Kenny Omega Congratulates Cody Rhodes on Street Fighter Movie Role

Kenny Omega revealed he reached out to congratulate Cody Rhodes after learning about his casting as Guile in the upcoming Street Fighter movie, sharing how his perspective has evolved over the years.

Speaking to Fall Damage in a recent interview, Omega discussed Rhodes' role in the Street Fighter film, which also features WWE's Roman Reigns and is set for release on October 16th later this year.

I remember one of the first things I did when it was released that Cody was going to play Guile. I gave him a message and I said to him, I said, hey, hey, Codes," Omega explained. "I said, 'I just want to say congrats, and I know the old me would have been just fuming. He would have been jealous. He would have been upset that you got this role.'

The AEW star admitted his reaction surprised even himself, showing personal growth from his more competitive past.

I said, 'but I'm just excited and happy for you,' and if there is a Street Fighter 2, then absolutely. I'd love to play Alex. I would need to know in advance because I would have to do something about packing on like 50 to 60 pounds of lean muscle mass.

Gaming Connection Runs Deep

Omega's interest in the Street Fighter franchise extends beyond casual fandom. The former AEW World Champion has maintained a strong connection to gaming throughout his career and recently completed motion capture work for Street Fighter 6.

His suggestion to play Alex, a character known for his massive frame and wrestling-based moveset, would require significant physical transformation. Alex is one of the larger fighters in the Street Fighter roster, known for his grappling techniques and powerful strikes.

Both Omega and Rhodes have established themselves as top stars in their respective companies and this generation.
