Reason for WWE Booking Multiple Shows During WrestleMania 43 Week Revealed

ByNicholas WatsonProfessional Wrestling Journalist

WWE announced multiple shows to take place in New York for the WrestleMania 43 week during the July 2026 broadcast of Saturday Night’s Main Event, with a potential reason speculated by Dave Meltzer. The Stamford-based promotion has announced an official watch party, NXT: Stand and Deliver, and AAA’s Eternal Glory for that timeline.

In a recent episode of the Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer said that WWE organizing multiple events was to counter their rival, AEW’s plans for that weekend, which are likely to run shows in New York City during that time.

I had been under the impression that AEW was going to run, and possibly in New York. If you’re putting an AEW show in the same market and [WWE] is going to run AAA and NXT at The Theater… even at best they’re going to get 4,000 people. It’s really not going to hurt AEW significantly. It’s something, if that’s what the plan was.

All Elite Wrestling has produced some top shows like Grand Slam in New York City. So, Meltzer speculating that they will return to New York is a real possibility. On the other hand, WWE will make history by producing the first WrestleMania outside North America and the first edition to be held overseas next year.

WrestleMania 43 is set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and is likely to happen in April 2027 after the announcement at SNME. So, it will be interesting to see more development on the same.
