Bruce Prichard is set to undergo neck surgery for an injury that dates back to 1991, according to his longtime podcast partner Conrad Thompson.
Thompson shared the news on the latest episode of 83 Weeks, his podcast with Eric Bischoff. He said Prichard was hurt during a WWF Superstars taping when the Ultimate Warrior attacked him, back when Prichard was performing as Brother Love. Prichard only learned recently that his neck had been broken.
I don’t know that Bruce has revealed it but Bruce has been dealing with a neck injury,” Thompson said. “It turns out that Bruce is gonna have to have some surgery on that rascal and he hadn’t been having the best quality of life recently.
Thompson said Prichard is in rehab and still “hurting for certain,” but he struck an upbeat note on the outlook.
He broke his neck and he just found out just recently. All these years later… He’s on the mend. He’s gonna be alright. But keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
No date has been announced for the surgery. Thompson also did not say whether Prichard will step back from his WWE duties while he recovers.
Prichard is a senior member of WWE’s creative team under Paul “Triple H” Levesque. He has been a lightning rod in recent months: Jim Ross defended him against Bret Hart’s shots at WWE creative in September, and the second season of WWE Unreal showed Prichard doubting two NXT stars were ready for the main roster.
