Ric Flair On Who Should Break His 16 World Championship Record

0

Ric Flair is one of the greatest pro wrestlers of all time and one of the things that prove this status is his record 16 championship reigns with the world title.

During his recent interview with WrestlingInc, the legend talked about a number of things and also revealed which star he thinks should break his record.

Flair was reminded about John Cena and Randy Orton who are both close to breaking his record. When asked about it, the Hall Of Famer said that he would like a full-time performer to be the one to achieve the feat:

To be honest with you, I would like to see my daughter break it. Randy Orton has expressed the sentiment to me too. Who knows? It’s funny because I would love to see Randy break it.

John, I certainly wouldn’t be opposed to John breaking it, but I think the person that breaks it needs to be a full-time performer,” said Ric Flair, “just because I think it’s better for the company, not that it matters who the individual is.”

John Cena is tied to Flair for the number of world title victories with 16 title wins. Randy Orton is close behind him with 14 world title reigns.

Which star do you think should break the 16 world championship record of Ric Flair? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section below.

Big Cass Discusses His Battle With Alcohol Addiction

0

CazXL, formerly known as Big Cass in WWE, has opened up his battle with alcohol addiction.

He did so during an interview with Wrestle Talk. He started out by talking about how it’s been a long journey and everything started to click in January 2020.

“I had been in and out of rehab a few times and it just wasn’t clicking, and then I went back to rehab last January and everything started clicking at that point. I embraced the fellowship of Alcoholics Anonymous which I beforehand thought was silly, and I really, really started focusing on my recovery and myself, and magically when you do that you just start to get happier. It’s as if it’s this thing that millions of people had done successfully all over the world, but for me, I was like, ‘No that’s not for me’, but when I finally embraced the program of Alcoholics Anonymous, everything started going good mentally, I was a happy person for the first time in a really long time.”

Cass noted that he wasn’t sure he would return to pro wrestling because he thought it wasn’t for him anymore, but one day, he woke up with a clear head and realized he loves wrestling as its first love and passion. Thus, at that moment, he knew he needed to get back.

“I could have let my addiction stop me from doing what I really want to do, I could’ve taken the easy road and done something a lot easier and less fulfilling, but instead I decided I was gonna come back to wrestling.”

He stated that he went back to the gym and took it very seriously. He brought up how he’s been open in the past about his addiction and struggles with mental health.

“I feel like there’s a stigma around addiction where people don’t like to admit it or they tell themselves that they’re not an addict, and I feel like, more on a human being side, you know performance-wise I’m gonna go out there and be myself, be a turned-up version of myself and kick ass, and I really think that I have the ability to get over and do some things in this business as being myself.”

Cass stated regarding the aspect of a human being, he wants to show people that it can be done no matter how far you get down. He said that there are some things that he’s not ready to talk about that the public hasn’t seen

“But I got to really, really low points, and I really wanna show people that if you love something and you’re passionate about it, it doesn’t matter how low you get, just get up every morning and fight and fight and fight. Because you can accomplish what you wanna accomplish if you believe in yourself. The only person in this world that I need to believe in me for me to succeed, is me.

He said that if you believe in yourself, and you’re going through anything and you feel like the world is against you, it’s possible to get back and to accomplish some great things. That’s his goal going forward. He said the first step to that is reaching out for help, which is something that took him a long time to do.

Cass was released by WWE in 2018. At the time, it was reported that his release was due to behavioral issues such public intoxication during a WWE tour and disobeying direct orders from Vince McMahon.

WWE Reveals Details Of Move To Peacock

0

The WWE Network will be moving to NBC’s streaming platform, Peacock, on March 18th, 2021. The company announced some further details regarding the move today.

Unfortunately, it appears the full catalog of content won’t be full moved over to Peacock until well into the summer, however.

“Peacock will continually add WWE Network content to the library, making the entire WWE Network archive — including every WWE, WCW, and ECW PPV event in history — available to stream on demand before SummerSlam,” reads a WWE.com update posted today.

In terms of what will be available immediately upon the move on March 18th, WWE listed PPVs from the last year, Steve Austin’s “Broken Skull Sessions”, WWE Chronicle, and WWE Icons as well as possibly other documentary series as well. Current subscribers will also have to sign up to Peacock and won’t be rolled over automatically.

“To continue streaming WWE Network content, fans will need to sign up for Peacock. As previously announced, WWE Network, including all PPVs, will be available on Peacock Premium for $4.99 — a $5.00/month savings.”

WWE and Peacock will also prevent a free tier of the WWE Network. Today’s update also detailed what will be included with that.

“In the free tier, Peacock will offer a new WWE channel; select WWE Original shows; reality shows like Miz and Mrs., Total Bellas, and Total Divas; recent in-ring content; and new weekly episodes of select live shows like Raw Talk and WWE’s The Bump, both live and on demand.”

Christian Reaches Out To AEW

Christian made a surprise appearance at January’s WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view. Tony Khan says Christian looked great at the Rumble and that appearance garnered a lot of interest. He then revealed that it was Christian who reached out to AEW looking to join their roster.

“[Christian] was interested in wrestling on a regular basis and he gave me a call,” said Khan. “He said, ‘I’d really like to come wrestle in AEW for you.’ I said, ‘I’d really like to have you come and wrestle for me.’

Khan says the negotiations were easy and he has high hopes for Christian Cage in AEW. Christian signed a multi-year deal.

News On Darby Allin’s Role In Producing Street Fight At Revolution

0

Sting returned to the ring for the first time since 2015 at AEW Revolution. He teamed with Darby Allin and defeated Team Taz’s Brian Cage and Ricky Starks in a cinematic street fight. Allin is a former film school student and played a role in producing the match.

“A lot of it goes into them trusting me and seeing my vision,” Allin said at the post-event media scrum.

“I visualized a lot of this match tonight and to put it out there and not second-guess my directing, it meant a lot to me.”

Allin went into further detail on what role he played in producing the match.

“I would say I was involved in 90% of it,” Allin said. “I was doing damn near everything that night. A lot, a lot of work put into this and I was up for weeks helping produce this. So, it was a lot. It was a good experience because my ass dropped out of film school so this was kind of a test to see my directing skills.”

He also said it was an honor to play a role in this stage of Sting’s career.

Darby Allin has little time to rest coming out of Revolution last night. He’s scheduled to face Scorpio Sky with the TNT title on the line this Wednesday on Dynamite.

Update On Big Swole’s Recent In-Ring Absence

0

Big Swole has only wrestled once in 2021. She defeated Alex Gracia on an episode of AEW Dark on January 7th. Prior to that, it seemed as though Swole was becoming one of the top names in the division. Tony Khan recently addressed Swole’s in-ring absence at the AEW Revolution post-event media scrum.

“I really like Swole. In 2021, she has not really been active because she’s been sick. She’s had Crohn’s Disease keeping her out.”

Swole has been open about her struggles with the condition. It is estimated that 1.3% of the population will be diagnosed with Crohn’s disease or ulcerative colitis at some point in their life.

“She hasn’t really wrestled a lot in 2021, so for the eliminator-tournament, she was actually out when we started the eliminator-tournament with a flare-up of her Crohn’s.”

“She is getting healthy and hopefully we can consistently get her available and have her in action on a regular basis. She’s a great asset to us,” he continued.

Swole spoke about being an inspiration to people with Crohn’s in an interview with Bell to Belles last year.

“I’ve been having a lot of fans reaching out saying I’m an inspiration or they’re proud of me for the Crohn’s disease or for I guess taking RISE to another level or/and the SHINE tag team titles. It’s just been overwhelmingly great to see all the responses and hear people just have my back, you know? So, it felt good.”

News On How Christian’s AEW Deal Came Together

0

Christian Cage was revealed as the big new AEW signing last night. The 47-year-old had just recently been in the 2021 Royal Rumble for WWE. Tony Khan addressed how the deal came together to bring him into the company.

“He’s been a friend of mine for a long time. I met Christian Cage 7 years ago. He’s a great person,” Khan said at the post-event media scrum. “I’ve always really liked him as a person but long before that I’ve been a huge, huge fan of him as a wrestler.”

“I think he’s one of the great wrestlers of the last couple decades. He’s had great matches in different companies. He’s been a great singles wrestler, great tag champion and I think he adds a lot here.”

Khan continued to talk about what Christian’s brings to the company.

“He’s one of the best minds in wrestling and he’s in great physical condition.”

Khan then revealed Christian called him about working in AEW following his Royal Rumble appearance.

“We saw him very recently compete on PPV and there was a lot of interest in it, it generated a lot of interest. He was interested in wrestling on a regular basis. And he gave me a call and said ‘I’d really like to come wrestle in AEW for you’. And I said ‘I’d really like to have you come wrestle for me in AEW, that sounds awesome.'”

Later in the interview, Khan revealed he was not aware Christian was a free agent.

“This came together pretty quickly. Christian Cage had just recently returned to the ring and looked incredibly impressive and I was not aware that he didn’t have a contract and would be interested in wrestling for us,” Khan continued.

Update On Maki Itoh In AEW

0

On the Buy-In show for last night’s AEW Revolution, Maki Itoh was Britt Baker’s surprise tag-team partner. The Joshi-star has become quite popular with AEW fans following her performance in the Women’s title-eliminator tournament. According to Wrestling Observer Radio, AEW was unable to advertise Itoh on the PPV ahead of time as it wasn’t clear if she was going to be able to make it to the show.

“So the story on Maki Itoh is basically she wasn’t advertised because she had to fly in from Tokyo, she was wrestling the day before,” said Dave Meltzer. “It was touch and go if she could get in. She was always the plan but the problem was that one slight flight issue and she doesn’t make it.”

Meltzer added, “She got a giant pop and she’s got super charisma. She’s not really a very good wrestler but I think she was hitting pretty well and she was certainly more than adequate in this match,” he continued.

Itoh and Baker defeated Thunder Rosa and Riho last night. Baker pinned Rosa after Rebel hit her with a crutch. This week on Dynamite, Baker, Itoh & Rebel are scheduled to face Riho, Rosa, and Ryo Mizunami.

Paul Wight Reveals Vince McMahon’s Reaction To Him Signing With AEW

0

AEW held a post-show media scrum following Sunday night’s AEW Revolution pay-per-view from Jacksonville, FL. SEScoops was on the call and there were several interesting news items discussed.

Paul Wight was one of the AEW performers who took the time to field some questions.

White was a significant acquisition for All Elite Wrestling after spending nearly twenty years with WWE. However you feel about the way he’s been portrayed on television over the past few years, there’s no questioning he is a Hall of Fame caliber talent.

Paul Wight and Vince McMahon

The giant was asked about Vince McMahon’s reaction to the news of him jumping to AEW. Wight revealed that McMahon actually called him the day his signing was announced. McMahon was gracious, congratulated him on this new opportunity. He told Wight that he’d be an asset to AEW and this was a good move for his career.

He felt like he did everything there was to do in WWE and sees AEW as an exciting new opportunity.

Wight was adamant that there was no heat or ‘dirt’ between him and Vince McMahon. They remain on good terms. He recently starred in The Big Show Show on Netflix (2020), a sitcom that was not renewed after its first season.

Tony Khan Reacts To Death Match Explosion At AEW Revolution

0

There are some similarities, and some differences, between the finish of Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega’s match at AEW Revolution and when Atsushi Onita faced Terry Funk in FMW in 1993. At the end of the match in 1993, Onita covered an unconscious and helpless Funk to shield him from the massive explosion. At the end of the match at AEW Revolution, Eddie Kingston covered a helpless Moxley to shield him from a rather lackluster pyrotechnics display.

Tony Khan addressed the botched explosion during the post-event media scrum.

“Honestly, I’m glad neither guy came out with a serious injury because it was a really scary match and they both really put their health at risk for a huge PPV main event,” Khan said. “I think it was awesome, it was a great spectacle and I think we’re all lucky that the bomb going off in the end didn’t really hurt anybody, that Kenny’s big masterplan, that he built a dud.”

Barbed Wire Death Match Explosion

Tony Khan then continued to push the idea that in storyline, Kenny Omega built a faulty explosion.

“Who would have thought when he drew up the big plan with crayons that maybe the bomb might fail to take both guys out?” Khan continued. “I thought that for the battle, it really delivered excellent action. Both guys came out okay, which is great because on paper it looked like the kind of match where somebody could get hurt.”

In a later question, Khan continued to address how AEW will handle the dud in storyline. He noted Jon Moxley’s post-event promo talking about Omega’s bomb-making skills being poor.

“The basic explanation is that Kenny’s ring set to explode, his plan as a heel who built this thing with a hammer and nails as we saw, that the final bomb just didn’t go off,” Khan concluded.

Jon Moxley Reacts To Underwhelming Evolution Finish (Video)

0

Former AEW Champion Jon Moxley has reacted to the underwhelming ending of the Evolution PPV which he main evented alongside Kenny Omega.

The hardcore star addressed the fans in the arena after the show was over and he called out the current AEW champion for not being able to create an exploding ring that was worth the hype:

“Kenny Omega may be a tough son of a b****, but he can’t make an exploding ring worth a s***,” said Mox, “I’ve seen more dangerous s*** on Ridiculousness on MTV. What the f*** was that?”

https://twitter.com/Gavin_Evans15/status/1368797304493387782

The former WWE star then went on to thank the fans for coming to the show and he also put over the wrestlers who worked the event. He said that the talent worked hard from the first match to the last before vowing to be back for his title.

For those who don’t know, Jon Moxley had slipped a rematch clause in his contract for the AEW title match at the Winter Is Coming special in December.

While Kenny Omega agreed to give Mox his rematch, he said that he will choose the stipulation for the match and the AEW Champion had chosen an Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch.

Omega ended up winning this bout with some help from the Good Brothers but the talking point coming off of the PPV was the ending of the show.

The ending saw the heels handcuffing Mox and leaving him in the ring for the explosion that was hyped prior to the match. However, the blast wasn’t very powerful and it left the fans feeling underwhelmed.

Christian Cage Made His AEW Debut

Christian Cage made his AEW debut tonight and was the wrestler that Paul Wight was talking about. Christian came down to the ring with his AEW contract and signed it. Christian then opened his jacket to reveal a shirt reading “out. work. everyone”.

Opinion: This would have been a much more effective debut if Tony Khan hadn’t overhyped it. While it will be cool to see Christian end his career on his own terms, I thought this was executed poorly. It would have been much better if Christian just showed up. In the long run, I think Christian will provide much more value behind the scenes if he sticks around.

Sting & Darby Allin Picked Up A Win

Sting & Darby Allin faced Ricky Starks & Brian Cage in a pretaped Street Fight. Sting and Allin came to a ring in a warehouse with a bunch of people in Sting masks. Darby leaped but Cage caught him and hit a German Suplex. Starks stomped Sting to the canvas as Cage beat up the extras that came to the ring.

Sting hit a Splash on Starks in the corner of the ring as Cage launched Darby into a door. Sting slammed Starks onto a brick wall and unloaded several punches. Brian Cage walked up a flight of stairs with Darby lifted up for a Suplex and dropped him on the concrete.

Cage and Hobbs threw Darby through a glass door as Hawk beat Sting down. Darby hurled the bat to Sting and he hit Hawk with it. Sting broke the bat over Cage’s back and hit him with a shovel. Darby then hit a ridiculous Elbow Drop onto Cage. Sting got into the ring with Starks and Ricky hit him with an elbow. Sting went for a Splash but Starks got out of the way and hit a Spear for a two count. Sting then planted Starks with the Scorpion Death Drop for the pinfall victory.

Opinion: I thought this match was fun and it was awesome to see Sting back in action. I don’t mind the cinematic matches but the commentary over it was distracting. It was obvious that this wasn’t live and I would have preferred no commentary for the match. Other than that nitpick, this was entertaining for what it was and Sting was presented very well. As for cinematic matches, the Boneyard Match between Styles & Undertaker is still my favorite.

Kenny Omega Retained The AEW Championship

Kenny Omega defended the AEW Championship against Jon Moxley in an Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match in the main event of this year’s Revolution. Don Callis joined commentary for the title match. Referee Bryce Remsburg was essentially dressed like a beekeeper and Moxley took a shot from a flask before the match.

Moxley went on the attack right away and tried to shove Omega’s face into the barbed wire. Omega applied a Headlock but Moxley broke the hold with a Suplex. Omega quickly regrouped and applied the Headlock once again.

Jon escaped and tried to slam Kenny onto a barbed wire wrapped board but the AEW Champion escaped. Omega hit a big boot but Moxley responded with a Clothesline that sent Kenny to the outside.

Moxley threw some steel chairs into the ring and grabbed a barbed wire bat. Moxley hit Omega with the bat and connected with a Russian Leg Sweep on the entrance ramp. Moxley hit Omega with a kendo sticks a couple times before the action returned to the ring.

Omega threw powder in Jon’s eyes and threw him into the barbed wire ropes and an explosion went off that caused the crowd to chant “holy shit!”. Omega started bashing Moxley with the kendo stick and then slammed him onto a garbage can for a two count.

Moxley was busted open and Kenny locked in a Figure Four in the middle of the ring. Jon grabbeda barbire wrapped chair and scraped it across Omega’s knees to break the hold. Kenny slammed Moxley onto the barbed wire board in the corner of the ring as the blood poured down the challenger’s face.Omega connected with a Moonsault and went for a lazy cover but Moxley easily kicked out at two. Moxley sent Kenny to the ropes twice and two explosions went off.

Omega went for a Snap Dragon but Moxley countered into an Exploder Suplex onto the other barbed wire board in the corner of the ring. Jon went for the Paradigm Shift but Omega escaped. Moxley hit a German Suplex on top of the bat and followed it up with a Side Slam onto the barbed wire chair.

Jon wrapped barbed wire around his own arm but Omega hit him with some jabs to the face. Omega ducked under a Clothesline and hit a Snap Dragon Suplex. Omega followed it up with the V-Trigger but Jon shrugged it off and hit a Clothesline.

Moxley went for the Paradigm Shift but Omega shoved him to the ropes causing another explosion. Jon and Omega then battled on the ring apron with a giant barbed wire board beneath them. Moxley connected with a Paradigm Shift onto the board and an explosion went off underneath them.

The action returned to the ring with both wrestlers pouring blood down their faces. Moxley hit Omega with several punches with barbed wire wrapped around his fist. Moxley connected with a Piledriver and went for the cover but Omega kicked out at two.

Omega hit Moxley with a low blow and followed it up with a Powerbomb for a near fall. Kenny connected with another V-Trigger and lifted Moxley up in the Electric Chair. Omega hit the One Winged Angel and went for the cover but Moxley got his booted on the ropes to cause an explosion to break it up.

Gallows and Anderon (Good Brothers) rushed the ring but Jon beat them down. Omega leveled Moxley with an exploding barbed wire bat for a two count. Omega then planted Moxley with the One Winged Angel on top of a chair for the pinfall victory. Kenny Omega is still the AEW Champion.

After the match, Good Brothers attacked Moxley again and brought out some handcuffs. Good Brothers cuffed Moxley’s hands behind his back as the clock ticked down until the ring explodes. Excalibur shouted at Callis that this is bullshit because Omega cannot win on his own.

Omega hit Moxley several times with the barbed wire bat as a one minute countdown began. Eddie Kingston ran to the ring and laid on top of Moxley to protect him. A pretty weak explosion went off that spawned some scattered boos. They then laid there fo a while until officials came to the ring to end the show.

Opinion: I enjoyed the match but most are going to be talking about the terrible ending. There is no way to spin it, the ending to tonight’s show was brutal. The explosion was pathetic and it was laughable to watch Moxley and Kingston sell it. They were trying but nothing was going to fix how anticlimactic the explosion was.

Revolution was a good show but several mistakes were made. I’m hoping the ending was a massive botch and the pyro didn’t go off correctly. Either way, that was a remarkably bad way to end the PPV. AEW Revolution had all the hype in the world but unfortunately it fell short of being a memorable event. If you overhype to get PPV buys, you have accept fans feeling disappointed if the show doesn’t deliver.

Kenny Omega Wins Exploding Barbed Wire Deathmatch At AEW Revolution

0

Kenny Omega and Jon Moxley had one of the most memorable matches in the young history of AEW again.

Omega put the AEW World Heavyweight Championship on the line against Moxley in an exploding barbed wire deathmatch at the AEW Revolution pay-per-view event.  There was a 30-minute clock ticking away and when it expired if there wasn’t a pinfall or submission, the explosions would go off.

The match featured most of the ropes being wrapped with barbed wire ad various weapons. Early on, Moxley got sent into the ropes and fireworks went off. He was bleeding early on. Moxley hit a DDT off the apron through two boards with wire and there was an explosion. Omega was also busted open. The Good Brothers came out at one point. Omega hit the One-Winged Angel onto a chair for the win. Post-match, Moxley was handcuffed and beaten down. As the clock started to countdown, Eddie Kingston came out to make the save and covered Moxley as the explosions went off. Unfortunately, the big explosion was a let down.

The two wrestlers had worked two prior singles matches against one another with their first being at AEW Full Gear back in November 2019 when Moxley defeated Omega. Their second match took place this past December on an episode of Dynamite as Omega defeated Moxley to win the AEW World Title with the help of Don Callis, which kicked off his heel run.

All Elite Wrestling made this match official on the February 17th edition of Dynamite as  Omega and The Good Brothers attacked Moxley after he, Fenix, and Lance Archer defeated Eddie Kingston, The Butcher, and The Blade. Omega did a promo where he granted Moxley his rematch, but wanted it in this type of brutal match.

Sting Wins His First Match Since 2015 At AEW Revolution

0

Sting worked his first match since 2015 when he teamed up with Darby Allin to take on Brian Cage and Ricky Starks in a Street Fight at the AEW Revolution pay-per-view event in Jacksonville, Florida.

The match was obviously cinematic and there was a ring set up in an abandoned warehouse. They shot it in different camera angles. Sting was wearing a t-shirt and jeans. Will Hobbs and Hook came out to attack Allin. Sting was hit with a board and tossed into some walls as well as getting speared. Allin was sent through a glass window setting up against a wall. Allin dove off the second floor and crashed onto Cage. The finish saw Sting hitting the Scorpion Death Drop to Starks for the win.

AEW set up this contest back in January when Taz issued the challenge to Sting and Allin. Sting’s previous match came in the way of a loss to then-WWE World Champion Seth Rollins at the Night of Champions pay-per-view in 2015. He took a buckle bomb and suffered a neck injury. Soon afterward he learned he had spinal stenosis.

Originally, the belief was that this would be a cinematic match due to Sting’s physical condition, which was the case. The WWE Hall of Famer made his surprise AEW debut at December’s Winter Is Coming edition of Dynamite on TNT. He teased feuding with Cody Rhodes, but went into the direction that AEW presented after Team Taz’s attacks on Allin.

What are your thoughts on Sting’s performance in this match?

Christian Cage Revealed As AEW’s Big Talent Signing

0

After much speculation, Christian Cage turned out to be AEW’s big talent signing.

This past Wednesday night, AEW had Paul Wight, formerly known as The Big Show, do a promo where he stated AEW was going to sign a “Hall of Fame-worthy talent” at the Revolution pay-per-view event.

At Revolution, Cage came out to his old TNA theme music. He grabbed the contract then walked to the ring and signed it. He never said a word. That was it.

Before this announcement was made, there was a lot of speculation about who it could be. The names fans thought it could include the likes of CM Punk, Batista, Christian, Kurt Angle, and more.

AEW President Khan did note that the signing was one of his all-time favorite wrestlers. In a past interview, he named Chris Jericho, Ric Flair, Bret Hart, and Steve Austin as his Mount Rushmore of wrestlers.

On Saturday, it was reported Christian was a free agent, and not under contract with WWE. The report noted, “there were some ideas discussed between WWE and Christian, and the company was interested in signing him. However, talks apparently fell through.” Fightful reported Christian had not been backstage as of late at WWE events and there were no creative plans spoken about.

In addition, fans also picked up on how AEW’s Chief Legal officer Megha Parekh recently followed then unfollowed Christian on Instagram. The former WWE World Heavyweight Champion made his in-ring return this past January at the Royal Rumble by working the Men’s Royal Rumble Match. He had been retired due to a history of concussions.

Scorpio Sky Wins Ladder Match, Ethan Page Makes AEW Debut At Revolution

0

All Elite Wrestling held its Face Of The Revolution Ladder Match, which had a mystery entrant that turned out to be Ethan Page.

It happened at Sunday’s (March 7, 2021) AEW Revolution pay-per-view event. Other competitors in the contest included Cody Rhodes, Scorpio Sky, Penta El Zero M, Lance Archer, and Max Caster.

https://twitter.com/AEW/status/1368761010492997634

It had the stipulation of the winner receiving an AEW TNT Championship match on the March 10 episode of AEW Dynamite against Darby Allin. The match featured Penta hitting the Candian Destroyer to Cody on the ladder wedged between the apron and barricade. Cody was taken to the backstage area. Rhodes later came back out and attacked Page. There was a big bump by Sky through a ladder. The finish saw Sky shoved Cody off the ladder and got the ring.

AEW President Tony Khan stated during this week’s AEW Unrestricted podcast that the title match would happen, but if Allin couldn’t make the defense then he would be stripped of the title.

On this same pay-per-view event, Allin teamed up with Sting against Brian Cage and Ricky Starks in a Street Fight.

There had been some speculation as to who this mystery entrant would be. In fact, there was some confusion between this and the Hall of Fame-worthy talent signing promised by Paul Wight. Khan later clarified as the two were separate from each other.

The Young Bucks Retain AEW Tag Team Titles At Revolution

0

MJF and Chris Jericho took advantage of their shot at AEW gold when they challenged The Young Bucks for the AEW Tag Team Titles.

The championship match took place at the AEW Revolution pay-per-view event on Sunday night. The match was memorable as The Young Bucks started things off by getting some revenge on the heels before the heels took over.

There were various near falls throughout. At one point, Jericho went for the lionsault and the Bucks hit him with superkicks. The Bucks hit the Meltzer Driver to Jericho for the win.

The match was set up on the February 3rd edition of Dynamite when MJF and Chris Jericho won a tag team battle royal. Jericho was the last man standing in the bout when he ended up eliminating Darius Martin of Top Flight to win. The last three men in the ring were Jericho, Sammy Guevara, and Martin.

The Young Bucks were also in the match but were eliminated when The Good Brothers helped Nick Jackson eliminate Isiah Cassidy of Private Party. Jackson started to argue with his friends and MJF ended up eliminating him due to the distraction.

What are your thoughts on The Young Bucks retaining the AEW Tag Team Titles? Was this the right call by AEW officials? Sound off in the comment section.

AEW Revolution Street Fight Taped In Advance: Here’s What We Know

0

Tonight at AEW Revolution, fans will get to witness a street fight between Darby Allin & Sting vs Team Taz’s Ricky Starks and Brian Cage. The match will not take place in front of the live crowd, however, as the cinematic match has already been taped.

SI.com’s Justin Barrasso confirmed recently that the match has been filmed ahead of time. Not only that, it evidently exceeded expectations.

“AEW Revolution note: The Team Taz-Darby Allin/Sting street fight was filmed ahead of time and is said to be a massive success,” Barrasso Tweeted.

“The match highlights Sting while ensuring he worked in as safe of an environment as possible; allowed Ricky Starks and Brian Cage to have some star-making moments; and gave Darby Allin – who had a chance to apply his film school background – more chances to be a daredevil,” he added.

“In this case, there is no denying that WWE’s loss is AEW’s gain. The failure to use the legendary Sting in a similar role, especially after proving in 2014 and ‘15 that he was still a legitimate attraction, is a considerable blunder for Vince McMahon,” Barrasso concluded.

This will be Sting’s first match since Night of Champions 2015. He was defeated by Seth Rollins on that night.

“It was a bad day at the office, it was one of the more darker days during my tenure as head of talent relations,” JR continued. “But it’s going to make a hell of a special for Dark Side of the Ring that was spawned by what they heard Conrad and I talking about on this podcast (Grilling’ JR).”

AEW Files To Trademark Paul Wight’s ‘Captain Insano’ Name From The Waterboy

0

All Elite Wrestling filed a very interesting trademark on March 3rd, 2021. The company filed to trademark the term “Captain Insano” which just so happens to be the name of the character Paul Wight played in the 1998 Adam Sandler comedy film, “The Waterboy.”

AEW has listed video games, clothing, toys, and “Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibits and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer” as to the nature of the filing.

There is also a children’s author named Christopher Williamson who has the term trademarked for a series of kid’s books. Website HeelByNature was the first to report on these trademark filings with the US Patent and Trademark office.

The 49-year-old Wight has numerous IMDB credits to his name, including as Captain Insano. Before appearing in the Waterboy, Wight performed in 96’s Jingle All The Way. He also had a role in 2010’s MacGruber. He starred in 2010’s poorly-reviewed film, Knucklehead.

The first television role Wight ever had was in 1994’s “Thunder in Paradise” starring Hulk Hogan. His role went uncredited but it led to him signing with WCW the following year. His latest role was as the star of Netflix’s “Big Show Show.” The series ran for 6 episodes before ultimately being canceled.

Pat McAfee and Bully Ray Tease AEW Revolution Appearances

0

AEW will be presenting their Revolution PPV tonight from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida. Several talents have been rumored for appearances on the show; with the ladder match spot and ‘hall of fame worthy’ talent still to be revealed by the company.

A few different performers in pro wrestling have continued to tease that they’re heading to All Elite Wrestling tonight. NXT and NFL star Pat McAfee and former WWE, ECW and TNA star Bully Ray are among these names.

Bully Ray recently posted an old Dudley Boys ECW promo where he references the phrase ‘revolution.’

“Tonight, from men to heroes” Bully said during the original promo. “From heroes to legends and from legends to gods. The gods become immortal and the revolution continues.”

Bully Ray and Pat McAfee

Pat McAfee also used Twitter to tease an appearance tonight. The one time NXT Superstar posted a video of him packing his wrestling gear, seemingly preparing for a match.

McAfee and AEW star Miro have been going back on forth on social media recently; so there’s potentially a chance that the former NFL kicker might appear in All Elite.

Do you think that Pat McAfee or Bully Ray might appear at AEW Revolution tonight? Let us know in the comments
