Roman Reigns is probably the biggest star of the WWE modern era, but that didn’t stop a Hall of Famer from making a bold statement about him.
He is none other than the former WCW President, Eric Bischoff. In the latest episode of his 83 Weeks podcast, Bischoff said that he was bored with seeing Roman Reigns’ character on television. However, he also added that, while there is no evolution for Reigns, he is still a top draw financially.
I’m bored with him. I don’t see anything new from him. I don’t see a character evolving. We’re not seeing any evolution. We’re seeing maintenance, and it’s good. It’s definitely working from a financial perspective, so there’s nothing wrong with it. There’s just nothing compelling about it.
At the same time, Bischoff made it clear that Reigns’ character compared to Ric Flair and didn’t need to change, considering their magnitude and star power.
By the way, why does he have to change? Ric Flair wrestled the same match over and over and over again. They were phenomenal. But Ric’s character never changed. Didn’t have to. And I think that’s where Roman is. It doesn’t mean that I can’t be bored with it. Those two things are not mutually exclusive.
Roman Reigns picked up a huge victory at SummerSlam 2026
Roman Reigns recently squared off against his former brother-in-arms, Seth Rollins, in a match for the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam 2026. The Night 2 main event saw The OTC finally cast away the ghost of Rollins in a blockbuster showdown and retain his title. Following the bout, both men seemingly put their longtime tensions to rest and shared a Shield fist bump.
In the following episode of RAW, Reigns was confronted by LA Knight, who was seemingly looking to have him inserted in the title picture. At the same time, a No. 1 contender’s tournament between the luchadors of RAW, SmackDown, and AAA is ongoing, with the winner facing Reigns for his title on the September 14 episode of RAW from Mexico.
With challengers coming from every direction, it is surely looking to be a fresh chapter in Roman Reigns’ run in WWE right now.
