Booker T thinks Chelsea Green should put a mask on and keep wrestling.
Green broke her orbital bone on the August 7th SmackDown in Philadelphia, five days after winning the Interim WWE Women’s Championship in a SummerSlam ladder match. She took Fatal Influence’s finish in a tag title match alongside Tiffany Stratton, went to the emergency room, and has said she is not giving up the title.
On his Hall of Fame podcast, co-host Brad Gilmore asked Booker what he made of that decision.
Work through the pain, baby. You worked too hard to get here, and to have to give it up like that, it would not be poetic justice at all.
Put the face mask on, go out there, and get the work done. Just part of the game.
Green’s own read on it is less certain. In the Instagram video confirming the injury, she called it an occupational hazard and said the swelling looks worse than it feels, before turning to what comes next.
I have no idea what that means for me. Usually, you guys have seen me play into every single injury, but this feels different, obviously.
She went on to say she needs time to process and to heal from what she described as head trauma, and that she is taking it day by day.
The timing is bad for the division as much as for her. The interim title exists because Rhea Ripley is out following surgery on a torn meniscus, and Green won it barely a week ago. WWE has not said whether she will defend it, vacate it, or work through it.
