Jeff Jarrett has opened up about Owen Hart’s death.
The wrestling veteran recently spoke to Chris Van Vliet for a new interview. He talked about things such as the upcoming Dark Side of the Ring episodes based on his career and the rise and fall of TNA, his relationship with Dixie Carter and more.
During the talk, the 58-year-old was also asked about the tragic death of Owen Hart and the emotions he went through while competing in a match right after the incident. Jeff Jarrett mentioned that he was with the late star backstage right before Owen was called up. He knew immediately that something had gone wrong when they called Jerrett for his own match not too long after:
Matt Miller busted in and said, ‘You’re up.’ I’m like, ‘Owen’s up.’ He goes, No. I said, ‘Well, what happened?’ He said he fell. That stopped the match, not good. He fell. So then there was a T-shirt. Grab my T-shirt, run down there. I knew how to promo beforehand, and as I’m walking through the backstage area, that is the heaviness,
And I’ve processed this so many different times, I can live it, I have visualized it, I can visualize it. Kevin Kelly, we get in front, me and Deborah and have the interview, Owen’s being wheeled by 10 feet apart. Crazy emotions, hollering, and screaming, and you know 15-20 people following a gurney, and all this, and 3,2,1… Whatever I said, the heaviness was, which I had no idea, but it was on me.
Jeff Jarrett mentioned that he could feel the top rope being super loose when he went up to the ring but he didn’t really process things at the time. According to the former WWE star he didn’t grieve Owen’s death properly then as they went back on the road immediately afterward. It was only in 2017 when he went through a deep process of grieving and really understanding what he went through that night.
