Ohio Valley Wrestling is under fire after referee Dallas Edwards suffered a seizure during the promotion's March 12, 2026 television taping in Louisville, KY — with the match reportedly continuing rather than being stopped to render aid.
According to eyewitness accounts on Reddit and social media, Edwards was knocked unconscious after being struck by a crossbody maneuver during the bout. He then began experiencing what appeared to be a seizure while still in the ring.
Wrestler "Superior" Tony Evans was reported to have dragged Edwards outside the ring as the match continued around him. The broadcast ended abruptly, and OVW removed the episode from YouTube, though it remained briefly accessible on Triller.
Katie Gannon posted on X that Edwards was stable following the incident and asked for continued prayers on his behalf.

Widespread Condemnation
The incident has drawn intense backlash across wrestling communities on X and Reddit. Fans and observers have called for accountability from everyone involved, with some demanding Evans be permanently banned from wrestling and OVW event staff be terminated.
The episode has reignited broader concerns about medical protocols at independent promotions. Industry safety standards — including those outlined by the Cauliflower Alley Club — call for the immediate stoppage of competition when a performer is injured.
Major promotions like WWE have long-standing policies requiring matches be halted and medical personnel dispatched the moment a legitimate emergency occurs at ringside.
Independent promotions, which typically operate with fewer resources and less formal oversight, have frequently faced criticism for falling short of those benchmarks.
OVW Responds
OVW has since issued a statement confirming the incident and providing an update on Edwards' condition. The promotion called Edwards "a member of our OVW family" and said the company was "distraught" to see one of their own injured during the broadcast.
"Dallas is alert and doing much better," OVW wrote, asking fans to keep him in their thoughts and prayers while respecting his and his family's privacy. The promotion added that it would provide further updates as they become available.
