Bron Breakker Cleared to Return, WWE Pumping Brakes on Money Match

The path to Seth Rollins vs. Gunther at WrestleMania 42 has been weeks in the making, and Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer has the full picture.

According to Meltzer, the Rollins/Paul Heyman storyline over recent weeks was always designed to set up Gunther choking Rollins out at Madison Square Garden. The match has been the plan for several weeks.

Gunther landing the spot was a product of circumstance. The original plan had Logan Paul working with Rollins, but The Bloodline and the Usos were slated for a celebrity match involving IShowSpeed and Paul, which removed Paul from that equation. When Bronson Reed suffered an injury on top of that, WWE needed a new opponent for Rollins and turned to Gunther.

As for Breakker, Meltzer clarifies that his absence from the WrestleMania card has nothing to do with his recovery from hernia surgery. Breakker is cleared. WWE simply chose not to rush the match, wanting a proper television build before pulling the trigger on Rollins vs. Breakker.

WrestleMania 42 is just weeks away, and this year's card has been significantly shaped by injuries throughout the roster. The Rollins situation alone went through multiple pivots before landing on Gunther as the opponent.
