Internal Pitched Opponent For Charlotte Flair At WWE SummerSlam

ByAndrew RavensProfessional Wrestling Journalist

A match between Jade Cargill and Charlotte Flair has been pitched internally for SummerSlam and was at one point penciled in for the event, according to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select.

Sources indicate WWE creative has been waiting for the right time and stage to present the first-time singles matchup, with those involved believing SummerSlam on August 1-2 in Minneapolis is the ideal setting. There is a feeling internally that the time is now for the match to happen, though plans can always change.

The report comes as the two have been building toward a collision on SmackDown, with their rivalry featuring backstage brawls and repeated physical altercations. Cargill, alongside Michin and B-Fab, launched a backstage attack on Flair at Clash in Italy. The two have also clashed in tag team action, with Cargill and Michin recently defeating Flair and Tiffany Stratton after Cargill hit her Jaded finisher.

Cargill challenged Rhea Ripley for the WWE Women’s Championship at Clash in Italy before losing her title match. WWE will have to get through Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia on June 27th before reaching the two-night event.
