They’re a Brick…Brick Savage. The dominating force within Contra Unit is just getting started as “The World Breaker” gears up for their official Major League Wrestling Fusion debut. This superheavyweight Texan rained on Trevor Lee’s parade, using the Southern Crown Champion to show an example of the destruction that awaits any opponents. And with the Serpent himself Josef Samael by their side, the MLW has been put on notice. The company was the perfect landing spot for Savage.
I’ve always been interested in MLW,” they said. “I feel like the way they intertwine so many different types of characters and people, and the roster is stacked. When I think about places that I want to try to create something that’s unique and fun and have that ability to do so, MLW was one of the places I wanted to go. Over the last couple years, I really tried to dial in the way I’ve developed my character to stand out and be something that was not only entertaining, but eye-catching with the aura and having people want to see that develop.”
Savage came to the business following their father Bobby Hall (Bobby 2 Badd) and after pursuing other sports. Although they admittedly dabbled in the ring a time or two during the adolescent and teenage years. Though the focus was more on football and eventually all in powerlifting. The latter was where they flourished over seven years as a pro.
I used to cut promos and stuff,” Savage recalled. “I would challenge people to one-on-ones and all that stuff.”
Pro wrestling was in their blood, even before they saw that for the next destination. In 2022, they got back into working and training. Around three months into the journey the fascination really took hold. They have been happy with the career trajectory so far, working all over and gaining valuable experience. On the origin of the Brick Savage name, that came rather organically.
“I’m a large human, right? So I’d always had this moniker of Savage before from powerlifting and whatnot…I needed something that was representing myself as a whole in the imagery that I had. I went to the gym one day, and it’s been a couple years since I’ve been to this particular gym, and I walked by this dude. He hadn’t seen me in a couple years, and was like, ‘Goddamn, dude, you’re built like a brick sh*house.’ And I was like, “Hold on, hold on, there’s something to that deal,’ so I started messing around with different types of names. Brick was the one that stuck out most. And also in wrestling, there’s a term they use. Brick for being stiff and, like, hard, you know, to work with and whatnot, so I thought it was just kind of funny and interesting to have both.
Savage prides themselves on standing out and also setting a positive example in terms of representation for the LGBTQ+ community. Their social media showcases empowerment, describing themselves as the “Bisexual Tyrannosaur” or “Non-Binary Demigod.”
It’s usually not something I think is at the forefront that people are going to be like, ‘Hey, cool, this person reminds me of myself.’ It wasn’t until I had my wheels running and just going, ‘I just wanted to be someone that was respected and treated fairly, and all that, and whatnot,’” Savage said. “It was brought to my attention when, you know, some people started reaching out to me and stuff, and were like, ‘I’m also non-binary, you show me that I don’t have to look like this. I don’t have to look like this. I can look at myself and be happy with that, and be able to do these things, and you do amazing things.’ You know I didn’t think about it at the forefront, but after it was brought to my attention, I had that feeling of me being able to carry the torch somewhere for a group of people that feel this way and want this type of representation, that feel like you could be in the LGBTQ community, and be dangerous, and be fun, and entertaining, and have this allure, all that stuff. I’m all in one, you know. You don’t have to be stuck in a box for things. I feel like Brick Savage represents that person who can do those things and not be stuck in a box.
Savage looks forward to showcasing all they can do coming up in MLW. They plan to eliminate any doubt that they are one of one.
I get those things, and you’re always going to get those things, the comparisons,” Savage said, addressing the looks like Bronson Reed social media chatter. “I’m bigger, I’m taller, I’m faster, I’m stronger. Most of these guys play this part. They give this illusion that they’re strong. I am absolutely strong. There is not a person I couldn’t pick up, or demolish, or toss around….Everybody is a twink to me. It is kind of just hilarious where it’s hey, we’re going to pick this guy and say this comparison. We don’t look anything alike, alright? I don’t look, I also don’t look Samoan. I’m black and European, and it’s, it’s just comical that because I put on a black singlet that I get compared to this guy….I’m not saying I have a lot to prove to people, but once I get going here….this is a whole different breed of a person.
