John Cena has revealed that approximately 70 tracks were left on the cutting room floor during the making of his 2005 debut album “You Can’t See Me.”
The 17-time World Champion opened up about his music career in an exclusive interview with Tom Rinaldi for Billboard, with the full sit-down set to air tonight following Monday Night Raw on WWE’s YouTube channel.
There’s like 70 lost tracks of the album that never made it out,” Cena said. “I was able to shave off the ones that shouldn’t make and give you the ones that should, and I’m lucky to get that.
The revelation comes as the RIAA-certified platinum album celebrates its 20th anniversary. Released on May 10, 2005, the project debuted at No. 15 on the Billboard 200 and featured Cena’s iconic entrance theme “The Time Is Now.”
One and Done
Despite the album’s commercial success, Cena confirmed there will be no follow-up and the unreleased tracks will remain locked away.
It is a young man’s game and I’m not in it anymore,” Cena explained. “The rapping thing was an accident. I listened to the music they played for me and I’m like, ‘I can do better than this — wait I could do better than this.\'
Cena’s final WWE match takes place this Saturday at Saturday Night’s Main Event, where he faces World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER.
