Sin Cara hasn’t wrestled for WWE in years, but he isn’t closing the door on a comeback and he’s already thought about how differently he’d handle it this time around.
Speaking to TMZ’s Inside the Ring, the former WWE star addressed opportunities for Mexican and Latino wrestlers broadly, saying it’s the one thing he’s always wanted both for himself and for the next generation of talent coming up behind him.
He got the opportunity to become a star. That’s all we’ve asked all this time. All I ask is an opportunity. All I ask for the new generation is an opportunity for the Mexican kids or Latino kids to showcase their talent. That’s all we’ve asked all this time. And hopefully that time has come now.
Asked directly whether he’d say yes if WWE called and asked him to portray Sin Cara again, he didn’t hesitate. He explained that he sees himself as far more mature now than during his original run, crediting age, fatherhood, and experience with changing how he approaches decisions that used to be driven more by emotion.
Given the chance, he said he’d love to take on the character again and give it another shot.
I mean, I think I’ve gotten more mature now. When you’re younger, you do a lot of decisions for your emotions. I get that as you get older, as your kids get older and you’re in time, you’re out of that big monster, you realize a lot of things. For me, I wouldn’t mind coming back.
If they would ask me or we would talk, ‘Hey, you want to portray Sin Cara again?’ I would love to do that definitely again and give it another shot.
Those comments carry extra weight given how his first WWE run ended. Back in November 2019, Sin Cara publicly requested his release, saying he felt stuck and undervalued as both an athlete and an entertainer; WWE granted the release the following month.
Nothing suggests a WWE return is actively being discussed right now, but Sin Cara’s comments make clear that if the call ever comes, he’d be ready to answer it, this time with a different mindset than the one that led him to walk away.
