Drew McIntyre is back in the United States, and WWE has not started planning what to do with him.
PWInsider reports that there has been no talk yet of returning McIntyre to WWE storylines. He has not been on television since WrestleMania 42, where Jacob Fatu beat him in an Unsanctioned Match on Night 1.
Both of the films that kept him away are finished. He wrapped his role in the Highlander reboot in April, playing Angus MacLeod, brother to Henry Cavill’s Connor MacLeod, in the Amazon MGM film directed by Chad Stahelski. He then shot The Last Druid in Spain with Russell Crowe, which wrapped on August 5. Crowe confirmed it himself in an Instagram post showing the two of them in the gym.
McIntyre still has WWE work on his plate. He was announced in July as part of the company’s live-action microdrama series with ReelShort, alongside Joe Hendry and Jacob Fatu. Hendry missed last week’s Raw to film his.
It was reported in June that there was nothing on the table for him creatively due to his Hollywood commitments, and that he was circling additional projects.
McIntyre won the Undisputed WWE Championship for the third time on the January 9 SmackDown in Berlin, beating Cody Rhodes. He held it for 56 days before Rhodes took it back on the March 6 SmackDown, in a match Fatu interfered in.
