AEW Dynamite Results (9/2): MJF Attacks Jon Moxley, Jericho & Orange Cassidy

Thunder Rosa Picked Up A Win In Her Debut Match In AEW

NWA Women’s Champion Thunder Rosa faced Serene Deeb tonight on Dynamite. Hikaru Shida will defend the AEW Women’s Championship against Thunder Rosa at All Out.

Match Recap: Deeb got in some offense early but Thunder Rosa quickly battled back with a couple Arm Drags. Rosa followed it up with a Dropkick but Deeb battled back with a Neckbreaker as Dynamite went to a break. When Dynamite returned, Thunder Rosa was back in control of the match. Thunder Rosa connected with the Thunder Driver for the pinfall victory.

MJF Attacked Moxley To Close The Show

Jon Moxley faced Mark Sterling (MJF’s lawyer) in the main event. Wardlow was ringside for the match. Moxley will defend the AEW Championship against MJF this Saturday at All Out.

Match Recap: Moxley jokingly prayed before the bell rang. Moxley made it seem like he was going to charge at Mark and Sterling fell on his ass in the corner of the ring. Sterling apparently didn’t know how to make a fist and Moxley helped him out. Jon hit Sterling with a punch that sent Mark out of the ring.

Moxley chased after him and eventually caught him in the ring. Sterling connected with a poke to the eye and celebrated like he won the title. Jon Clotheslined him out of the ring and then launched him into the barricade. Moxley took out Sterling’s shoe and hit him with it several times before rolling him back in the ring.

Jon grabbed a steel chair and took a seat as Sterling stumbled to his feet. Moxley hit the Paradigm Shift for the pinfall victory. After the match, Wardlow hit Moxley with a Clothesline and followed it up with the F10. MJF came down the entrance ramp with a walker and a neck brace.

MJF threw the walker away and took off the neck brace. MJF got into the ring as Wardlow continued to beat Moxley down. MJF hit Moxley in the face with several punches and stomped on him in the corner of the ring. MJF asked for the Dynamite Diamond and Wardlow put it on him. MJF punched Moxley in the head and then screamed like a maniac. MJF shouted that this is what is going to happen on Saturday night. Moxley was busted open and MJF bit his head before choking him in the middle of the ring. He then wiped Moxley’s blood on his face and posed with the title to close the show.

Opinion: Sometimes the comedy in AEW misses and I thought that happened multiple times tonight. Some of the backstage segments had poor audio as well and AEW doesn’t deserve a pass on technical issues anymore. However, MJF’s brutal attack to close the show was great, Thunder Rosa shined, and the 8-man tag match was very entertaining. Overall, this week’s Dynamite was a mixed bag but I am still very much looking forward to All Out.
