Chad Gable says he is in the best headspace of his wrestling career following a transformative month that included what many consider the match of the year and his first babyface turn in over two years.
Speaking to Good Karma Wrestling, Gable reflected on where things stand after the conclusion of the El Grande Americano storyline.
It has been just a wild month for me as you can imagine. I’m in good spirits, I feel like I’m in some of the best headspace I’ve ever been in wrestling. Things have been up and down for a long long time, and right now I feel like we’re in just this awesome spot where I’m just creatively fulfilled. Just everything’s going well on the show, we’ve got some great stories going on and coming off the Mask vs. Mask Match that I was so proud of for so many reasons, and we’re in a good spot man. I’m so happy.
He also reflected on how unlikely it was that the story would unfold the way it did, pointing to his torn rotator cuff as a pivotal variable.
Not a chance, you know? No way. That’s the best thing about wrestling right, is you just never know. You never know what it is that’s gonna land, what it is that the audience is going to latch on to or why really. And when you really think about the path that we had to go on to get to that point, it would have never happened if it wasn’t for so many different variables there. Someday I think everyone will become privy to how many there actually were. Something as obvious as my injury right? And me having to go away. If I hadn’t gotten injured, none of this would have taken the route that it did. And it’s just magic. That’s what wrestling is. The story’s not written from the beginning. The ending isn’t determined from the beginning. It’s like we can go a million different directions and sometimes it creates magic.
Gable returned to WWE television in 2026 as the “Original” El Grande Americano before the feud with Ludwig Kaiser culminated in a Mask vs. Mask Match at AAA Noche De Los Grandes on May 30. He is now on an apology tour, making amends with luchadors he wronged during the storyline and more recently approaching his former Alpha Academy stablemates, who have yet to accept his change of heart.
