Killer Kross says WWE changed its backstage headset policy the week after he sat in the Gorilla position listening to agents and producers during a show he was not being used on, and he still does not know exactly what he may have heard.
Speaking on The Ariel Helwani Show, Kross described how he spent his downtime during his final WWE run trying to learn as much as possible about the business.
There was one time I was on the headset and after that, nobody was allowed on the headset. We can’t talk about that yet. I just wanted to make the most out of the day. We didn’t have anything for that particular day. And I sat down in Gorilla on the headset, and it wasn’t the first time I’d ever done that. And I was on the headset in the truck anyways. And I think it was like the next week. I didn’t say a word. It didn’t cause a problem, you know. The next week, no one was allowed to do that anymore. So I thought that was weird.
When asked what he thought triggered the change, Kross admitted he has no definitive answer.
I don’t know, maybe I heard things I shouldn’t have heard.
Kross departed WWE in summer 2025 after he and Scarlett were unable to reach terms on new contracts.
