Impact Wrestling presented the go-home show for Slammiversary last night. The show was taped inside New York’s Melrose Ballroom.
Here are 9 takeaways from Impact Wrestling 7/5:
9Tessa Blanchard Takes A Baseball Bat To OVE
OVE was attempting to enjoy catering when Tessa Blanchard infiltrated their party with a baseball bat. Blanchard took out both members of OVE before turning her attention to Callihan, looking to soften him up for their match on Sunday. Blanchard hit Callihan in the head with the bat to end the segment.
8Rich Swann & Willie Mack Pick Up Win In Main Event
Willie Mack gave Johnny Bravo a stunner and then Swann hit a Phoenix Splash to get the win for their team in the main event. Swann will have to worry about Bravo being in Impact’s corner at Slammiversary, however.
7The North Win Impact Tag Team Championships
Last night on the Twitch broadcast, Melissa Santos announced during a commercial break that the North had defeated LAX to win the tag titles at Bash at the Brewery. The tag title match at Slammiversary was then changed to a triple threat match featuring the Rascalz, LAX, and the new champions.
6Moose Plans On Retiring Rob Van Dam
Moose admitted in a promo this week that he was once a fan of Rob Van Dam. That was 20 years ago, however. Moose then said not only does he plan on beating Rob Van Dam Sunday at Slammiversary, but he also plans on retiring him.
5Kiera Hogan’s Not The Girl On Fire Anymore
Kiera Hogan no longer has red hair and no longer plays by the rules. Jordynne Grace was on commentary during this match and was not happy with the methods Hogan used to win it. Hogan pulled the hair to gain the advantage and hit a fishermen’s suplex for the win. After the match, Grace got in the ring to confront Hogan but Hogan avoided her and headed to the back.
4Wentz and Dez Will Represent The Rascalz At Slammiversary
Last week on Impact, all 3 members of the Rascalz agreed they would face each other this week in a triple threat. The wrestler who gets pinned would then be the odd man out and not represent the team at Slammiversary. Wentz and Dez ended up the winners, meaning Trey will not be an official member of the Slammiversary team.
3Killer Kross Is A Creepy Individual
Killer Kross will face Eddie Edwards in a first blood match this Sunday at Slammiversary. This week on Impact, he cut a promo from a church. As Kross took a gulp of wine, however, it looked as though it was blood in the goblet.
2Rohit Raju Drinks Beer, Defeats Laredo Kid
Rohit Raj defeated the Laredo Kid in single’s action this week. Before the match, the Desi Hit Squad were shown in the back about to enjoy some tea prepared by the Great Gama Singh. The Deaners snuck in, however, and replaced the tea with beer. Despite pretending to act disgusted, Raju snuck in a few extra sips before going out for his match.
1TJP Beats Ace Austin Again
TJP defeated Ace Austin for the second time in a row to kick off the show this week. After going undefeated his first few months in the promotion, Austin seems to not be able to get past TJP.
