WWE’s board shared explicit content and information without Janel Grant’s consent during its 2022 investigation into Vince McMahon.
Grant accused McMahon of sexual assault, sex trafficking and other allegations in a complaint filed in federal civil court in 2024. In 2022, after an email was sent to WWE’s board, the company conducted an investigation that led to McMahon leaving the company.
He returned later but was forced into retirement following Grant’s civil suit and a federal criminal investigation. According to Grant, the investigation ended without an indictment.
“I learned some things about my past that I didn’t know before while reading public documents from a shareholder’s case,” Grant said on Instagram on Thursday. “Without my knowledge and without my consent, (explicit) graphic evidence was produced. to a special committee as part of this investigation.
“The nature of this evidence? Descriptors in evidence include ‘sexual,’ ‘very graphic language and photos,’ ‘something that looks more like sexual abuse,’ ‘trafficking,’ ‘nefarious’ ..”
Grant said the material was put into summaries and read to members of the Board of Directors.
Grant pointed to depositions from executives Nick Khan, Michelle McKenna and Jeffrey Speed.
McKenna was asked about messages concerning McMahon and Grant.
Based on the information that you had available to you when you joined the board, did the allegations seem like they related to an affair?
No,” McKenna answered.
It was something darker than that, right?
Yes.,” McKenna said.
Something that looked more like sexual abuse?
Yes,” McKenna said.

Grant said her attorneys were never notified about WWE sharing explicit content and messages during the investigation.
