The Rock achieved tremendous success in the late 1990s as one of the top WWE stars. Furthermore, after he transitioned to Hollywood and became recognized globally, the People’s Champion had to make an important decision about his personal life.
In a recent interview with Complex, The Rock explained why he no longer flies commercial. He said:
It started getting crazy for me when I became famous as The Rock in wrestling early 2000s, so that was a level of fame that I didn’t expect and at that time if you remember WWE was on fire” “But then once I transitioned into Hollywood and you become well known globally in another way, that’s a whole other level. So airports and airplanes just don’t mesh well
The 10-time WWE Champion said that he used to get last on the plane and buy the seat next to him to avoid fan interaction and sleep. After he would wake up, The Rock would see notes around him from fans and even wait for him outside the bathroom of the plane when he would go.
What would happen is I’d get on the planes, and I’d get on last if it’s a commercial flight. I’d sit down. What I like to do is I would back then, buy the seat next to me so there’s nobody next to me and I’ll fall asleep. When I wake up there’s notes on the seat next to me and I don’t want to go into the notes because then people are watching to see, oh, he’s reading our notes. Then I’d go to the bathroom and it happened all the time. I’m like, all right, when I’m done in the bathroom I’m thinking, okay, what’s going to be on the other side of this door? Usually when I open the door, everybody’s waiting.
The hassle and cost of superstardom led The Rock to quit flying commercial and choose private air services.
The Rock’s last WWE appearance was in 2025
The Rock’s last televised WWE appearance took place at the 2025 Elimination Chamber PLE. It was the night Cody Rhodes chose not to sell his soul to him and berated his offer. Following that, upon his signal, John Cena shockingly attacked Rhodes and turned heel.
Since that night, the TKO Board member has not been seen on television. At present, he is involved in his Hollywood career and other ventures and gearing up for the upcoming release of his film, the live-action version of Moana, hitting theatres soon.
