ByThomas LowsonProfessional Wrestling Journalist

Chelsea Green didn\’t just make history at WWE Saturday Night\’s Main Event by becoming the first Women\’s U.S. Champion but also joined an elite group of wrestlers. Green\’s win is only the third example of a new champion being crowned at WWE Saturday Night\’s Main Event. The first came in 1989 when The Brain Busters (Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson) captured the World Tag Team Championships. In 1992, Shawn Michaels would best The British Bulldog to capture the Intercontinental Championship. Now, Green has added her name to this elite list of WWE Hall of Famers.

Green\’s victory has been a long-time coming for the self-prescribed Hot Mess. The Women\’s U.S. Championship marks Green\’s first title in WWE since 2021 and her first singles title ever with the company. Now, Green will be the target of every woman on the SmackDown roster, as winning a title often proves to be a lot easier than keeping it.

Who will advance to the King of the Ring final?
