Drake Maverick is wrestling again, and he is still on WWE’s payroll.
The former 205 Live General Manager returned to the ring last month for PROGRESS Wrestling under his old name, Rockstar Spud. It was his first match in nearly five years, which left fans wondering what it meant for his WWE job.
Maverick cleared it up in a reply to a fan on Sunday, sent from backstage at Raw.

PROGRESS announced the comeback on August 26 for its Odyssey Tour. He has gone 2-0 since, beating Dave Mastiff and Sha Samuels.
He told Simon Miller the booking came together with about two weeks’ notice, and that he had started to accept he might never wrestle again. That has not dampened his ambition.

Maverick worked on WWE television as a wrestler and manager before being released twice. He came back in 2022 in a backstage role. His last match before PROGRESS was in November 2021.
