Jake Roberts has confirmed he is no longer with AEW, speaking warmly about his time with the promotion and describing Tony Khan as “a breath of fresh air.” Roberts spoke to Bill Apter on YouTube, which is where he confirmed his departure.
Roberts first arrived in AEW in 2020 and worked primarily as Lance Archer’s manager. He is best known for his legendary WWE career, during which he introduced the DDT as a finisher and is credited with entirely changing the move’s psychology.
He is a WWE Hall of Fame inductee in the class of 2014. Roberts spent much of the early 1990s as one of wrestling’s most compelling heels before a period of personal struggles that kept him away from the ring.
His recovery and WWE Hall of Fame induction were documented in the film “The Resurrection of Jake The Snake Roberts.”
