Becky Lynch has revealed a recent exchange with John Cena that changed her perspective.
WWE recently dropped a new video featuring a number of stars discussing the best advice they have gotten from the Cenation Leader. The YouTube video saw names such as Cody Rhodes, CM Punk and more discussing advice from the wrestling legend before his upcoming retirement match.
The last person to share the same was Becky Lynch. She recalled having a conversation with the 17-time world champion after having a bad match and feeling like she didn't do her best:
"So just this past SummerSlam, I had a match, and it wasn't my favorite match. I came back, and I was downtrodden and I was upset. He was like, 'Hey, you good? You physically fine?'
I said, 'Yeah.' He's like 'She physically fine?' I said, 'Yeah' 'Did the crowd react?' I said, 'Yeah'. He said 'Then what's the problem?' And I said, 'It just wasn't my best.' And he said, 'Well, you get to do it tomorrow.'"
Turn Everything Around: Becky Lynch
Becky Lynch defended her Women's IC Title against Lyra Valkyria at night 2 of SummerSlam 2025. She won the match and went on to hold the belt for another 3 months before dropping it to Maxxine Dupri in November.
The Man explained how this small exchange gave her new energy, and she was able to get her mind back in the game. She cut a great promo only the next night and received another text from the GOAT:
"And I think that kind of simple advice of, nothing is ever permanent in this business, and we can go and one match, one promo, everything can turn everything around.
Then the next night I went out, I had a pretty damn good promo if I do say so myself. I may have name-dropped him in that promo, and he texted me and said, 'See, it can all turn around in one night.'"
John Cena is set to face Gunther, who called Cena the greatest sports entertainer, in his retirement match at Saturday Night's Main Event. WWE has planned surprises for the historic evening.
