Chelsea Green has revealed how her partnership with Ethan Page came together seemingly by chance, admitting she had to Google him before their first appearance together.
Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on INSIGHT, the two-time Women's US Champion explained that she received almost no advance notice about the pairing that has become one of WWE's most entertaining acts.
I got a call like the day before being like, 'Hey, you're going to come into NXT?' I said, 'Sure.' I just assumed I was going to have a singles match. And I showed up and they said, 'Oh, you're going to be with Ethan.' And I'm like, 'Ethan who?' And then they said, 'Ethan Page.' I had to Google.
Despite the last-minute introduction, Green says she and Page share an inexplicable connection that makes their on-screen chemistry work perfectly.
I would also like to know this [why they work so well together]. Every single time we are together, it's like the Spider-Man meme always. It's very strange. I feel like he's like my twin," Green explained. "I don't know who in NXT thought to put us together, but I owe them a lot of money when Ethan gets called up.
Green recalled the moment she realized the partnership would be special, noting Page's promo abilities immediately impressed her.
I remember being backstage and listening to him out in the ring when I was going to come out and do the first promo with him and his facial expressions and the s**t that was coming out of his mouth was just like, 'Oh my god, I couldn't have said it any better.' And we actually get along, too. Which that's rare.
The champion addressed her sister's observation that Page is "stealing her spotlight," but Green sees it as the perfect dynamic for a successful partnership.
My sister called me the other day to tell me that he's stealing my spotlight and I think that that is a perfect partnership. I bet that his wife would probably say the same. That's what you should be doing. You should be trying to outshine each other but in the most productive way.
Green also praised Page for committing to her tradition of never wearing the same gear twice, noting that he's gotten new gear for every appearance alongside her.
