Backstage News On Planned Elimination Chamber Match

Finn Balor seems to be on course for another world title match.

Triple H has confirmed that the winners of the Elimination Chamber matches this year will receive title shots in their respective divisions, meaning that the current champions will not be entering the cage at the PPV.

This opens the possibility of the titles being defended in separate matches at the upcoming event, and at least one such match seems to have been confirmed.

According to Fightful Select, one of the proposed ideas for the upcoming show from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois, is CM Punk defending his World Heavyweight Championship against Finn Balor.

The Judgment Day star unsuccessfully challenged Punk for the title at the January 19 Raw, and the two shared a moment of respect afterwards. Balor snapped after being denied a spot in the Royal Rumble match, however, and he ended up attacking Punk on the PPV go-home show the next week.

Finn Balor was featured in multiple video packages on this Monday's Raw, but he did not appear on the show in person. CM Punk did call him out right before his promo battle with Roman Reigns in the main event of the show.

It's unknown when this match will be officially announced but the idea is that the Straight Edge Star will accept the rematch in his 'home turf' of Chicago after their last encounter in Northern Ireland, next to Balor's home country.
