hitting a Paradigm Shift on Cardona, Jon Moxley revealed himself to the delight of the crowd.

Mox hit a second Paradigm Shift onto some light tubes and promptly picked up the win and got his hands on the GCW title. The victory marks his first title for GCW and re-ignites a long-running feud with former champion and king of the deathmatches, Nick Gage.

Jon Moxley’s victory ended Matt Cardona’s GCW champion reign after just 42 days.  Mox is a popular figure with the GCW crowd but ending the run of Cardona cemented him as a hero in their eyes.

Jon Moxley and Nick Gage Set for October 9th in Atlantic City

After the victory, Jon Moxley was soon confronted by Nick Gage. The pair squared off nose-to-nose, reigniting the feud that began to boil earlier this year. It didn’t take long for the match to be made. October 9th at the GCW event in Atlantic City, Jon Moxley will face Nick Gage for the title.

Moxley cut an intense promo shortly after leaving the ring, which will bring chills to the arms of any wrestling fan.

Nick Gage will be eager to get his hands on Mox as well as a third title reign as the leader of GCW. Likewise, Jon Moxley will be eager to build a successful title reign in a promotion geared around his style of wrestling.

Don West: My Cancer Is Now In Remission

Former TNA Wrestling color commentator Don West has received some fantastic news.

Back in June, West revealed that he was diagnosed with brain cancer. A GoFundMe page was set up to help West with medical bills. At the time of his announcement, West said he was hoping chemotherapy would work.

“I am praying the chemotherapy will help me heal faster and hopefully I’ll be back on the radio soon. I can’t wait until this is all over and I can be back with you all again, I love you all!”

West has now taken to his Twitter account to reveal the chemotherapy and radiation treatments have led to his cancer being in remission.

“I want to give everyone an update. After 8 weeks of chemotherapy and 13 treatments of radiation, my cancer is now in remission Thank you for everyone’s prayers because they truly worked. I look forward to getting back on the radio doing what I love.”

Don West had served as a commentator in TNA Wrestling along with Mike Tenay. Once his role in the booth came to an end, he served as a spokesperson for ShopTNA. West was praised for his energetic style and respect for the wrestling business.

AEW: Julia Hart Out Of Women’s Casino Battle Royale, Replacement Set

Julia Hart no longer has a spot in the All Out Casino Battle Royale.

Hart was going to be one of the participants in the match on Sept. 5. Plans have changed. On the pre-All Out edition of AEW Dark, Hart was attacked by Nyla Rose and Jade Cargill backstage. Nyla placed a chair on Hart’s leg and Jade stomped on it, so AEW is running an injury angle to explain Hart’s removal.

“BREAKING: AEW doctors won’t clear Julia Hart to compete in tomorrow’s Casino Battle Royale due to the injuries from this attack by Nyla Rose and Jade Cargill
earlier on AEW Dark.”

Hart has been replaced by Skye Blue, who wrestled Red Velvet in a losing effort on AEW Dark. Tony Khan made his way out to announce that Blue will be entering the match this Sunday night.

Eddie Kingston believes that CM Punk has his smile back.

Punk made his return to the wrestling industry after being away for seven years. The self-proclaimed “Best in the World” left WWE in early 2014. Punk returned on the Aug. 20 edition of AEW Rampage.

Kingston spoke to Inside The Ropes and gave his take on Punk’s return to the wrestling business under the AEW banner.

“I found out because you hear whispers. Certain people who have certain stroke and control were also into the whispers and it’s like, ‘Oh, it’s happening.’ Without them telling me it was happening, it was, ‘Oh, it’s happening.’ I got super excited. I first met Punk when I was 21 when he came to CHIKARA for a special seminar. He’s one of the rare guys that has a name that the name brings people in. Nowadays, it’s AEW, that name or WWE, that name or NWA, that name.

“When you put CM Punk, you’re coming for CM Punk. He’s become an old-school name. I love that he’s here. When I look in his eyes, I see old Punk. I see someone who is hungrier and happier. Mentally, in his eyes, I can see he’s in a better place than he was when I saw him while he was with WWE in the end. I ran into him and he didn’t seem like himself. Now, he seems better than himself. That’s good for the locker room because a lot of people can learn from him. That’s good for AEW because a lot of people are going to come and tune in now and they’re going to see everybody and not just him. People coming to see Punk is good for the company. Also, it’s fun. Why do something when it’s not fun? This is fun. I’m living a dream and having him here to help with that dream, selfishly, is amazing.”

Punk is set to have his first match since Jan. 2014. He will go one-on-one with Darby Allin this Sunday night (Sept. 5). The match will be featured on the All Out PPV card inside the Now Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois.

Olympic Gold Medalist Gable Steveson Signs With WWE

WWE has reportedly signed Olympic Gold Medalist and NCAA Champion Gable Steveson.

After months of speculation as to where he might land, Steveson has signed with WWE, via Dave Meltzer. Earlier in the day, he tweeted, “Just put pen to paper…”

Gable Steveson recently appeared at SummerSlam along with another Olympic Gold Medalist wrestler, Tamyra Mensah-Stock. Mensah-Stock has said it is her dream to become a WWE Superstar.

Steveson’s younger brother Bobby was also recently announced as being part of the latest class of recruits at the WWE Performance Center.

Gable Steveson: Paul Heyman Guy

Steveson has said that if he goes to WWE, he hopes to be the next “Paul Heyman Guy.”

“If I ever go to WWE, I’d be a ‘Paul Heyman Guy,’ ” said Steveson to Sports Illustrated last month. “Heyman is a legend. We’d be two people doing great things, and that would be a tough team to beat.”

Steveson has also trained with fellow University of Minnesota alumni, Brock Lesnar.

“And I’ve known Brock since I was in high school. He’s been there for me for a long time, making sure I do things the right way and put my best foot forward.”

CM Punk Says WWE Reached Out To Him In December

According to comments CM Punk made to ESPN’s Marc Raimondi, WWE reached out to Punk in December through intermediaries. This occurred shortly after Punk had removed himself from the UFC’s USADA drug-testing pool.

“Punk said WWE had been reaching out to him about a return as well, through intermediaries,” Raimondi wrote. Punk continued to say that while he listened to WWE’s overtures, things did not advance far.

“I remember one of the first things I ever said to them was, ‘Above all, don’t play games,'” Punk said. “And they played games. Some things never change. … When you enter a conversation with people you have a past with and you know who they are, how seriously can you take it? I know exactly who they are and they just continue to prove it. I’m trying to be as diplomatic as I possibly can.”

Punk made several comments about his former employer (without referring to them by name) during his appearance at the First Dance last month. Punk then spoke about his comments regarding WWE during an appearance on The Angi Taylor Show.

“The reality is you can’t talk to me, coming back after seven years, without bringing up the place I used to work,” Punk said. “I’m just trying to do my best to not sling mud so to speak because everything I say about them is 100% the truth.”

Punk will take on Darby Allin tomorrow at All Out. It will be his first official match in over 7.5 years. The show will take place from the NOW Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. The arena was formerly known as the Sears Center and was the venue of All In on September 1st, 2018.

First Look at the “New NXT” Premiering September 14th

NXT will return to live-airing shows on Tuesday, September 14th, 2021. According to promotional footage released by, the “New NXT” will debut that night.

A video aired on Smackdown and was shared on WWE’s official YouTube page which teases a new look inside the Capitol Wrestling Center.

The only segment scheduled for the show thus far is a wedding between Dexter Lumis and Indi Hartwell.

A report from the Wrestling Observer recently stated that while Vince McMahon and Bruce Prichard will play a larger role with NXT, they will not be producing the weekly show.

“There was a meeting with talent and staff where they were told the stories of McMahon and Prichard directly producing the weekly television show is incorrect,” wrote Dave Meltzer. 

He would continue to say, however, that several key decisions regarding the brand are now being made by upper WWE management.

“The new logo came from WWE with no input from the NXT people and it’s when it comes to the future of NXT and its rebranding, it’s said the people making the decision, on their own, are the likes of Vince McMahon, Nick Khan, John Laurinaitis, Kevin Dunn, and Bruce Prichard,” Meltzer continued. 

Brock Lesnar Announced For WWE Super SmackDown

WWE has confirmed that Brock Lesnar will make his return to television next week on the Super Smackdown from Madison Square Garden. The news broke on Smackdown last night as Paul Heyman informed Roman Reigns that Lesnar will be on the show.

A 4th singles match between Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar appears to be on the horizon. Their previous 3 singles matches all took place in 2018. Lesnar defeated Reigns at WrestleMania 34 and then again a few weeks later in a steel cage match at the Greatest Royal Rumble in Saudi Arabia. Reigns then finally defeated Lesnar at SummerSlam 2018.

Lesnar and Reigns have also been involved in 3 multi-person matches as opponents as well. At WrestleMania 31, their singles match got changed to a triple threat when Seth Rollins cashed in his MITB briefcase and won the title. Reigns won a triple threat match against Lesnar and Dean Ambrose at Fastlane 2016 and Lesnar won a fatal 4-way at SummerSlam 2017 against Reigns, Braun Strowman, and Samoa Joe.

Lesnar and Reigns are the two longest-reigning Universal Champions in history. Lesnar has held the title for 686 combined days across 3 reigns. Reigns has held the title 431 days across two title reigns.

The Acclaimed Perform “Scripted Rap” During Dark Tapings

Max Caster made his return to AEW after about a month away during last night’s AEW show at the NOW arena. The Acclaimed came out for their usual entrance only this time Max Caster let everyone know that his rap had “been approved by AEW management.” He read the lines from a script.

“Yo, this rap has been approved by AEW management,” Caster began. “We’re the Acclaimed and we came to say that we’re feeling pretty darn good today.
These two guys are formidable opponents but against us, they don’t have the components. How about the Jaguars? They sure are great…”

At this point, Anthony Bowens grabbed the microphone from Caster and called for the music to be turned off.

“Are they scripting our promos now, Max?”

Bowens then read from the scripted rap as well and plugged the Rhodes to the Top reality show. Eventually, the team tore up the script and continued with their usual entrance. Footage of the Acclaimed’s entrance can be viewed in the Tweet below:

According to a report from the Wrestling Observer, Caster was sent to sensitivity classes following a rap of his on Dark being deemed offensive.

“After what happened last week and the fallout, Max Caster has been sent to sensitivity training,” wrote Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 16 To Be A 3-Night Event

New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced that Wrestle Kingdom in January will be a 3-night event next year. The event will take place on January 4th and 5th from the Tokyo Dome and then on January 8th from the Yokohama Arena. The announcement was made during the intermission of today’s Wrestle Grand Slam event.

Wrestle Kingdom History

While there have been 15 Wrestle Kingdom events in the Tokyo Dome dating back to 2007, there has been an annual Tokyo Dome show in the venue on January 4th dating back to 1992. The Super Warriors in the Tokyo Dome show in 1992 was a joint show with WCW that featured Sting and the Great Muta taking on the Steiner Brothers. Riki Choshu also defeated Tatsumi Fujinami on the show.

The first Wrestle Kingdom event in 2007 saw Keiji Mutoh and Masahiro Chono defeat Tencozy (Hiroyoshi Tenzan and Satoshi Kojima). In 2020, Wrestle Kingdom expanded to two nights. Tetsuya Naito won both heavyweight titles by defeating Kazuchika Okada on Night 2 that year. Kota Ibushi won both belts after defeating Jay White on Night 2 of Wrestle Kingdom last year.

Wrestle Kingdom in 2022 will be the 31st consecutive year New Japan has presented a big show on January 4th.

AEW Rampage aired from the NOW Arena in Chicago. It was the final show before All Out this Sunday night on PPV. Darby Allin squared off against Daniel Garcia in the main event. CM Punk joined commentary for the match. Eddie Kingston confronted TNT Champion Miro tonight ahead of their match at the PPV. PAC versus Andrade El Idolo was announced for next week’s episode of Rampage.

Malakai Black Dominated, Will Face Dustin Rhodes On Dynamite

Malakai Black squared off against Lee Johnson in the first match of the night. Lee and Malakai traded strikes to start off the action. Malakai took control and beat Lee down int he corner. Johnson tried to battle back but Malakai knocked him down with a running elbow to the face as Rampage went to a commercial break.

When Rampage returned, Lee Johnson connected with a Crossbody but Malakai battled back with an Arm Drag. Black connected with a running kick to Lee’s face in the corner and unloaded some strikes to the midsection. Malakai grabbed a steel chair and brought it into the ring.

Malakai placed the chair next to Lee Johnson and told him to have his revenge. Black turned his back as Lee made his way to his feet. Malakai leveled Lee with a spinning heel kick (Black Mass) for the pinfall victory.

Black added insult to injury and disrespectfully put his boot on Lee’s face after the match. Dustin Rhodes rushed the ring and Malakai exited. Malakai and Dustin talked some trash to each other to end the segment. Mark Henry interviewed Dustin backstage and he challenged Malakai Black to a match on Wednesday’s episode of Dynamite. Dustin said that Malakai has brought the element of surprise and darkness to AEW. Dustin shouted that he thrives in darkness and will show Malakai what “The Natural” is all about on Wednesday.

Eddie Kingston Sent A Message To Miro Heading Into All Out

TNT Champion Miro cut a promo on this week’s episode of Rampage. Miro said Eddie Kingston is tough and has a loud mouth but took a charity contract into AEW. He stated that he is not in the charity business and a life without a struggle makes you soft. Miro added that Eddie has become soft and nothing but a bad boy for Jon Moxley.

Kingston interrupted and the crowd chanted his name. Eddie said it was bullshit that Miro is God’s favorite champion. Kingston added that he doesn’t believe in Miro’s God, but if he was real, he has sent Eddie here because Miro is a sinner. Kingston said that every move in his arsenal is targeted towards Miro’s weakness. Miro challenged Eddie to a fight but rolled out of the ring. Eddie chased after him and Miro hit him with the TNT Championship.

Miro rolled Eddie into the ring and put the title across his face. Miro went to stomp on it but Eddie got out of the way. Kingston planted Miro with a DDT and smirked at the camera. Miro will defend the TNT Championship against Eddie Kingston at All Out this Sunday.

Kris Statlander def. Jamie Hayter & Rebel

Rebel and Jamie Hayter faced Kris Statlander in a Handicap Match on this week’s Rampage. Britt Baker was ringside and will defend her AEW Women’s Championship against Statlander this Sunday at All Out. Hayter and Statlander locked up in the middle of the ring to begin the action.

The two shoved each other around the ring and to the corner before locking up again in the middle of the ring. Jamie went for a Headlock but Statlander shoved her away. Kris unloaded some forearms to the face but Rebel interfered. Jamie bounced Statlander’s face off the middle turnbuckle and tagged in Rebel. They then took turns beating down Statlander in the corner of the ring.

Rebel connected with a Suplex for a two count. Statlander connected with a Powerslam and then slammed Hayter on top of Rebel. Kris hit some running kicks on Jamie and Rebel in opposite corners of the ring. Statlander tripped them up and hit a Senton on Rebel for a near fall.

Kris launched Jamie out of the ring but Rebel sent her to the corner. Rebel went for a Splash but Statlander got out of the way. Statlander lifted Rebel up in the Electric Chair and then somehow caught Hayter at the same time as she attempted a Crossbody. Statlander slammed them both to the mat and got Rebel in a modified Boston Crab for the submission victory. Rebel and Jamie set up for an attack after the match but Red Velvet rushed the ring for the save.

Darby Allin Picked Up A Win & Had A Stare Down With CM Punk To Close The Show

Darby Allin squared off against Daniel Garcia in the main event of this week’s Rampage. CM Punk joined commentary for the match and will battle Darby Allin at All Out this Sunday. Before the match, Mark Henry interviewed Darby Allin, Daniel Garcia and 2point0. Garcia said he wanted to prevent the CM Punk and Darby Allin match from happening. Darby Allin vowed to knock Garcia on his ass and look CM Punk in the eye one more time before All Out. Punk noted that it was almost clobbering time and did a quick stage dive into the crowd.

Darby Allin stared at CM Punk before making his way to the ring with Sting. Jericho joked that we are a little disappointed that Punk wasn’t wearing his sport coat tonight on commentary. Allin shoved Garcia to the corner of the ring and the two started smacking each other in the face.

Allin tackled Daniel to the mat and sent him out of the ring. Allin punched Daniel in the face and charged at him but Garcia got out of the way. Darby crashed over a table and into the barricade as Sting battled with 2point0. Garcia launched Darby into the steel steps and rolled him back into the ring.

Darby went for a submission hold but Garcia rolled out of the ring. Allin stomped on Garcia’s arm against the steel steps and the action returned to the ring. Daniel booted Darby in the face and slammed him to the mat. Allin choked Garcia against the ropes and climbed to the top turnbuckle. Garcia crotched Darby on the turnbuckle and joined him on the top rope. Daniel connected with a massive Superplex and went for the cover but Allin kicked out at two as Rampage went to a final commercial break.

Back from the break, Garcia was still in control and sent Allin to the corner. Garcia booted Darby in the face several times but Allin got fired up. Darby hit some punches but Garcia knocked him back to the mat with a Clothesline. Allin connected with an uppercut but Garcia applied a chokehold. Daniel let go of the hold before the count of five and Allin fell to the canvas.

Allin slammed Garcia into the turnbuckle and hit him with some elbows to the face. Garcia got the chokehold on again in the middle of the ring. The crowd got behind Darby as he powered to his feet. Darby climbed to the middle rope with Garcia on his back and broke the hold with a Coffin Drop. The referee started counting but both wrestlers made it up in time and the match continued.

Darby unloaded some punches but Garcia responded with a chop to the chest. Allin hit the Pepsi Twist and CM Punk clapped and noted that Darby did better than he ever did. Allin hit Code Red for a near fall as CM Punk said he needed to avoid that move on Sunday. Darby locked in a submission and transitioned into a pin for the victory. 2point0 attacked Sting and Darby after the match.

Sting sent Garcia over the barricade but 2point0 was still attacking Darby. CM Punk marched down the entrance ramp and 2point0 started backing away. Allin took them both out with a Suicide Dive and stared at CM Punk outside the ring to end the show.

WWE SmackDown aired live from the Vystar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. Roman Reigns defended the Universal Championship against Finn Balor in the main event.

Street Profits vs. The Usos Ended In A DQ, Brock Lesnar Called Paul Heyman

Street Profits faced The Usos in a Championship Contender’s match. If Street Profits picked up the win, they would get a future match against The Usos for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships.

Dawkins connected with a Dropkick and followed it up with a Splash in the corner. Montez Ford tagged in and hit a Dropkick of his own on Jimmy. Jey hopped in the ring and walked into another Dropkick. The Usos rolled out of the ring and Montez went for a Crossbody but they caught him. Jimmy and Jey slammed Montez into the barricade as SmackDown went to a commercial break.

When SmackDown returned, Ford connected with an Enziguri as Dawkins pleaded for a tag. Jimmy tagged in and sent Montez to the corner. Uso charged but Montez hopped out of the way and Jimmy crashed into the ring post as Paul Heyman and Reigns were shown watching backstage.

Dawkins tagged in and got hit with an Engizuri. Dawkins hit the Annointment and Montez followed it up with a Frog Splash. Montez went for the cover but Jey broke it up at two. A brawl broke out and the referee ended the match in a DQ. Montez Ford flipped onto The Usos after the match and Street Profits posed on top of the announce table. Roman Reigns was shown backstage watching as The Usos stumbled to their feet. Reigns told Heyman to bring him his cousins and Paul exited the locker room.

Paul Heyman was interviewed by Kayla Braxton backstage. Heyman’s phone went off and his ring tone was Brock Lesnar’s theme. It went off again and Heyman answered. Paul added that the timing was a little off right now but he will deliver the message. Heyman went to say something but he was hung up on. Paul bumped into a man dressed as a janitor and told him that he can start with Kayla if he wants to take out the trash. The man as revealed to be Big E and he laughed in Paul’s face while holding up the MITB briefcase.

Later on the show, Paul Heyman informed Roman Reigns that Brock Lesnar called him tonight and will be in Madison Square Garden next week on SmackDown. Roman Reigns wondered if Brock was here tonight as well.

Becky Lynch vs. Bianca Belair Title Match Set For Extreme Rules

SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch made her way to the ring to a great pop from the crowd.

Becky noted that she didn’t get any “you deserve it!” chants when she returned and the crowd began to chant it. Lynch noted how she was interrupted by the entire SmackDown women’s locker room and called Bianca Belair the most athletic woman in WWE. Lynch wondered how she was being portrayed as the bad guy when she saved Bianca’s match at SummerSlam when Sasha Banks couldn’t compete.

Lynch added that Belair doesn’t get to cry because she wasn’t ready for the match and that Bianca cannot fake experience. Becky added that Belair’s lack of experience was why it only took one flick of her wrist to end Bianca’s title reign. Belair interrupted that he hasn’t heard Belair complain once about losing the title too fast.

Belair said that the championship was more to her than just a title, it was a part of her for 132 days and etched her in history. Bianca noted how she had accomplished so much but lost it in 26 seconds. Belair added that she was embarrassed about it but will stand in it because that is her truth. Bianca stated that she will never pick herself up by dragging someone else down and that Becky shouldn’t be talking about her like she knows her. Belair vowed to become the SmackDown Women’s Champion again and the greatEST.

Bianca suggested that Becky do the same thing as Roman Reigns and defend her title tonight since she is doing all this talking. The crowd chanted “yes!” before an “EST!” chant broke out for Belair. Lynch paced around the ring and said she doesn’t give a damn what Roman Reigns does. Becky declined the challenge and walked away while raising the title.

Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville informed Becky Lynch that she will be defending the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair at Extreme Rules. The contract signing will be on SmackDown next week in Madison Square Garden. Lynch wasn’t thrilled about the news.

Boogs Picked Up A Win, Toni Storm Appeared

Dolph Ziggler faced Rick Boogs tonight. Before the match, Dolph Ziggler hit on Toni Storm backstage but Toni wasn’t interested and told him that she was rooting for Boogs tonight. Robert Roode and Intercontinental Champion Shinsuke Nakamura were ringside for the match.

Boogs controlled the action early but Dolph battled back with a DDT for a near fall. Ziggler went for a Superkick but Boogs blocked it. Boogs hit a Pumphandle Slam for the pinfall victory.

Edge Challenged Rollins To A Match Next Week

Cesaro faced Seth Rollins tonight in a rematch from WrestleMania. Rollins said that he found what led Edge to victory over him at SummerSlam. Seth claimed that he was going to use that information to defeat Cesaro tonight.

Cesaro dominated early and caught Rollins with a Dropkick. Cesaro slammed Seth into the barricade and rolled him back into the ring. Rollins connected with a Dropkick and then a chop to Cesaro’s chest. Cesaro followed it up with a Dropkick of his own and then went for the swing but Seth escaped. Rollins booted Cesaro in the midsection and hit a DDT for a two count as SmackDown went to a commercial break.

When SmackDown returned, Rollins was in control and hit a Buckle Bomb for a two count. Seth went for a Neckbreaker but Cesaro blocked it with an uppercut. Rollins hit the Edge-o-Matic for a two count. Rollins went for the Stomp but Cesaro countered with a massive Powerbomb.

Cesaro hit a massive Clothesline and Graves gave a tribute to Brodie Lee/Luke Harper with a “yeah yeah yeah”. Cesaro followed it up with the Swing and locked in a Sharpshooter but Seth quickly reached the ropes. Rollins attacked Cesaro with a chair to end another match in a DQ.

Rollins broke off a piece of the chair and got Cesaro in a Crossface before hitting him with the Stomp. Seth brought some more chairs into the ring and set up Cesaro for the Con-Chair-To but Edge rushed the ring. Rollins exited through the crowd with a smile on his face. Edge cut a promo backstage and challenged Seth Rollins to a match next week on SmackDown in Madison Square Garden.

Happy Corbin & Logan Paul Appeared On The Kevin Owens Show

Kevin Owens had Baron Corbin on the KO Show tonight. Corbin boasted about his expensive suit and his new car. Baron then welcomed Logan Paul as his guest and the crowd booed. Logan thanked Kevin Owens for having him on his show tonight. Owens said he didn’t invite him on the show and wouldn’t subject these people to that. Logan Paul poked fun at how Kevin Owens looked and offered him some money. Kevin demanded that Logan Paul get out of the ring and never show his face in WWE again. Logan and Kevin Owens shoved each other in the ring. Owens charged at Logan but Corbin caught him with a Clothesline. Corbin planted Owens with a Chokeslam as Logan told Owens “you’re not that guy, pal”.

Sami Zayn def. Dominik

Dominik Mysterio faced Sami Zayn tonight on SmackDown. Zayn missed with a punch in the corner and then locked up with Dominik in the middle of the ring. Dominik connected with an Arm Drag but Sami shrugged it off and leveled him with a Clothesline. Dominik responded with a Hurricanrana and went for the 619 but Sami rolled out of the ring.

Zayn was going to head backstage but Rey Mysterio stopped him. Dominik flipped over the referee and onto Sami outside the ring. Dominik hesitated to get back into the ring because he was telling his dad to stay away. Sami hit the Helluva Kick on Dominik as he got into the ring for the pinfall victory.

Roman Reigns Retained The Universal Championship

Roman Reigns defended the Universal Championship against Finn Balor in the main event. Before the match, The Usos attacked Finn Balor with the steel steps. Street Profits rushed the ring and chased the Street Profits through the crowd. Universal Champion Roman Reigns then made his way to the ring as Balor clutched his ribs in pain.

Balor connected with a Slingblade and went for a Dropkick but Reigns countered with a Clothesline. Roman followed it up with a Uranage and went for the cover but Balor kicked out at two as SmackDown went to a commercial break.

When SmackDown returned, Balor avoided a Superman Punch but Reigns quickly hit him with an uppercut. Finn hit an overhead kick and both superstars crashed to the canvas. Balor and Reigns got back and traded punches in the middle of the ring. Finn sent Roman to the corner and hit him with some chops to the chest. Roman launched Finn out of the ring but Balor trapped the champion in the ring apron.

Finn stomped the hell out of Reigns and then flipped onto him. Balor brought Roman back into the ring and made his way to the top turnbuckle. Balor went for the Coup de Grace but Roman got out of the way. Reigns connected with a Superman Punch and went for the cover but Balor kicked out at two.

Reigns went for a Spear but Balor countered into a cradle for a two count. Finn hit a Dropkick and made his way to the top rope. Balor connected with the Coup de Grace and went for the cover but Reigns kicked out at two. During the kick out, Reigns hit Balor with a low blow. Roman followed it up with a bunch of forearms to the face and the Guillotine to put Balor to sleep. Roman Reigns is still the Universal Champion.

Roman Reigns Beats Finn Balor In Latest WWE Universal Title Defense

Roman Reigns put the WWE Universal Title on the line against Finn Balor in the main event of Friday’s episode of SmackDown.

Both guys were laying in their strikes and the fans were behind Balor towards the end. Balor avoided the spear with the roll then hit a drop kick in the corner and his finisher, yet Reigns kicked out. Reigns with the guillotine choke for the win. 

The match was made official after a challenge that was issued by Balor last week when Reigns and The Usos hosted a family celebration. Balor interrupted them and Balor said he planned on challenging Reigns to a title match at next month’s Extreme Rules pay-per-view, but he doesn’t trust anyone around here. Thus, the match was made official. A brawl broke out with The Street Profits coming out to settle the score. The babyfaces stood tall in the ring to close the show. 

WWE had originally teased Reigns defending the title against Balor at the SummerSlam pay-per-view event, but John Cena signed the contract instead despite it having Balor’s name on it. 

After Reigns beat Cena to retain the title at SummerSlam, Brock Lesnar made his return to confront Reigns. The belief is WWE could be saving Lesnar vs. Reigns for either Crown Jewel this October in Saudi Arabia or WrestleMania 38 next month. 

Becky Lynch vs. Bianca Belair Announced For WWE Extreme Rules

The first match has been announced for the upcoming Extreme Rules PPV.

Becky Lynch will defend her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Bianca Belair at the show, which will be a rematch. Lynch made her big return at last month’s SummerSlam pay-per-view event where she beat Belair in under 30 seconds to win the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Belair was originally slated to defend the title against Sasha Banks at SummerSlam, but it was announced right before the match started that Banks wouldn’t be able to compete.

Belair became the number one contender to the title last week by scoring a win over Liv Morgan, Carmella, and Zelina Vega in a four-way elimination match This came after Lynch refused to give Belair a title shot on SmackDown. On Friday’s show, Lynch again declined to give Belair a title match, but WWE authority figures Sonya Deville and Adam Pearce came out to announce that Lynch will be defending the SmackDown Women’s Championship against Belair at Extreme Rules.

It was also confirmed that a contract signing for the bout will take place on next Friday’s SmackDown at Madison Square Garden, which will feature an appearance by Brock Lesnar. 

WWE presents the Extreme Rules pay-per-view event on Sunday, September 26, 2021 in Columbus, Ohio at the Nationwide Arena that will air on Peacock.

Maria Kanellis Claims WWE Spread False Rumors About Her Pregnancy

Maria Kanellis has claimed that false rumors of her pregnancy came directly from WWE.

Back in April 2020, Maria and Mike Bennett were released from their WWE contracts. This was a part of a wave of post-WrestleMania roster cuts that year. The two unleashed several rants about the company in the following months.

During an interview with Cageside Seats, Maria claimed she let WWE know about her second pregnancy before signing a contract extension. She claims that WWE officials told her it wasn’t an issue and that Vince McMahon loves kids.

Soon, Maria Kanellis began hearing rumors that she didn’t inform WWE of her pregnancy plans. She claims those rumors came straight from WWE.

“From there, I started getting direct messages from different news outlets. ‘Oh, did you not tell them blah blah, blah.’ Those rumors are coming directly from WWE and they are just trying to make us look bad so that when they release us they can feel better about it? But we give them every opportunity to restructure my contract or not pay me as much. They came with more money. That’s not my fault. And so those are the facts.

“Mike was on the road every single weekend during his recovery. He didn’t go to WWE recovery. They didn’t pay for his recovery. If they had, Mike would have ended up paying 50 percent of it back anyways through his contract. A little-known fact. Linda McMahon actually spoke about it during a congressional Congress interrogation, I guess you would call it. So you guys can look it up if you want facts. Those are the facts that even if they had, Mike would have paid for fifty percent of it anyways. But they did not. If you look it up, you can find out that WWE was on the road every single weekend that I was pregnant. He did not go to rehab. He did not go away.”

Since their WWE releases, Maria and Mike have returned to Ring of Honor.

John Cena Reveals His Choice For Best Actor In WWE

John Cena has unveiled his choice for the best actor in WWE.

Cena has been making a smooth transition from the ring to Hollywood. Cena recently made a brief return to the WWE, losing to WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns in the main event of SummerSlam. Cena plans to make an appearance on the Sept. 10 episode of SmackDown, which will take place inside Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Speaking to Dan Patrick on That Scene, Cena explained why he looks at Vince McMahon as the best actor in WWE.

“Vince McMahon. This is his thing and he took it from being a regional thing to national and global. He gets it because he created it. The way he walks, the way he talks, his run as the Chairman in the middle of the Attitude Era, evil Vince, he’s made for it. And he gets it. Like he puts ego and self aside and goes out there and gives everything to it.”

John Cena went on to talk about why WWE has taken the wrestling industry and put their own spin on it with sports entertainment.

“I think it had something to do with, I say I think because it’s complete speculation if we were entertainment we could be in more places and do more things. And I think that’s why we admitted its entertainment. A lot of the mystique used to be around whether it was real or not, and that was twenty, thirty years ago. So we’re still going strong with a larger reach than ever. It just goes to show that people just want to be entertained, they just want a chance to escape.”

CM Punk Signed His AEW Deal ‘About 30 Minutes’ Before Debut

CM Punk made his AEW debut back on the August 20th edition of Rampage from Chicago, Illinois, which marked the first time in seven years that he has worked for a pro wrestling company since he left WWE.

ESPN has an article looking at the signing and included some interesting details. It was noted that Punk actually signed his contract “about 30 minutes” before showtime. 

Punk arrived early at the United Center and got a text from his lawyer while there to tell him that he should probably sign his AEW contract before appearing on television. 

Punk didn’t sleep for two nights before the big moment. He was nervous and anxious backstage to the point where he was questioning things such as his choice of sneakers.

In February, CM Punk responded to a fan on Twitter who asked him which AEW stars he’d want to face. He listed names such as Powerhouse Hobbs, Darby Allin, Brian Pillman Jr, Ricky Starks, and Jungle Boy.

AEW President Tony Khan texted Punk that he liked his list. Within a few weeks, they started talking about money and how he would debut.

Punk will make his AEW in-ring debut against Darby Allin at Sunday’s All Out pay-per-view event from Chicago, IL at the NOW Arena. It will be his first match since the Men’s Royal Rumble bout in January 2014.

Adam Cole Had ‘Non-Negotiable’ Request To WWE Before His Contract Expired

Adam Cole is now on the free-agent market after he let his WWE contract expire and is still exploring his options. 

Cole’s original deal expired back in July but agreed to a short-term extension that would last through August 31st as a way for him to finish up his storyline with Kyle O’Reilly. 

Fightful Select reported today that Cole had made it clear well ahead of his contract even coming up in July that he was not willing to give up his Twitch account. 

This is something that WWE has asked several wrestlers to do and some of them did just that. However, for Cole, it was said to be “non-negotiable.” The report stated that higher-ups weren’t excited to talk to him about it in general, because they didn’t have much leverage on the situation. 

When Cole’s deal expired, it was reported that WWE was trying to re-sign him. Not only is All Elite Wrestling an option for him, but it appears to be the most likely place that he’ll end up as he has friends working for the promotion, and his girlfriend, Britt Baker, is currently the Women’s Champion. 

It’s also possible for him to join other promotions such as NJPW, ROH, and Impact Wrestling, although AEW does have working relationships with NJPW and Impact so if he wanted to work some matches for those promotions, it could be arranged.

Finn Balor: Roman Reigns Is A Once-In-A-Lifetime Talent

Finn Balor believes Roman Reigns is one special individual in the wrestling business.

Balor and Reigns are currently involved in a feud on TV. Balor believes he has unfinished business with Reigns after John Cena took his spot at SummerSlam. Balor made his message clear when he and the Street Profits cleaned house on the “Tribal Chief” and The Usos on the Aug. 27 edition of Friday Night SmackDown.

During an interview with Sports Illustrated, Balor said he feels fans are finally starting to see just how valuable Reigns is.

“I want to address five years ago, when I first locked up with Roman Reigns. The world was talking s— about Roman and his abilities and his performances. From the first moment we locked up, I knew he was something special. He was operating on a different level that people didn’t quite fully understand. Now people are learning he is a once-in-a-lifetime talent. Roman’s proven that over and again, and the masses have accepted and acknowledged that ability and growth. His presence is just unimaginable right now.

“I remember fighting in an Extreme Rules main event in 2017. I’d done my entrance, Samoa Joe did his entrance, a few others did their entrance, and then Roman did his entrance. I remember getting goosebumps as the energy just changed. It’s more raw than the Cena reaction. The Cena reaction is one-of-a-kind, but there is something uniquely different about when Roman steps into the arena.”

Reigns has garnered praise for his “Head of the Table” character. Many believe the transition was much needed for the WWE Universal Champion’s career. For years, Reigns developed the reputation of being a “vanilla” babyface that the WWE brass was trying to force. Now, many believe he’s the best thing going on WWE TV.
