There’s encouraging news on R-Truth after his match against Damian Priest was stopped early on the October 16 episode of SmackDown.
Wrestling Observer’s Bryan Alvarez said on social media that Truth appears to be doing all right, but will be evaluated next week before there’s a clearer picture of his condition. Alvarez said he didn’t have any other details about the injury and wished him a quick recovery.
The match ended abruptly after Truth hit a missile dropkick from the top rope. Truth landed awkwardly, and the referee threw the ‘X’ sign, indicating a legitimate injury.
The match was part of a heated rivalry between the former tag team partners. Priest turned on Truth on the September 11 SmackDown after they failed to win the AAA World Tag Team Championships from the War Raiders.
The two had held the WWE Tag Team Championships for 147 days before losing them to Talla Tonga and Tama Tonga on August 14. Priest later attacked Truth at the WWE Performance Center on September 24.
Alvarez’s update doesn’t confirm that Truth is medically cleared, and it’s still unclear what exactly he injured or whether he’ll miss time.
