Roman Reigns and Jalen Brunson are teaming up at The World’s Most Famous Arena. The World Heavyweight Champion invited the New York Knicks star to WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event this Saturday at Madison Square Garden, and Brunson has accepted.

Reigns extended the invitation in a social media post Monday morning, calling on the reigning NBA Finals MVP to stand alongside him at MSG. “The OTC. The King of New York @jalenbrunson1. The Mecca. MSG @TheGarden. Let’s have the whole world ACKNOWLEDGE us at @WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event!” Reigns wrote.

WWE confirmed shortly after that Brunson accepted the invite and will be in the building for the show.

Brunson is a longtime WWE fan who has appeared on programming before, including a memorable SmackDown segment at MSG involving Tyrese Haliburton, LA Knight, and Logan Paul. He was also interviewed on Stephanie McMahon’s podcast earlier this year.

The appearance comes with a caveat: Brunson recently underwent surgery on his left wrist, an injury he played through during the Knicks’ championship run, and he will not be cleared for any physical contact. That ruled out earlier creative pitches that would have paired him with Danhausen, who “uncursed” the team on its way to the title.

A Stacked MSG Weekend

Reigns does not have a match announced for the July 18 special, so the Brunson segment gives The Tribal Chief a clear reason to appear. It also adds star power to a card that currently sits at three matches.

Danhausen, now billing himself as “The King of New York,” faces JD McDonagh. Paige and Brie Bella defend the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship against Fatal Influence’s Fallon Henley and Lainey Reid. And WWE Champion CM Punk teams with his SummerSlam opponent Cody Rhodes in the night’s featured tag bout.

Saturday Night’s Main Event streams live on Peacock this Saturday at 8 p.m. ET, part of a Fanatics Fest weekend that has drawn much of the WWE roster to New York City.
