AJ Styles hasn’t fully let go of the in-ring life just yet, making a surprise appearance to protect his son during an independent wrestling event.
At Atlanta Wrestling Entertainment, Avery Styles found himself the target of a post-match attack, with an opponent setting up to hit him with a Styles Clash. Before the move could land, AJ Styles showed up to make the save himself, stopping the attack before it finished.
Styles officially retired from in-ring competition this past January, losing to Gunther at the Royal Rumble. He’s since said he’d be open to coming out of retirement under one specific circumstance: teaming with Avery on a major stage.
Avery is signed with TNA Wrestling and is scheduled to make his in-ring debut at Bound for Glory in the Call Your Shot Gauntlet. With his father already stepping back into save-mode once on the indie scene, a genuine father-son match down the line doesn’t seem completely out of the question.
