WWE has announced that the new Undisputed WWE Champion, CM Punk, will appear live on SmackDown this Friday at Paycom Center in Oklahoma City.
Punk returned on the July 6 Raw in Chicago, replacing Cody Rhodes in the Undisputed WWE Championship match against Sami Zayn after Gunther attacked Rhodes backstage. Punk stepped in and won his eighth WWE World Championship in front of his hometown crowd at Allstate Arena, ending Zayn’s brief two-week reign.
Friday’s SmackDown will be Punk’s first appearance on the blue brand as champion and marks the beginning of his expected move to SmackDown, where a program with Cody Rhodes has been widely reported as the long-term direction heading into SummerSlam in Minneapolis.
