Cody Rhodes is one of the biggest names in WWE today. However, during his first run, when he was a mid-card attraction, one particular action would draw WWE’s wrath towards him.
In a recent interview with James Sweetnam, The American Nightmare talked about the time he wore a mask after Rey Mysterio disfigured his face in storyline in the early 2010s. Rhodes would often hand out paper bags to people to cover their faces.
WWE wanted him to give it to unattractive people. However, Rhodes refused, which made WWE mad, as he revealed in the interview.

Cody Rhodes lost a huge match at WWE Sunday Night’s Main Event
Cody Rhodes failed to reclaim the Undisputed WWE title from CM Punk at SummerSlam 2026 after Randy Orton returned and attacked him. The weeks of exchanges and trading blows led to a WrestleMania 42 rematch between the duo at Sunday Night’s Main Event.
The bout was a hellacious encounter with Rhodes’ entire family in attendance in his hometown of Atlanta, Georgia. Towards the end, Orton utilized a low blow and RKO combination to seal the victory and hand him a major defeat in his hometown.
Despite his defeat, we will have to wait and see if this feud is over or just moving on to its next chapter.
