Cruz Montana Defends TNA Against Grayson Waller's Shot

ByAndrew RavensProfessional Wrestling Journalist

Cruz Montana understands exactly where Grayson Waller’s frustration is coming from. He just isn’t going to let a shot at TNA slide.

The former Mike Santana responded to Waller’s recent NXT promo on Busted Open Radio, sympathizing with the anger while defending the legacy of his run as a former TNA World Champion. Montana, who officially joined the NXT roster last week, said he’s lived through the same resentment Waller is channeling.

I’m always someone who will give props where they’re due. I was in his shoes before, I was pissed off at the world. I had opportunities taken from me. I had a ceiling put on me, I get it.

The respect only went so far, though.

So I’ve got to give him props for speaking his mind, but you don’t know me. You don’t know what I’ve been through. You don’t know what I’ve gone through to get here.

What Montana wouldn’t accept was Waller belittling the TNA World Championship, and he pointed to a familiar face to make his case.

That little shot that he took about being TNA World Champion, Bully (Ray), you’re a former TNA World Champion. You know the history and the weight that title holds. Name after name after name after name.

For Montana, the title represents the company that launched him.

For me to be among those names, to have had the opportunity to carry the brand that is TNA… TNA means a lot to me, TNA was the first place that gave me an opportunity to grow on a main platform. I’ll do anything for that place.

Montana has been a fixture on NXT over the past year through the brand’s partnership with TNA, but made his arrival official last week.
