Brie Bella’s latest recovery update shows just how serious the injury she suffered at SummerSlam really was.
Bella has been seen wearing an arm sling after fracturing her scapula, or shoulder blade, during the six-woman tag team match in August. The injury happened at ringside when Jacy Jayne hit her with a running cannonball.
Despite realizing almost immediately that something was wrong, Brie continued the match. She reportedly changed some of her planned moves on the fly and pushed through the pain to reach the scheduled finish.
Brie later described the incident on The Nikki & Brie Show as a “freak accident”, making it clear she did not blame anyone for what happened.
The diagnosis revealed a fracture in three places, although surgery won’t be necessary. Doctors expect her to use the sling for roughly two to six weeks while the bone heals.
Her return to wrestling, however, could take considerably longer. Brie is expected to miss approximately three to six months as she works to regain full strength and mobility in her shoulder.
For now, the focus is recovery, not a return to the ring.
