AJ Styles says WWE must capitalize on Chad Gable’s momentum right now or risk missing a major opportunity, calling Gable a legitimate potential heavyweight champion.
Styles made the comments on his Phenomenally Retro podcast following Gable’s mask vs. mask loss at AAA Noche de Los Grandes.
He’s a bigger superstar than he’s ever been at this very moment. And if we don’t capitalize, and I say we because I’m a part of WWE, we don’t capitalize on this, we’re dumb. We’re dummies. He can be heavyweight champion. He’s a legit freaking pro wrestler — there’s no way somebody in the crowd’s thinking ‘I could take freaking Chad Gable.’ Uh dude, legit, he will drop you on your head and there’s nothing you can do about it.
Gable returned to SmackDown on Friday following the mask loss, appearing in a backstage segment before apologizing to Rey Fenix for his actions during the El Grande Americano character run. Fenix accepted but noted Gable owes apologies to other luchadores as well.
