CM Punk Fans Will Have to Wait Longer for His WWE TV Return

ByAndrew RavensProfessional Wrestling Journalist

CM Punk was not backstage at WWE Backlash in Tampa and is not expected to appear on this week’s Raw in Knoxville, according to PWInsider, putting a dampener on the speculation that had been building around his potential involvement in Danhausen’s mystery partner storyline.

Punk’s name had become the top name attached to the angle after commentary hinted that Danhausen’s partner would be someone who “loves money,” a reference fans immediately connected to Punk. Danhausen’s public teasing of possible partners added further fuel, and the betting markets had Punk as the favorite heading into Backlash. Neither the match nor the backstage report produced any connection between Punk and the angle.

Punk has not appeared on WWE television since the April 20 episode of Raw. No timeline for his next appearance has been provided. Here is the card for Raw:

  • Acknowledgment Ceremony: Jacob Fatu acknowledges Roman Reigns
  • Oba Femi Open Challenge
  • The Street Profits and Joe Hendry vs. Bron Breakker, Logan Paul and Austin Theory
  • Brie Bella and Paige appear live
  • CM Punk to appear
  • Seth Rollins to appear
