Mercedes Mone has vacated the APAC Women's Championship, marking the end of her run as a multi-promotion titleholder. The announcement came via her Mone Mag publication on Saturday, with the former AEW TBS Champion explaining the decision was based on budget constraints and creative differences with the Malaysian promotion.
While I was in London, I had to make a tough call. I sent the Malaysia Championship back," Mone wrote in her statement. "My team and I really tried to make things work—we put in the effort, had the conversations, and explored every option. But at the end of the day, they told us they didn't have the budget to fly me out and weren't open to working with other promotions.
The superstar, who previously held championships across multiple promotions simultaneously, explained that the partnership no longer aligned with her vision. She emphasized that the decision, while difficult, was necessary for her continued growth.
Mone Explains Decision to Vacate Title
For me? That just didn't align with the vision. So I made the decision to vacate the title," Mone continued. "And look—this business isn't always easy. Not every partnership works out the way you hope. But I've learned to stand firm in my worth, my time, and what I bring to the table.
She concluded her statement by noting that every title she holds must have meaning and purpose. She wrote:
Trust me… I'm always moving forward.
AEW Return Status
Mone recently appeared on Italian TV station IL61's Wrestling Time program, where she teased her return to All Elite Wrestling. "I'm returning (to AEW) really really soon," she said. "But right now I am on my Moné Madness Tour all over Europe."
The CEO last appeared on AEW programming during the January 10 episode of AEW Collision. She has been touring internationally while away from AEW television.
