Former WWE Champion Wants To Earn Success The John Cena Way

ByBishal RoyProfessional Wrestling Journalist

Former WWE Women’s United States Champion Chelsea Green has identified the one Hollywood mentor she actually wants advice from and it is John Cena.

Green said that she is deliberately building her acting career on earned merit rather than her WWE celebrity, and Cena’s grind-from-zero path is the blueprint she is following.

Green made the comments in an interview with The Early Bird Special, framing her crossover ambitions around starting small and working her way up. The strategy is already in motion through her recently announced role in the horror film “Red Wedding.”

Green explained that she has no interest in being handed parts because of her wrestling fame, and that Cena’s gradual, ground-up approach is the only one she wants to emulate.

The only person I want advice from is John Cena because John Cena has done it the way I want to do it, which is he started from ground zero and he’s built his resume,” Green said.

Not only has he built his resume from the ground up, but you can tell based on his growth in every movie or voiceover or tv show that he’s still growing. He’s still training as an actor. He’s still practicing and honing his craft, that’s what I want to do. I don’t want to be given roles because I’m Chelsea Green from WWE, I don’t want that. I want to start from the little roles and build my way up and make sure that I’m learning as I go because this is a whole new field that I know nothing about.

Green added that she stays in contact with Cena’s wife, Shay, keeping the family posted on her latest projects. She described Cena as the rare figure she wants to model herself after, despite generally preferring to carve her own path.

I have been non-stop texting his wife, Shay, and I keep them posted on the projects I’m doing and all that stuff,” Green said.

Yeah, he’s really the only person that I can look at and think, I want to emulate that. A lot of times, I don’t want to emulate anyone, I just want my own path. The minute that you try to follow in someone else’s footsteps is the minute that you get lost in the sauce and you don’t know where to go.

The “Red Wedding” casting is the latest addition to a growing acting portfolio for Green, who recently shared a first look at her role in the project “Blue Ridge”. She remains an active WWE performer while pursuing outside opportunities.
