Lexis King Reveals Concussion After NXT Injury Scare

Lexis King confirmed he suffered a concussion following a scary incident at the March 20 NXT house show in Lakeland, Florida. The Birthright member was injured during an eight-man tag team match when he took a knee to the head, prompting officials to stop the bout.

King posted a video update on his Instagram thanking fans for their support and clarifying the severity of the injury. Initial reports suggested he avoided major damage, but King revealed the situation was more serious than first believed.

Hey, guys, I just wanted to give a little update. First off, thank you to everybody who reached out and checked on me. And for those that don't know, on March 20, I did suffer a really bad concussion. But we're a little over a week out now and I've been cleared. I passed all the tests and feeling better than ever," King said.

King Criticizes Indie Wrestlers

The NXT superstar used the opportunity to stress the dangers of professional wrestling and call out less experienced performers. He suggested some wrestlers entering through the WWE ID program lack the skills to work safely.

It is a reminder, though, that this is a very dangerous business. And above all else, our health and safety comes first," King stated. "It's also a reminder, too, that some people don't belong in the ring. And yes, I'm talking about these indie gibronis. They sneak their way into NXT through the WWE ID program, and the first thing they want to do is get all their in on me.

The match was ruled a no contest after the referee threw up the X signal. Elio LeFleur, who was also involved in the bout, suffered an arm injury and has been seen wearing a sling.

Madison Square Garden Appearance Teased

Despite the injury scare, King indicated he plans to appear at an upcoming NXT event at Madison Square Garden. He referenced The Birthright making their first appearance at the historic venue.

We got a little something coming up next week. Madison Square Garden... the most historic faction in the history professional wrestling is walking into MSG for the first time," King said.

King was announced as not medically cleared to compete on the March 24 episode of NXT. The injury comes at a crucial time for The Birthright as the group navigates the NXT tag team division.
