Penta Set To Battle Rey Fenix In WWE Title Tournament Final

Penta defeated La Parka on WWE Raw this week to set up a tournament final against his brother, Rey Fenix, for the right to challenge Roman Reigns for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship in Mexico City on September 14.

The semifinal took place on the August 24 episode of Raw from the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa. Penta and La Parka traded near falls throughout the match, with La Parka hitting a Spanish Fly off the top rope before Penta answered with a springboard Mexican Destroyer for the pin.

In the other semifinal on the same show, Rey Fenix defeated Dragon Lee with the Mexican Muscle Buster to punch his ticket to the final. Fenix helped Lee to his feet after the match, and Lee raised his opponent’s hand before Fenix turned his attention toward the finals.

Penta and Fenix’s showdown is now set for next week’s episode of Raw on August 31, with the winner moving on to face Reigns when the show heads to Arena CDMX in Mexico City.

A Rare Singles Meeting For The Lucha Brothers

Penta and Fenix have wrestled together as a tag team for most of their careers, most notably as the Lucha Brothers in AEW and Impact Wrestling. Their last one-on-one encounter came in AEW back in November 2020, making next week’s match their first singles meeting in nearly six years and their first since both brothers arrived in WWE.

Penta signed with WWE first, debuting on Raw in January 2025 and going on to become a multi-time Intercontinental Champion. Fenix joined SmackDown later that year before shifting his focus back to AAA, where he currently holds the Cruiserweight Championship.

The winner of next week’s final will get a shot at Reigns during his first Raw match in nearly two years, as the WWE World Heavyweight Champion is set to defend the title in Mexico City for the first time since Raw last visited the city in 2011.
