17-time World Champion John Cena recently said that the one thing he misses about WWE isn’t the matches or the titles. It’s the crowd.
‘The Leader of Cenation’ made his first late-night appearance since retiring during a sit-down with Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show, where he reflected on walking away from the ring.
What I miss is the audience, the energy that I feel when you come through the curtain. I miss this stuff.
Cena then framed his exit as acceptance rather than regret. He told Fallon the decision came down to his body, not his desire to keep performing.
I had to walk away because I can’t get body-slammed anymore. It was time.
From The Grind To Life After The Ring
Cena then joked about how the brutal week-to-week schedule has eased since he stepped away, telling Fallon his Tuesdays used to be rough. He kept the tone light, leaning on the self-deprecating humor that’s defined his media run.
He also made clear the skill set hasn’t gone anywhere, even in retirement.
Jimmy Fallon, I am retired, but my entire life, my vocation has been picking people up and carrying people.
